- I never knew you could take an ear of corn with the shuck, the silks and everything and just put it in the microwave for a few minutes and have the best corn!!! Howard Johnson tried to tell me, but I saw it done on Rachael Ray and did it myself and it WORKS!! In this video, I show you the proof on how you can microwave an ear of corn and the shucks, the silks and all just come right off, you put butter, salt and pepper on it and eat it in a matter of minutes.

Don’t cut that end till AFTER you cook them then make sure you are cutting enough off the end so the corn will slip out.
Wow that's great Debbie, I'm going to try this also.
I bet by now you've had some recommendations that the corn should be cooked 4 mins PER ear. I think that is why the corn didn't come out so easy. Also it matters where you cut it. It has to be above where the silks attach to the cob. My instructions were to cut off the end AFTER they were done. Looks like that might not make such a difference and wouldn't be as hot. I'll have to try that. Also,,,, other than this method, I have been fixing it in the micro for many years. The instructions came with my micro in 1981 ($500). Strip the husks and silks as usual then wrap each ear in wax paper with the ends twisted. It worked...but this is quicker and easier. Of course there is just 2 of us eating it now and it wouldn't work so well with a larger family!!
Very nice indeed! I love corn on the cob but I peel mine in store and wash it thoroughly before cooking. But this is a nice way to de-silk them fast, thanks for sharing. I cant wait to watch the videos you posted on chicken recipes. I have them in my watch later category.....yummy yummy
Debbie I wrap mine and place them in my roaster on low, and turn it off , keeps them warm until you are done cooking enough of them for your meal. I keep baked potatoes like this also. And another tip on hot summer days or if you are in a hurry bake your potatoes in the microwave peel and dice for potato salad, works like a breeze and no messy pot to clean up.
Thanks Lu, awesome tips! Don't forget to send me in your favorite recipe to FoodPrepping@gmail.com I bet you've got some amazing recipes that you use constantly and I would love to make some. Have a great day!!
Do you cook it warms then I'll you have to pull back the corn shuck to get the worm out of it if there's any
I love corn on the cob:) with lots of butter and S&P!
FYI dont cut the cob till after cooking, and squeeze done easyer
4 minutes per ear perfect
I discovered that as soon as the ears are out of the microwave you must put the squeeze on them and they pop right out. If they sit for awhile they won't pop so swell. So, don't give up on this approach!
love your accent
Deb I do my corn this way and it works great. I love it cause when my grandson comes over I just pop it in the micro and in 4 mins, for 2 ears, he has his snack and he loves it. Thanks so much for the video. :)
Interesting. I always cook mine at four minutes for each cob. So in this case, I woulda miked them for 12 minutes. What do I know? Nutthin.
Thank you SO much.
Do yours all pop out like they should?
What did the fish say when it hit a wall ... dam
Ha ha ha! but really...great video. I was wondering...have you ever microwaved corn? :) would love to see a video of you trying that some time. - a big fan
This is a demonstration of what NOT to do. Should not have cut the ends off until AFTER cooking. Also, should have cooked longer, 3 to 4 minutes per ear. They should have come out too hot to hold, requiring a towel or oven mitt.
I have used my micro for years from the time the first one came out, it was an Amana. And honey I ain't young. LMBO
Kim Belcher Kim, We bought our first microwave in 1985 and paid $500 for it and it lasted for over 25 years before it finally hit the great appliance graveyard. It was a Westinghouse and man it was worth every penny we paid for it. lol
Our 1st was a brand called 'Litton'. I think they went out of business sometime in the 2000s, but who knows?
BTW, I thought we were the coolest family on our street when we got our 1st microwave oven. That was 1980. Good times!
Yes 4 minutes Debbie and they will slide out- no silks
You should not cut before you should cut after.
You Need to do them for 5 minets each Debbie and they'll pop right out!
421werelate are you saying 5 minutes per ear? They did 2 on Rachael Ray and cooked it for 4 minutes and theirs came out but they were so good. I wrapped them in aluminum foil with some margarine until dinner was ready and they were perfect. :)
Ya I Think so Debbie, Check out Chef John on 'Food Wishes.com' he's also here on Utube! Terrific Job Honey!!
Awe Shucks!! You suppose to cook in microwave b4 cutting and taking corn out of the shucks!
You’re cutting it too far up you’re gonna lose a whole era corn by the time you’re cutting all three
Seems a waste of corn. Looks like too much corn cut away.
What the fuck you didn't know you could cook corn in a microwave?
So emotional. I’ll bet your husband regrets marrying you.
