This channel has been such a big help for me! I had my first dental appointment in 6 years today and had to have a middle cleaning. Not a pleasant experience, but so worth it to fix how my teeth look and feel. I can’t stop staring at them and how great they look now! And the tips from your channel actually helped me get a good seal of approval from my hygienist and dentist! They were shocked, for all the build I had, what great shape my teeth and gums were in. I only had one slightly deeper than normal pocket. Thank you so so much for all this great content you provide for us 💕
Just got back from the dentist and my second cleaning and I no longer have a 5mm pocket. I had several 1s and 2s deepest one was a 4. I think these videos helped me a lot to improve my oral hygiene. Thank you.
@@Nighthawk5015 I got my deep clean today and go back tomorrow for the other side. I’m also getting two wisdom teeth pulled as well. Talk about neglect, I’m further back than 14 yrs. I’m lucky enough to have enough bone to still keep my teeth 🤦🏾♂️
My 4mm pockets became 3mm pockets this year, thanks in large part to this channel encouraging me to do the home care and get my butt to my local dentist and hygienist. ✌♥🦷
Buy a water flosser/ water pic and use everyday. Quit smoking if you do smoke and X the sugary drinks. I know all of those are hard to quit but your gums will thank you. I am guilty of all of those things myself and that’s exactly why I pay thousands of dollars every year for my dental procedures.
I recently got an SRP and I immediately noticed the difference no more bleeding even the day of when I went to brush and floss and they also used a laser on both sides of my mouth. Didn't hurt too much. Also, my breath is way fresher throughout the day! 😊
These dentist only takes our money & giveing us a short cut , damaging the enamel of out teeth by filing them down , so we can come back quick & in a few yrs time ends up with reffering us to get dentures as our teeth gets ugly looking like rotten teeth in our mouth
So I went to a dentist for a checkup for the first time in more than a decade and that was about 13 years ago and he just got stuck in and gave me a deep clean, I had a ton of tartar which I never even knew I had, wasnt what I would call painful or anything but he was scraping around the teeth for a good hour. Luckily he said it was not serious, but if left untreated, over time it would lead to serious gum disease, The tartar seemed to come back again at my next visit, but since then ive never had the need to have a deep clean, so i must be doing something right!
See if you can get laser gum treatments. He will essentially burn under your gum line (doesn't hurt much at all) and it stimulates gums to create scabs (which I know sounds disgusting) but it causes the gums to cling tighter to the bone & also get a good sonicare tooth brush. Invest in at least the $40 one but if you can get the better one that has the gum health function (~$80-100) get that one. It will last you at least 3 years but it will seriously heal up your gums and the tartar won't be able to build up under there. In the long run you'll be thanking yourself for the investment because you won't lose your teeth.
I hadn't seen a dentist in about five to six years ..( seriously , this is no fault of my own) living in the UK , finally I managed to find a dentist , had check up .. not much was explained , just the comment " you have several issues going on" made an appointment to see hygienist , but I was told in 6 months.. same time as next dentist appointment ... after watching this , I think maybe I need to see hygienist asap ... Thank you for explaining how things work..
great explanation. while i brush 2x/day, i am so bad at flossing and during the pandemic have not been good at keeping up with dental cleanings. hope to do a better job at this moving forward.
I've learnt so much from you Whitney. Here in my country, deep cleaning is called Root Planning or Root Surface Debridement. Middleman cleaning is often called deep cleaning by regular dentist and subgingival scaling by my periodontist. And regular cleaning sometimes can clean into subgingival area as well. As you can imagine, it's all very confusing when you call up the dentist and the receptionist say Yes! We do deep cleaning. But their deep cleaning is just slightly below gum line. Not the deep cleaning as you mentioned here, which is called Root Planing/Root Surface Debridement. I wish everyone in every country just sticks to the same name as per described by you.
I’ve had Invisalign for over 14 months and recently had a cleaning about 6 weeks ago. I had a good amount of tartar buildup on my bottom front teeth, but my gums are still hurting 6 weeks later. I had the dentist take a look but I feel like they shrugged me off and said it was due to the Invisalign and i needed to brush more. I had a few cleanings before and my gums never hurt like this. Has anyone else had this issue?
