Just bought mine the other day at homedepot during an early Black Friday deal. $1030 out the Door. Very happy with that price. It sure doesn’t have all The bells and whistles other fridges might have. But this a good solid energy star rated fridge.
Lots of good info here, thank you. In my kitchen I need to put the fridge almost up against the wall on the right side. I have less than an inch of clearance if I choose this model. Will there be room to open the doors straight out or does the door need some extra width when opening?
Inch on the side? When opening the door to 90 degrees (straight out), there needs to be minimum 2-3 inches. Of course, to open the door wide, you need the width of the door. You would also need to open the door wider to get the bins / shelves out.
@@DrBDIY Ouch, that's a problem. Our previous fridge (Samsung) needed less than an inch as the doors were not hinged on the edge and didn't move much sideways when opening. I see your point about getting the bins/shelves out. Our previous fridge let us open the bins fine for daily use but for washing we had to slide the fridge out to get the doors open wide enough so the bins could be removed. Thanks for the help, good to know.
Hey, would you please reply wtih what is the height of floor to your cabinets and floor to extreme top of fridge? i want to check if it will fit under mine.
I had the refrigerator in two places. The measurements: Laundry Room opening: 33" deep (back wall to front of cabinets) x 44" wide (between cabinets) x 72" tall (bottom of overhead cabinet) Kitchen opening: 38" deep (back wall to corner of side wall) x 42" wide (between cabinets) x 72" high (bottom of overhead cabinet) In both cases, I didn't push refrigerator all the way back so the doors would not hit wall/cabinets.
"After the water filter is replaced, dispense 2.5 gallons of water (flush for approximately 5 minutes) to remove trapped air and contaminants from the system." Also make sure water it turned on at the wall. You may disconnect the line from the LG to run water into a bucket to ensure line is not clogged. Connect and run a bit as indicated above to clear air.
got this same model. how long did it take to make the standard ice (not craft) after installation? I’ve had it for an entire day now and I feel like it’s barely made any
This seems accurate for our unit: Ice is made in the automatic in-door icemaker and sent to the dispenser. The icemaker produces 70 - 182 cubes in a 24-hour period, depending on freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other operating conditions. • It takes about 12 to 24 hours for a newly installed refrigerator to begin making ice. • Ice-making stops when the in-door ice bin is full. When full, the in-door ice bin holds approximately 6 to 8 (12-16 oz.) glasses of ice. • Foreign substances or frost on the ice-detecting sensor can interrupt ice production. Make sure the sensor area is clean at all times for proper operation. • To increase ice production, use the Ice Plus function. The function increases both ice making and freezing capabilities.
I just bought this model. The default temp for the fridge is 37F, but my thermometer says the fridge is actually at 40F. Should i be concerned, or just set the temp a couple of degrees cooler?
My metal thermometer always shows a few degrees variances. It depends on the compressor cycle. On most fridges, be sure that food is not packed to the back and sides as it will block the flow of air. You might check if the bottom of the fridge is colder than the top. When the door opens, the temperature drops immediately. To be sure there is no problem, you could get a wired thermometer and monitor the temperature over time.
Here are instructions. • Throw away the first bin full of ice (about 140- 160 cubes) after installation. The first ice and water dispensed may include particles or odor from the water supply line or the water tank. This is also necessary if the refrigerator has not been used for a long time. • Dispense and throw away 2.5 gallons of water (flush for approximately 5 minutes) after installation. Do not dispense the entire 2.5 gallon amount continuously. Press and release the dispenser pad for cycles of 30 seconds ON and 60 seconds OFF. This is also necessary if the refrigerator has not been used for a long time. I did that and had no problem. Did you replace your water inlet line from the wall? It is a good practice to replace those lines when you get a new refrigerator. They can build up crud depending on how clean or softened your water is. Also, you put the filter in the top of the refrigerator, right? The line and filter I would double check first.
Interesting question. I just measure dour unit and we get one quart of cold water, then maybe another 1/2 quart of cooler water before regular water pours, which is still a bit ool as the pipes are underground.
@@DrBDIY thank you for that information. We have a Samsung with Sprint stores right now and we probably get about a pint glass of cold water and then it goes cool. I think the hose that contains all the cold water within the fridge must be a little smaller in the Samsung fridge.
The LG side by side refrigerator is doing just fine. We like the ability to organize frozen foods on shelves instead of just a bottom bin. Guests like to comment on the round craft ice. I just changed the water filter and that was easy too.
We haven't spent any time wiping off fingerprints. The material is like a brushed stainless so prints are hard to see. If oily, sticky or dirty hands were used, it may show up more. Feeling satisfied with the product.
Yes you can! The manual: Craft Ice Press the Craft Ice button repeatedly to toggle between the 3 ICE, 6 ICE and OFF modes. After 5 seconds of idle time, the last mode will be saved, and the display will return to normal. • To turn off the Craft Ice maker, select the OFF mode. • To turn on the Craft Ice maker, select the 3 ICE or 6 ICE mode.
Yes, the Water Filter icon on the control panel will light up when it is time to change the water filter. Then change the filter. Next, hold the Water Filter icon light and it will reset.
Craft ice takes 48 hours: The icemaker begins producing ice approximately 48 hours after the appliance is initially installed. The first batches of ice may not be round and clear. Did you turn ice making on? Ice On/Off - Press and hold the Ice On/Off button for three seconds to turn the in-door icemaker on/off.
@@All-about-everything They fixed my pet gripe with icemaker. I had an older LG fridge. The ice used to get frozen into a large single iceburg in the icemaker every couple of days, Id have to get something heavy (e.g. my sharpening steel out of the knife block) and jam it into the icemaker and break up the iceburg. The metal hook in the icemaker does it for you now.

We had an LG top French double door refrigerator with a pull-out freezer on the bottom for years. Then we moved it to laundry room and put the new side-by-side in the kitchen. The lady likes it. I am still trying to get used to small fresh food and more frozen food!
The lady really likes it. We had a top french door system for years where the shelves were much more adjustable and with less space between the shelves. I got used to that storage. With the new refrigerator, the shelves have a lot more room between each. So it is great for stacking or packing tall items on each shelf. That is the only think I need to get used to, but I am not the supreme commander of the refrigerator in our house. As far as style, quietness, ice makers, WiFi, size - it is a great refrigerator.
