We're getting closer to the release of Tears of the Kingdom and I felt the need to watch this commercial again. Robin would've been thrilled to see where the franchise is going.
That was weirdly sweet to see, it first makes you mesmerized to listen and see Robin Williams as an bearded old man with his daughter Zelda ... and then after a couple of seconds unfortunetly reality kicks back in

NinjaSushi2 Not so much, the real factors were recently diagnosed Parkinsons, undiagnosed Lewy body dementia (found upon autopsy), recovering alcoholism, and depression.
He had a divorce in 2010, but he remarried and I couldn't find any mention of his marriage being the cause, even if it was a partial reason I think all the other reasons dwarf that by comparison

It was really cool to me to learn that I had something in common with him. As a kid mrs. Doubtfire actually help me deal with things in my childhood. We're going on at the time. Robin help me in life. I wish i could have for him.

Robin's movies were funny, but they also had a good message; something that made me a better person in my youth. Because of this I don't want him to be remembered as a one of the sages, but the owl. I was morally guided in the right direction, just as the owl guides Link. I've been doing a commemorative playthrough of Ocarina of Time in his honor, because I have to say, Robin dying was a true shame.

@@anafernandez5420 he committed suicide. According to his wife he was deeply depressed over his diagnosis of Lewy Body Disease. I couldnt get a clear answer to what that disease was, but according to google searches it seems to be a form of dementia. If I had to guess, he was probably scared he'd forget all he ever loved, so he just decided to end it all while he still could. I don't agree with his "solution" but I can't say I really blame him either; though I'll miss him, I can't really mourn for him either as it was his own decision to go. There's certainly a complicated set of emotions surrounding this tragic event....

But then again, they always say comedians make others laugh because they want to make sure others aren't sad on the inside too.
I hope there's a Sacred Realm for you somewhere, a place where you can watch your Zelda, where you can be her personal Sage of Light. Rest in peace, and stay you.

Ok, Nintendo, you NEED to do some kind of tribute to Robin Williams in The Legend of Zelda Wii U. Like, an easter egg, and maybe a special thank you at the end of the credits. Make some kind of character that has a noticable resemblance to Genie from Aladdin, and make him say "You ain't never had a friend like me, Link!" Just do it. His legacy deserves it, not to mention his daughter would be elated!

I just keep coming back to this commercial every few months and it always gives me chills
God it's his smile. The way it takes over his whole face, not just his lips but his eyes and cheeks and forehead, all of it. It's just so inviting and warm. I'd never mourned a celebrity's passing but something about Robin made him feel like family.
I know there was so much more to him than this commercial, but I've always loved it and it was the first thing I looked up when I heard the news. RIP

Robin was my alter-ego...although he never knew this ! Many people told me of the resemblance between him and me, particularly when I am smiling. It transcended the physical appearance. In 1979, as I was teaching at the Royal Military College, in Kingston, one student of mine told me one day that I was just like Garp in Jonh Irving's famous novel....This was even before the movie was made with Robin as Garp. Robin was Garp, he was Merlin, he was an enchanter. My wife loved him very much. She might have married me just for that resemblance, if not, at least it played in my favor. With his departure, in such a very sad and lonely way, it is a part of my persona that I have lost. I am deeply saddened by all of that. I hope there is a somewhere else and that Robin now feels less lonely and has finally found self-love, peace and solace. I love you Robin. You will always be in my heart