Hearing that you can be numbed for a deep clean and break it up is making me now look for a new dental practice. I was made to feel that I was a baby. It did hurt
When I went to the dentist last last month, my hygienist performed a debridement, while not a full cleaning, she said she wanted to see if that would negate the need for a deep cleaning. :) You're right about the x-rays... one of my upper molars look perfect from the outside, but underneath the filling, there's a problem area, so she was surprised when I said I didn't feel any sensitivity, etc. with the tooth.
I hate the ultrasound cleaning tools, it hurts and the sounds is awful :( I desperately need to go through with it, but it's difficult because I start hyperventilating and crying.
They tried to charge me 700$ for a deep cleaning i was like what the hell is this lmaoo my dentist was on drugs i told them them thats way to expensive how do you have normal clients no wonder why people dont come to the dentist
I went to the dentist for a regural clean and they told me i have gum disease because my gums bleed alot, they didnt measure anything or get an xray, they told me i needed a clean under the gums done in 2 sessions with local anesthesia but they didnt mention anything about bone loss... Are they trying to just take my money or do i actually need it?
The middle cleaning is uncomfortable but not painful. Recently had it done and now I’m just spiraling mentally watching cleaning videos and realizing how hard it is to build a flossing routine and feeling intense guilt.
Deep cleaning isn’t painful either, it just sounds scary because of the noise, but it’s actually fine. It’s a bit uncomfortable because of the vibrations and the fear your dentist might mess up, but other than that it’s good.
Ugh! I’m scheduled for my deep cleaning next month! Not looking forward to it! 🤦🏾♀️🦷 Glad I had my dental cleaning today and no cavities found! Thank goodness!
My gums haven't been bleeding in the longest time in about years . I've been keeping up with my daily routines such as brushing and flossings every day . Although I've not been to an exam or teeth cleanings in at least six months due to insurance problems hope it's not too bad ..
@@nessyfay insurance problem fixed. I’ve been to dentist and hygienist Monday. Yay they’ve given me a thumbs up. Even some of the gums firmed up and went from over 5mm to less than 4mm.
how do i know I'm getting the second kind of cleaning? My dentist likes to schedule deep cleanings once a year (in addition to my 6 month regular cleanings) but they've never told me i've had bone loss or any of the symptoms necessary for a deep clean
In 2016-17 I underwent a few Lazer gum treatments where he essentially burned my gums to stimulate healing & also got several custom crowns. Oh yeah! I also got all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed surgically! I also bought the world's most expensive toothbrush which was like more than $200 (sonicare lol) from the dentist and my mouth was in seriously amazing shape! For a time ... I went thru a divorce, took opioids for a year, and started smoking again and omg the damage happened so fast. I think my sonicare saved me from tooth loss but now I am taking it very seriously because I'm in my mid 30's and have endured agony from tooth decay around those neglected crowns. Thankfully, getting those wisdom teeth taken out allowed my teeth to naturally space out some so a big portion of my gums do not have deep pockets. But the molars are not good. Ive since quit all the smoking and other nonsense. Living healthier. Still use my sonicare. I know my tooth hygiene routine is more involved than most people. I brush 2-3 times per day with stannous flouride toothpaste (paridontax to ease pain.) water floss and regular floss and gum stimulation. I was able to get 2 root canals approved by insurance just waiting for that special dentist to have my appointment. The dentists keep convincing me to keep my two problem teeth in the back. I have begged them to pull them out for me to stop the periodic pain. They have told me to be patient because the root canals will be worth it. I guess losing those teeth will change my face structure & possibly hurt the teeth around it. Does anyone know if that's true?
I had a deep scale and planing done 2 months ago, after 2 years without a hygienist appointment. I was offered no numbing at all. It was all done in one session and OMG, when I got home I felt like I had been punched in the face!!! I had to take 2 ibuprofen and go to bed for a couple of hours and feel sorry for myself 😂 I also had an x-ray done 2 weeks ago which showed minimal bone loss and long healthy roots and the good news is, I went back to the hygienist today and she was really impressed by my cleaning and maintenance. She said my gums had tightened up already and the cleaning was a LOT less painful. I’m down for regular 3 monthly sessions for now to keep on top of it.
