      Your guna have to look at little further then albo and Bowen for blame. We started buying cheap junk from China in the 80s and 90s. There have been multiple liberal and labour governments that have not fixed the issues. Did you forget Tony Abbott was solely responsible for the demise of Holden? Holden: was the biggest and ONLY car manufacturer in Australia! Leitho is not highlighting this in his podcasts enough and is a liberal supporter. Be very careful what you take from his advice.

    If renewables are so cheap why are your energy bills going up ?

    • @gtvwill
      @gtvwill День тому +1

      Because we're paying for massive increased maintenance costs on ancient infrastructure from the coal Era. Stations that are old af being kept online by high prices maintenance. Don't forget half of the companies charging us overpriced prices for our gas are the same that run coal infrastructure. Of you think the same folks who rip you off on gas prices are going to magically stop ripping you off on coal your an absolute Muppet. Leiths spouting mostly ideological bs during these interviews lately. Private industry are reaming the dollars into renewables because their cheap and easy to make a profit on. Even easier to make a profit on when you have coal and gas setting massively overpriced base levels and you can sell your renewables for fat returns.
      For commentators of economics and an economic channel its like y'all don't understand the basics of business and profit. You just resort to old world propaganda propped up by a dying sectors investors who are upset because to keep their infra alive it requires gov intervention and they can't get it.

    As an Australian citizen, I don't identify that energy policy has anything to do with what I voted for. As a matter of fact, nobody who voted can prove the names, addresses, and photos of who voted for those who wrote such corrupt policies in the first place because as far as the judiciary and executive branches of government are concerned, it's who counts the votes that count. And the central bank will gladly print free money for them to grow in size.

    looking at the capital costs of coal plants built ~2000 it looks like it was about $1.5bn a GW, so about $3bn today. Most remaining coal power plants are due to close over the next 15 years and the NEM is 25GW so if we were to continue "business as usual" with a 100% coal grid that would be a capital cost of $75Bn plus the greatly increased ongoing costs compared to Solar Wind Batteries. The Capital cost of $150Bn to $200Bn for the renewable rollout does not seem anywhere near as bad in this light.
    In the short term taking Australia's domestic gas usage off of the international market by ensuring local supply at a fair price first is definitely the best path forward.

    As for gas Leith, you know full well that Howard gave it all away to China, a 25 year contract with no return to Australia. And when the ALP started to tax Petroleum exports at a higher rate, the Abbott Government repealed the legislation. As for the cost increases in gas being caused by the construction of LNG import terminals, you are also well aware the Turnbull Government did not invoke the the gas reservation policy but were happy to see these three LNP import terminals constructed, at great expense to local consumers.
    I think you owe Albo and Bowen an apology.
