I tore mine in 1997 at 22 years old. I had a great surgeon, and I did the pt like crazy. I’ve been snowboarding, skating, running marathons, all kinds of stuff since then. You’ll get over it and keep rocking.

Thrasher is a company operating under capitalism trying to maximize its profit. They need content to sell advertisements. They get content by skaters trying to get soty. Giving that title away would mean less content the following year by that particular skater. Less content means less ads and less money.
“Nothing person, it’s just busyness” - ice Cube
This is just a example of how capitalism creates perverse financial incentives.
This isn’t really that bad when considering the extremes like knowingly lying about tobacco or lead products on the markets just because it’s in their financial interests.
Monsanto or Exxon mobile have a financial incentive to put dangerous products on the market and lie about the dangers they know and are withholding that information from the public.
Exxon knew in the 70s that CO2 would be an issue but they are a company operating under capitalism that wants to maximize its profit even if that means dismissing ethics or morality.
Principles become a liability under capitalism. A competitor without those principles will outcompete you.
It becomes a race to the bottom. Those worse around us will be rewarded for undesirable behavior.
There is a reason why insulin cost 600 a vile and trump NFTs sold out. This is the capitalist nightmare that we were all born into. Our cities and towns are designed to serve it not us. It doesn’t end there. Our lives are structured to serve it.
What we wear, what we do, where we go, for 40-60 hours a week after being raised in a work simulation.
It doesn’t have to be like this
What is profitable is usually not the right thing to do so we now live in a hell of our own creation.
So what if the world is brutal and the concept of good and evil is just a human construct that doesn’t really exist. Still choose to be good especially when it’s easy because we need more compassionate people.
It’s like capitalism is a excuse for “civilized gentlemen” to commit atrocities like slavery or overthrowing a democratically elected leader by funding a military coup that is sympathetic to American business interest who then go on to set up a banana republic.
You know how when you look real close at a painting you can’t see the big picture.
It’s the same thing with the mainstream society we were all born into. It seems normal because we are stuck in this paradigm.
Clean food, water, energy, shelter, education, healthcare and relationships with friends and family are “basic necessities”
These are real. Everything else voluntary. You could choose to skate or make intercontinental ballistic missiles and stuff envelopes with junk mail.
      Ok, last thing
Most labor under capitalism is a form of coercion. Our basic needs are withheld for money. We must work to get this money. If we don’t won’t than we can not get what we need to survive.
We have more houses than homeless people. We throw away food while people go hungry. Our productivity has surpassed our ability to pay for the goods being produced.
So why then have people work jobs just for the sake of working? The things needed to survive exist so any issue that prevents us from using these things is artificial.

Nyjah and his crew should definitely consider producing and dropping some real shit…
Create some genuine, in-depth content on his rehabilitation and journey back to the top… Show the side you don’t often see in skateboarding - the injuries, and all that goes with it.
Seeing his true grit, determination, strength, maturity and mentality that he has as a pro skater - shed some light on the life of a professional skateboarder.
He’s got the crew, resources, creatives, sponsors, top healthcare to make it happen.
You’ve seen this sort of production done in other sports- footballers (soccer), basketball, tennis etc. on Sky Sports, ESPN or on team behind the scenes videos.
But Nyjah has the creative recourses to do this from a skater’s POV, and do something new and creative.
Seeing tangible progression: from surgery to the day he first steps back on his board, to the plethora of tricks he’ll have to relearn. There’s so much there that’ll make his comeback story so interesting.
With the true professional Nyjah is, you know not cutting corners, he’s putting his all, - 100% and no less - into this battle. Nyjah has the discipline, determination, mentality of a true sporting great.

Nyjah - Wishing you a speedy and healthy recovery from ACL. I tore my ACL 22 years ago due to skateboarding. It is an excruciating pain and recovery. Thank God I feel better but my knee is not the same and will never be the same regardless whatever doctors or people say. Any lateral movements I make playing sports or pushing my skateboard is uncomfortable and weak. Don't forget about change of weather may affect your knee. Anyhow, I highly suggest wearing a brace when skateboarding or playing any sport. It may look ugly or not cool looking but trust me, it will help protect your knee from future injuries and skate with confidence. Look forward to your fast and strong recovery and see you shred the streets again soon. God bless.

Glad to hear the surgery went really well man! I honestly felt the same way you felt about surgery lol, i broke my left arm in 7th grade playing “smear the queer” on the side field at a football game and my friend fell butt first on my arm. So its like literally dangling and were all rushing to the other end of the field where the ambulance was and my mind was going crazy thinking im going to need surgery, crying my eyes out etc.. lmao i pray you have a complete full recovery and back at it at the right time. Dont rush it ❤

I had my ACL/meniscus surgery on September 8th, tore it skating local park. I'm just cruising around and doing manuals these days and tons of PT. Best wishes for both our recovery processes.

Any sort of knee injuries are devastating. Months after i torn my patella tendon, i kept wondering how do people that skates, parkour or do heavy sports that includes lots of jumping have such strong knees. I never want it to happen to anyone, and i cant believe my favourite childhood skater from project8 has become a victim. Speedy recover to you Nyjah.

When you’ve sent it at an extremely high percentage like Nyjah has for all those years you’re bound to get a knock or two here and there, this isn’t anything too major for an elite athlete in this day and age if it’s handled properly. Long story short Nyjah is a freak of nature.

That's from landing full speed sideways with your legs locked out..Like you said though you came off that rail instantly so there was no way you can adjust your momentum that quick...One problem I saw too was the angle you tried to lock in at. Your momentum was already moving sideways before you even hit the rail. The only tricked that would've maybe stuck would've been a BS lip or board... If you get a cadaver tendon/ ligament, with some stem cells shot in, you'll come back stronger then before..Take psychical therapy super serious too. Worst thing for your knee is landing full speed, legs extended sideways...Hope you recover quickly bro