I have few gums in 4mm pocket size range but healthy bones and dentist recommended to do medium cleaning (scale, gingival inflam- full mth) Below two items were also recommended not sure what is that and if I should get that ? 1) Adjunc pre-dish test detect mic 2) Topical App FI Varnish Adult
Experienced 'Deep Cleaning' for my very first time by dental hygienist following dentists novocaine oral vaccinations, was quite painful where I felt the needle was in my gums for way too long, and then another shot following 5 - 10 min. I was also surprised by the financial cost, i was expecting somewhere just under ( $ 350 ) however no way I had to pay ( $ 575 ) cash on hand with no dental insurance, my Dentist was my Hispanic neighbors friend who pursuaded me to go through this dental practice for future gum disease prevention and prevention of tooth decay. Things felt good following Deep Cleaning appointment, to visit my Dentist once in every four months for cleaning and a checkup for ( $ 100 ) per-dental-visit, and he tells me it's a friendly favor he does to his family and relatives. Idk at this point whether I'd go through Deep Cleaning for a long time, as I believe once in five years is enough. It's not for everyone, especially for those with a tight budget towards dentistry
Had a normal cleaning done and every pocket was between 1mm-3mm, did develop few black triangles but I assume that can happen during gingivitis and can be fixed with bioclear when the gums are healthy? dentist said I only need 6 month check ups but glad I caught it early (would have gone a lot sooner if not for my financial situation)
Just found out I have 4mm and 5mm so I’m scheduled for a deep cleaning. They’re giving me a shot before hand. I’m nervous but watching this to prep, I really like my new dentist office. Edit: SRP is the name of the cleaning I’m getting.
I'll be having the deep cleaning and I'm nervous I had PTSD from dental trauma. I also have a heart mumur and although I'm 47 I still need to take the antibiotics before the deep cleaning and of course my anxiety meds ..I'm really nervous but also feeling very courageous. Because years ago I wanted to do be in Entertainment, film theater and I use to do commercial modeling . But years later I was in a horrific car accident and lost my my front tooth I was 25 years old ..then I went to the dentists that a year later was sured for nsl practice ..in other words I wasn't the only patient that he injured both physically and mentally ..and every since then I became afraid ..no . Terrified of the dentist even getting X-rays would trigger me and cause me to cry . Luckily for me I have a dentist now where the whole office down to the janitor lol is sOOO kind and patient with me. They totally understand. And they are all watching my bravery progress 😊 I believe I'm in good hands .but alot of times people don't understand the story behind why someone lets their dental hygiene go . Before the trauma I would often get compliments on my smile , now I barely smile and have learned to even talk where my missing tooth doesn't show . But I trust that soon I'll be able to smile big again ..in fact I love smiling , laughing ..sometimes I feel guilty for being so afraid . I'm pretty courageous in all other areas of my life .but again , you just never know what a person has gone through. I can do social media very well because I can hide my smile or the condition of my teeth better . But in person there will be no meet and greets lol 😂 not till I get back my smile . It really has affected my self esteem although I'm attracted. Id much rather be healthy annnd attractive.
Thank you, Whitney! It now costs $150 for a regular cleaning, and it is more important to me to be able to donate money to animal rescues and spay and neuter programs. I hope I can learn to do this properly.
I am just falling in love with this Doctor! I hope I could find her clinic. ( I have excessive saliva production when I sleep at nights since 2013, I am 32 years old and I have to keep waking up every night every hour or half an hour to go to washroom and spit or keep a bin next to me 😭) now after 12 years I can see triangles in my front upper and lower teeth’s and I don’t know what to do. I live in London please can someone tell me where is this Doctor’s clinic? Thanks
Hi, do they still do what is considered a regular cleaning during a deep cleaning? Or do I need to schedule a regular cleaning for polishing the teeth etc? This is what my plan says: LR/UR periodontal scaling and root planing phase I, LL/UL periodontal scaling and root planing phase II. Thank you in advance.
yes! I utilize the terms "scaling and root planing" and "perio therapy" when I'm at work, however online according to google, most patients are searching for "deep cleaning" when they are looking for information so I've been utilizing that terminology for my videos to be more easily searchable. however... it's such a balance finding that sweet spot between both terms! definitely working on finding a way :) thank you for watching!
