Crazy the timing of this video! I been struggling with early extension for a while now and never really knew how to get rid of it. My hips would move into the ball and my back foot would slide from trying to still rotate. Gonna give this a shot
I just wanted to let you know that this video seems to have been a real "lightbulb moment" for me (knocks on wood). I had been trying to do the chair drill and focus on getting my left hip back, but it just wasn't working for me. After watching this video, your first and second points about posture, weight, and keeping your head height made me realize that my head was dipping forward towards my toes by like 3-4 inches in my backswing. So naturally, I was hitting it fat and couldn't stop early extending. I tried some practice and drills focusing on keeping my head height (head on the wall drill helped) and it felt so weird, like I was standing up, but on camera, my head was just stable (actually still dropping by maybe an inch). In my first round since since practicing it in my basement, I focused the whole time on being balanced, not dropping my head on the backswing, and firing my left hip back for the downswing. Over the front 9, I was settling in and getting it dialed in, and by the back 9 it was becoming much more reliable. I was striking the ball so much better and hitting it straighter than before, to the point that I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and I would suddenly lose it. I went 50/43, which was my best back 9 and overall lowest score relative to par, and actually hit 4 greens on the back 9. Again, hoping I don't jinx it by saying all of this, but I am going to keep working on it and try to give it some range time as well. Thanks!
Brilliant
Thanks bud!
Fab 2.
When you use pressure pads, you put the front one under the ball of your lead foot and push down into it. Do you push the lead hip back with pressure from the ball of your lead foot?
I feel like most want to start the squat with their knees but is it tilting the pelvis right before the top that starts the squat?
😁👍
Thanks bud!
Do you come out of your squat after you hit the ball?
Lead side extension through impact spikes the vertical forces out of the ground stored by the squat 👍🏼
@@jchowngolf.. is the lead side extension executed using the ball of the left foot, ie where is the pressure in the left foot, thanks
Can I do online lessons?! If so, how!? I am a 1 handicap and have been there for years and can’t get better. Played college golf and want to progress.
You absolutely can. Throw me over a message on Skillest (link in the description) and we’ll dive into the details 👍🏼
It might just be me, but I can't see sam squat like😢🫨😶🌫️
Watch his hat against the tree in the background while stopping/starting the video.
Why do so many things in golf seem to make no physical or mathematical sense? If I setup upright and set the club face behind the ball but then squat during the swing OBVIOUSLY I am going to hit it fat behind the ball!!
..nah if you rotate properly you’ll hit ball first, also don’t rush the downswing 👍
Because a lot of people will tend to take their backswing then involuntarily come out of their posture in an effort to gain power on the way down/through, thus losing their posture or inclination to the ball. Doing that presents many issues in terms of contact, etc. in golf we only want to keep as much consistency as possible and at such a high speed, the above is a more difficult way to go about it. Therefore this coach is presenting an easier way to keep the swing consistent. If you keep your hips and pelvis back (ie squat from the top) and turning throughout the downswing, it is much easier to make it possible to maintain that inclination or distance to the ball while maintaining the potential for power/to hit the ball efficiently. Understand?
bro, you didn't squat once......
You’re right. I went into hip flexion 👍🏼