Hi Whitney. My dentist refused to clean some yellowish material (probably tartar) that was sitting on top of the very last molar tooth. He said cleaning that would result in sesitivity issues. My question is, should I see another dentist to get it cleaned? Or can it be removed by homecare itself?
Tartar cant be removed at home. If your current dental provider refuses to do it you can always ask another dentist (with the original dentist's concerns mentioned) for a second opinion. If this dentist is willing to do it and you have no issues with switching dentists then you do that. No use in staying with a dentist that does not listen to the patient's wishes.
Hi Whitney, thanks for this video. My question is that I have very swollen gums behind my upper front teeth where I also have my bonded retainer. Should I get a deep cleaning or get the retainer removed? What will best help to remove the inflammation?
Growing up, I had nobody but my single mother whom couldn’t afford dental insurance.. I haven’t been to a dentist in over 7 years, until 2 weeks ago… I’m scheduled for a deep cleaning next week, so I was wondering… There’s two gaps I want fixed on my top row, and some crooked teeth on my bottom row… I have no idea which route to go to take care of that, considering my gums aren’t the healthiest. Any advice?
Hello. There are black stains on the top and sides of my teeth from smoking and balck tea. Does the regular cleaning include cleaning these off, or just removing tartar and plaque? Thx
I have a lot of bone loss caused from wearing orthodontics as a kid. Mainly on the bottom front teeth. But they said my roots are good. I have gum receding or higher pocket all around. Also they said caused by orthodontics. They haven’t recommended deep cleaning but just the regular 6 month cleaning. Is there anything else I can do? I do brush and floss regularly.
You are able to receive more frequent appointments to prevent build up in the pocket. Some patients request every 4 months (3x/yr) or every 3 months (4x/yr)- you may need to pay out of pocket for additional cleanings, but definitely worthy. Recommend - Electric toothbrush (Oral B or Sonicare)- gently rotating the bristles towards your gum line while brushing- when brushing near the gum line, your grip and pressure of your grasp on the toothbrush should be very light, flossing daily using the “c-shape” or “hugging” each tooth gently, Waterpik’s irrigate the gums with pressurized water, and using a good oral rinse. With the recession, recommend getting fluoride treatment every time you go to the dentist in order to protect the exposed root surfaces and the enamel of the crown. Calculus will harbor quicker in more porous areas, such as exposed root surfaces.
I take excellent care of my teeth and a new dentist ripped me off saying i needed a deep root scaling . For some reason i needed up at another dentist and told them that i was doing deep root scaling , the dentist laughed and said , you dint need anything done ! They are ripping you off 😡 $780 bc they knew my insurance was paying
Each practice is different like how some dentists think some cavities are small or some think they are bigger, it’s up to their interpretation of your mouth not that they ripped you off more that that’s what they were trained in their dental school training. Some states teach different guidelines and not every hygienist you go to in your state graduated in your state. So different guidelines. Or newer and improved guide lines for newer graduates where more veteran hygienists are not updated to new information, could be either or.
We had to move because we are a military family and I missed my last cleaning and now have to wait til November....I love getting my teeth cleaned and I am worried it about my gums
Generally its best not to miss a cleaning, but you can always take extra care of your oral hygiene at home, like floss regularly, brush after each meal or at least a mouth rinse, eat healthier foods and just show up for your next appointment, now if you are in rehabilitation for gingivitis or periodontal disease then try to show up always.
@@Ohkeh640 it’s a cleaning for gingivitis when insurance won’t consider a patient needing a deep cleaning due to no attachment loss but even then they won’t pay so patient has to pay out of pocket.
I brush my teeth hard when i was younger so i have a receding gums this type of cleaning is what i need, but my question what type of a dentist perform this?
Any general dentist performs this type of cleaning. Unless your pockets are really deep, then they might recommend you see a gum specialist known as a periodontist.
IS THIS NORMAL? I just got a regular cleaning today, but I felt like the service was so lacking, it was less than10 min and ALL she did was using the tooth scrapper (not vibrating just regular ones we have at home) and furiously scrapped the hell out of all my gums lines....then she quickly buffed around my teeth and sent me home. WTF
Think of the full mouth debridement as a preparatory procedure that helps clear the way for accurate diagnoses and further treatments if needed! Below is the code description -- hope this helps! Full Mouth Debridement (D4355): This is done when a patient has significant tartar buildup that makes it difficult for the dentist or hygienist to accurately evaluate the health of the gums and teeth. It’s typically a first step to remove heavy deposits and allow for a clearer assessment of the gums before proceeding with further treatment, like a regular cleaning or periodontal therapy.
@@TeethTalk yes, I paid for several of these procedures, out-of-pocket as I did not have any dental insurance, and I wanted my gums to be better so I paid forever. I did several almost to Bremen’s and they wanted it to go even cleaner so they sent me to a periodontist to get the RSP done and upon that visit they were mad at me and wrote a letter to my Dentist on how bad I was and I don’t know like I feel Dentist just want everybody’s mouth to be perfect but I feel 0% pain, so what is the problem. I just hate how Dentist want everything to be perfect and they just want all this money and I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars on my mouse in the last 10 years and it sucks but I am not having any of my teeth polled, because I refuse to have any pulled .
I had my teeth cleaned by a dental hygienist professional seven months ago. My teeth still hurt. Thanks professional dental hygienist person. I am being sarcastic. A month ago someone in her office called me to come back for another torture session, excuse me, dental cleaning. I said, "No. My teeth still hurt from the last time". The caller did not seem shocked or surprised or apologetic.
Just had mine done too. I kept telling my self “you are brave” “you are courageous” “ you can do it” “you are a warrior!” Then I used my phone and Air buds to listen to music while they were working on me. The music helped a lot.
I caution anyone that your Dental coverage may not cover 100% deep cleaning and this may cause the facility to have you sign a promise to pay including a 3rd party credit form where you will incur a hard inquiry on your credit report. You may have easily covered such costs with your credit card. The facility may obscure this fact. Be diligent. Present your credit card for additional costs. You probably don't need the credit application for service in a normal cleaning scenario.
Seems to me that most dentists these days don't want to do just a "regular" cleaning. They want you to go with a deep cleaning for about $1k. American Greed!
Just had a clean with dental hygienist and he forced a natural plus whitening my dad said just do it My 2 front teeth are shaped like veneers rounded I feel like he shortened them and I’m pissedddd!!!!!! Take before and she photos always He even left marks in my teeth I didn’t have before. I’m so mad I feel like he rounded off my 2 front teeth look fake now My 2 front teeth do look shorter and I wish I took photos from before I’m so fucking mad! My best advice to others is always take before and after photos I’m self conscious now I literally think he shortened my 2 front teeth I’m so fucking mad!
I go to a peridonist office the hygienist does a regular cleaning after a initisl deep cleaning a year ago after ovid. The regular ones are every 3 mo. And i still ended up with a cavity on my lower incisor 3 probe depth. My question is a cavity i read takes 6 mo to 5 yrs to develop. How did she not see it on prior cleanings? Note ive not had an xray in over a year. And i have deep pockets i was told due to meds i take it causes my gums to swell and increased tarter and I a bit of boneloss ????😮😮

Man.. I’m not gonna lie I have never been good at taking care of my teeth. Gingivitis at 14, again at 17 I think, periodontal disease after and since the first cleaning at 14 I thought I was doing good! I just hated flossing (I have very tight crowding so even healthy gum flossing can be painful if I’m not careful) It’s just so confusing. Can’t see in my mouth so idk. I’m also confused why I never have cavities… atleast I’m trying to do better every time they say I’m not doing a good job lol
Hello! Have you tried various floss brands? Try waxy one if you haven't. I have tight spacing too, and I use Glide cos that's the only brand that manages to slip through lol 😂 I suppose your eating habit doesn't include sugar and residue that much? Nice to know you don't have cavity issue! It's a problem if not treated early. 😅
there's a natural space between your gums and your tooth (called the sulcus) and it should be between 1-3mm. if it's higher than 4mm, then it's oftentimes called a pocket. floss properly cleans the sulcus but it can't properly reach down into pockets. here's a video of mine that explains more -- hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/25XbZz83ytE/v-deo.html
After my regular cleaning, my dentist suggested a deep cleaning. Wouldnt deep cleaning be sufficient? Why did I go thru regular cleaning at all? 😂 (His suggestion was based on my xways took way beforehand)
I went for a deep cleaning and after the second half of my mouth was done I been for the last 3 months with dry mouth and cannot taste food, I ask the Dr what's going on and they keep saying they never came across anything like this, do you have an idea on why I cannot taste flavors after the procedure? (is not covid, please), and also why I have dry mouth after?. Thank you for your answer!!!.
I just got a deep cleaning with no pain shots or anything rubbed on my gums and it was ferocious afterwards I was doing okay during the deep cleaning but no after care was given or polishing because I can't use mint so now I got home and I am hurting so bad I don't want any harsh pain killers I am scared to take a OTC 😢 Tylenol due to my kidneys but that scraping and drill was going at it for awhile and I gave natural birth with nothing my gums are bleeding please help and let me know what to do
Stay away from this deep cleaning crap there going to make your teeth gums sore long time and teeth sensitive its all about the money not about the patient
A dentist once scraped below the enamel layer to the cementum with his probe and announced that the sound was loads of plaque and I needed a deep cleaning urgently. No wonder dentists have a reputation as scoundrels.
@@musicgirl999 yes- usually the time is set for your first appt to do all assessments including a comprehensive examination which is a detailed exam. Establishing patients takes quite a bit of time and there may not be enough time for the hygienist for the schedule patient to complete the gingival inflammation cleaning. Typically a new patient appt includes full medical history and accuracy, blood pressure, oral cancer screening, periodontal charting, dental charting (any restorations or missing teeth present- which takes quite a bit of time, alone) full series X-rays (which can be 18-19 pictures- with time to process the X-rays if they are phosphor plates), reviewing these X-rays in great depth takes some time, intraoral pictures may be taken for establishing the beginning of your time at an office for documentation, sometimes a diagnodent is use to detect early cavities, then speaking with the dental team about the best treatment options for your case. The dentist (-mind you, while the hygienist is working, the dentist is more than likely in the middle of other procedures in another operatory, like doing fillings or crowns) then reviews every piece of documentation collected by the hygienist and checks every tooth individually. With all of the assessments that may be completed- the schedule may not be allotted for a gingival inflammation cleaning. Gingival inflammation cleaning =more bleeding which means more rinsing and suctioning. detecting buildup which is covered by the inflammed gums takes more precision than a typical cleaning as the buildup is scattered and not just in one spot on the tooth. Yes, prophylaxis cleanings are precise, but by this point, patients are established and the hygienist is able to complete the cleaning in the allotted time. Once the treatment is planned for a gingival inflammation cleaning- the front desk has to get confirmation with the insurance and evidence for why this treatment was decided, that it is okay to proceed as this is a different cost and this should be reviewed prior to proceeding so the patient is aware of the APPROXIMATE out of pocket cost. Many times hygienists are given only 60-80 mins for a new patient. And when splitting up all the procedures, this would leave MAYBE AT MOST - 20 mins to complete a cleaning after assessments. I hope this helps.
Hiii !!! You are just amazing and adorable 😍!! I am in love with your videos! I need a video for swollen gums! Actually am facing this since 2 years ... After a slight touch my gums start bleeding! I need a solution for thiss!❤
My dentist told me my teeth are good because I have no cavities but I'm having problems because the bone is wearing away because of something to do with my gums? How can I make sure to stop this from getting worse?
The information you provided is very superficial and it can be multiple things, but going on a more general cause of gum disease and bone lose, you might need a better hygiene routine with more brushing especially after each meal, habitual use of floss and some mouth wash, also if you drink or smoke this can be a cause of gum and periodontal disease 😉, and honestly dont be afraid to ask your dentist or dental hygienist what can be the cause of something? In general cavities and gum disease dont depend on each other even though the cause bacteria is the source among other multifactors.
$1600 is the price to do this And I have to do it no matter what 😭😭😭😭 Whit a part-time job is Impossible to do it.. I am sooooo Sad😭😭😭 Because I don't have any idea how is going to be done🤷♀️

No! Just look at the operatory set up when applying for jobs to see if you’ll have room on the opposite side. I’m a hygienist and I work with a left handed hygienist. I also had left handed instructors in school.

I feel the same about flossing my new years goal is to floss more. I wish us both luck!
skill issue :(
I've learnt so much from you Whitney.
Yeah, I had to get a deep cleaning. I sleep with my retainer and it caused some buildup in the back teeth
Hearing that you can be numbed for a deep clean and break it up is making me now look for a new dental practice. I was made to feel that I was a baby. It did hurt
Went through deep cleaning for my first time and they numbed me up a few times which was quite painful, I also paid more than I thought
@@LawrenceCaplan I’m happy for you and more mad for me now!
Yes, a syringe in the gums sucks! But yes, you definitely have to be numb for this procedure as the mouth is very sensitive to high pressure water
I had one four . I am going hard core. Flossing, brushing, mouthwash, water pik, flouride gel and special toothpaste.
Did u reverse your dental health without deep cleaning?? How?!
Every video you post has simple narrative. Thanks a lot
thank you for watching!!! and commenting kind! I try really hard to make my vids quick and to the point :) :) :)
Oh wow very informative video and everyone needs to see this. Thanks for sharing. You’re absolutely correct on everything you said.👍🏼👍🏼
Deep clean. Just done. 2k $ later and my general health has improved. Deep clean wasn’t fun,,, yet necessary
Did your insurance cover any of that
I hate the ultrasound cleaning tools, it hurts and the sounds is awful :(
I desperately need to go through with it, but it's difficult because I start hyperventilating and crying.
deep cleaning is also expensive as hell compared to regular. motivated me to take better care of my mouth at least
1600$ I was lucky to have insurance snd I paid $650. Still its unobtainable for many.
They tried to charge me 700$ for a deep cleaning i was like what the hell is this lmaoo my dentist was on drugs i told them them thats way to expensive how do you have normal clients no wonder why people dont come to the dentist
Could you do a video on hydrogen peroxide and it’s benefits on doing a rinse?
I went to the dentist for a regural clean and they told me i have gum disease because my gums bleed alot, they didnt measure anything or get an xray, they told me i needed a clean under the gums done in 2 sessions with local anesthesia but they didnt mention anything about bone loss... Are they trying to just take my money or do i actually need it?
The middle cleaning is uncomfortable but not painful. Recently had it done and now I’m just spiraling mentally watching cleaning videos and realizing how hard it is to build a flossing routine and feeling intense guilt.
don't feel guilty!!! you got this 💪💪💪!
I would look into nearby dental hygiene schools! They offer free or reduced cleanings!
I have few gums in 4mm pocket size range but healthy bones and dentist recommended to do medium cleaning (scale, gingival inflam- full mth)
Below two items were also recommended not sure what is that and if I should get that ?
1) Adjunc pre-dish test detect mic
2) Topical App FI Varnish Adult
The worst pain ever having a deep clean 😢I can’t have this done without anaesthetic
Katy Mack I can only have a deep clean with an anesthia
Whitney , thank you! From one hygienist to another!
thank you for watching!!! :)
I also have a heart mumur and although I'm 47 I still need to take the antibiotics before the deep cleaning and of course my anxiety meds
..I'm really nervous but also feeling very courageous.
My dentist listed perio scaling on my receipt, but I wasn't numbed and it felt like just a normal cleaning. What does this mean?
would using a waterpik reduce pockets ?
Thank you, Whitney! It now costs $150 for a regular cleaning, and it is more important to me to be able to donate money to animal rescues and spay and neuter programs. I hope I can learn to do this properly.
Are you being sarcastic?
You're sweet 😊
Our boss doesn’t like the term “deep cleaning”. Would love to use your videos for teaching. Ever think if calling it Perio Therapy instead?
Thx
Are my teeth still supposed to look dirty after the deep clean? I’m confused why they didn’t clean everything at my first appointment.
Did they prescribe a mouth rinse to use after?
Thanks for this video! Off topic: Can you make a hair care routine video? Share any tips or tricks? Your hair is so thick and beautiful!! ❤
that is SO NICE of you thank you!!!!!!! will definitely consider making a video about that! thank you!
Did it cost you more out of pocket?
Why have I not discovered your channel earlier! So ready to up my teeth game now.
Got one scheduled this Tuesday regular cleaning hope it aint longer than an hr n change
Thanks for the extended sales pitch, but where's the closeup video of what you supposedly do?
What sucks is most insurances don’t cover the middle cleaning :(
Middle cleaning???
@@Ohkeh640 it’s a cleaning for gingivitis when insurance won’t consider a patient needing a deep cleaning due to no attachment loss but even then they won’t pay so patient has to pay out of pocket.
I brush my teeth hard when i was younger so i have a receding gums this type of cleaning is what i need, but my question what type of a dentist perform this?
Any general dentist performs this type of cleaning. Unless your pockets are really deep, then they might recommend you see a gum specialist known as a periodontist.
Very well explained thanks
IS THIS NORMAL? I just got a regular cleaning today, but I felt like the service was so lacking, it was less than10 min and ALL she did was using the tooth scrapper (not vibrating just regular ones we have at home) and furiously scrapped the hell out of all my gums lines....then she quickly buffed around my teeth and sent me home. WTF
I had all regular cleaning done that my insurance covers but I had only one deep cleaning that I had to pay $100 out of pocket
Where does the full mouth debridement fit in? I thought this was in between the regular cleaning and RSP cleaning.

And this why im scared to get one!! Uggh i have a loose tooth to 😢
I think i might need a deep cleaning and im sooo nervous about it!!
Had mine yesterday if anything it’s taught me to brush my teeth and look after them I don’t ever want to experience what I experienced ever again
Just had mine done too. I kept telling my self “you are brave” “you are courageous” “ you can do it” “you are a warrior!” Then I used my phone and Air buds to listen to music while they were working on me. The music helped a lot.
This helped. Tyvm. ❤
I think today I got a middle cleaning. The hygentist said I had some deep pockets in some areas.
I’ve had deep pockets for about 40 years with no problems and I mean 6
I caution anyone that your Dental coverage may not cover 100% deep cleaning and this may cause the facility to have you sign a promise to pay including a 3rd party credit form where you will incur a hard inquiry on your credit report. You may have easily covered such costs with your credit card. The facility may obscure this fact. Be diligent. Present your credit card for additional costs. You probably don't need the credit application for service in a normal cleaning scenario.
What if you are told you need a deep cleaning but they didnt measure?
Seems to me that most dentists these days don't want to do just a "regular" cleaning. They want you to go with a deep cleaning for about $1k. American Greed!
You are getting ripped off if they’re charging you $1k
Get dental insurance, also shop around. Deep cleanings have different factors that affect cost no matter where you go

Man.. I’m not gonna lie I have never been good at taking care of my teeth. Gingivitis at 14, again at 17 I think, periodontal disease after and since the first cleaning at 14 I thought I was doing good! I just hated flossing (I have very tight crowding so even healthy gum flossing can be painful if I’m not careful)
It’s just so confusing. Can’t see in my mouth so idk. I’m also confused why I never have cavities… atleast I’m trying to do better every time they say I’m not doing a good job lol

I suppose your eating habit doesn't include sugar and residue that much? Nice to know you don't have cavity issue! It's a problem if not treated early. 😅
I have to undertake this in the end of the month. Is it painfull or is it just cleaning with the expanded cleaning method?
I dont think my denstits does ormy insrauce covers 3 months cleaning
Hi, I am scared of dentist spitbowl, where every patient spit saliva and blood, doesnt it spread diseases. how it is cleaned between patients?
Hi! For the offices that use spit bowls, they are disinfected between patients! Hope this helps!
Does anyone know what this lady means by pockets, is it how far in you can take your floss to the middle of the tooth?
there's a natural space between your gums and your tooth (called the sulcus) and it should be between 1-3mm. if it's higher than 4mm, then it's oftentimes called a pocket. floss properly cleans the sulcus but it can't properly reach down into pockets. here's a video of mine that explains more -- hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/25XbZz83ytE/v-deo.html
After my regular cleaning, my dentist suggested a deep cleaning. Wouldnt deep cleaning be sufficient? Why did I go thru regular cleaning at all? 😂

Does scaling with the presence of gingival inflammation involve the patient having to come back for a separate appt?
sometimes yes for a followup 4-6wks later! every office might have slightly different protocols, however. hope this helps!
@@TeethTalk I mean for a separate appt if the person comes as a new patient and ends up being diagnosed with it.
Does deep cleaning hurt

Question, does being left handed effect being a dental hygienist?
No! Just look at the operatory set up when applying for jobs to see if you’ll have room on the opposite side. I’m a hygienist and I work with a left handed hygienist. I also had left handed instructors in school.
Your smile is amazing 😍
