the led sled should be the heaviest one, as, in that time period, people would fill their body panels (fenders, doors, etc) with lead to make it heavier and therefore, ride lower on the stock suspension.
8:00 My mom learned how to drive with a car that had one of those. It's a fairly common setup for 3 speed manuals. People call it a "three on the tree"
I believe 3 gears were the best option for older cars. Since engines weren't powerful enough for 4,5,6 or 7 gears, well 4 gears maybe but I don't see anyone using them in those times unless the gear ratio was changed.
You should do a video with load-carrying vehicles seeing how many cinder blocks they can carry. Suspension tweaks and engine power changes should make things interesting
Also, there was so much more head room in these cars, NOT because the seats were lower than modern cars, but because the roofs were HIGHER. A lot of cars designed in the late 30's through the 1950's had high roofs, because sooo many people wore hats then, and it was inconvenient to take them off. You don't want little Jimmy in the back seat, stripping the bow off of your fedora, just because your car ceiling was so low, that you would bump your hat, if you wore it... The lower and wider modern car movement, didn't come about, until around the 1957 Chevy.
Driving along a bumpy road fast, is smoother, because you have a wash board effect, of using bumps to give you lift so that the car kind of glides over the other bumps.
to answer your question about the headlights. Most of the cars I have driven are 1950s GMs. The sealed beam lights they used are just as good if not better then what we have today, because the glass lens on front in designed to focus the beams. Plus with them being sealed and glass they don't fade or get moisture in them.
The reason why there wasn't much damage compared to modern day cars might be because back then cars were made of strong heavy metals that doesn't crumple, whereas cars today are lighter and are made of materials to reduce the impact on the people inside
you're right headlights would have been a lot dimmer in the fifties because vehicles used 6 volt electrical systems instead of 12 volts like modern cars so they were a much dinner in the fifties with the 6 volt system.
Hey WhyBeAre! I have a downloaded this game on my laptop (ASUS A55VD, i7-3610QM GEFORCE 610M, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD) but it cant handle this game very well. The only map I can mess in is Gridmap. I it worth it to pay €20,- for it to get a legal version? or cannt my laptop handle this? Sorry for my bad Englisch (Im dutch ;))
the leadslead would be a better candidate for the convertibilizer. oh well. the davs absolutely need to make a derby and a hotrod version of this car, do you agree?
don't know about anyone else but yellow headlights make it easier to see stuff then these new blue/white lights they have now. the new bright ones seem to burn out faster to me too then just a normal long life bulb.
Also clear lights are much easier to see since you can see the natural colour of the objects. And led car lights are made to focus light so you can see even further.
Hmm, never thought about if there's a difference in brightness with old headlights, not seen them side by side so never compared them, I would assume they are brighter than back then...
The manual, it is a three speed on The column. That's why it dosent have an indicator. All the old cars that are manual. Are that way it's the same as a floor shift but it's just on the column.
does he not realize this car is a predecessor of the Gavril Burnside from Rigs of Rods? come on Whybeare, learn rigs of Rods. it's the predecessor of a game you made a career off of.
Dear whybeare,in the 50's cars where made of medal instead of the stuff we use now. That is one of the reasons that the burnside lasts so long during crashes, but that car does go pretty slow. But if you really think about it if u compaired a 70mph crash to a regular car the burnside would fair better because that car is made of metal and metal is stronger than the aluminum we use now.If you read this far then u can tell mom that you learned somthing from #youtube
the led sled should be the heaviest one, as, in that time period, people would fill their body panels (fenders, doors, etc) with lead to make it heavier and therefore, ride lower on the stock suspension.
I think "led sled" is just a nickname
8:00 My mom learned how to drive with a car that had one of those. It's a fairly common setup for 3 speed manuals. People call it a "three on the tree"
Day 17: Indicators are still blinking.
After 4 years, the indicators are still on. Will report back when battery dies.
really
21:45 O_o the headlights are looking hilarious! :D
I believe 3 gears were the best option for older cars. Since engines weren't powerful enough for 4,5,6 or 7 gears, well 4 gears maybe but I don't see anyone using them in those times unless the gear ratio was changed.
4:39. You actually made it really symmetrical!!! Good job!!!
You should do a video with load-carrying vehicles seeing how many cinder blocks they can carry. Suspension tweaks and engine power changes should make things interesting
Cinder block walls*
Good job WhyBeAre! If this wouldn't be the video for the Burnside Special and for something else I would been so mad at you. :D
i can't wait for the campaign for this game
Burnside: "you spin me right round baby right round like a record baby, right round round round"
The panning in this video was so much better than in previous videos. Thanks for not spinning around like a top! :)
No crumple-zones, all glass windows, all steel construction and no seatbelts. Wow, these things were death machines.
No wonder it held up so well...
+twistedyogert Yes, but much better looking than modern vehicles. 100x better than any Prius or modern car in terms of look.
Hmmm... I guess
+Michael Trosak You said it!
Jackson Tyer :)

Your channels getting really big really fast congrats 1 mill is not gonna be long
that car + the beam regenerate mod = CHRISTINE!
THAT GREEN THO :P love that 50's minty green
Are you playing with steer and pedals or with keyboard?
Actually,The vehicle bears a very strong resemblace to the 1951 windsor deluxe.
The reason why there wasn't much damage compared to modern day cars might be because back then cars were made of strong heavy metals that doesn't crumple, whereas cars today are lighter and are made of materials to reduce the impact on the people inside
YOUR SO AWESOME WHYBEARE I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS EVERY DAY THEY COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first one's transmission is known as a "three on the tree", they are hard to find and the game only showed first gear on the shifter.
'Supermatic' the way you said it was so funny 14:18
Haha I have a Mini from 1987 and the first thing I did was get halogen bulbs for it, the old ones were like holding candles out in front of you XD
"We're gonna get really hairy really fast, like a gorilla" WhyBeAre - 2K16
You make insane crashes and I like it.
you're right headlights would have been a lot dimmer in the fifties because vehicles used 6 volt electrical systems instead of 12 volts like modern cars so they were a much dinner in the fifties with the 6 volt system.
the bulbs in that kind of car are both huge and inefficient, but bright. A modern bulb probably wouldnt try to fix that.

+Elias011203 TF2 I've set the grafics on lowest settings... maybe it because its a laptop?
CHECK FOR BOTTLENECKS, YOU DO MEET SPECS
S
WhyBeAre,You have to remember cars back then were made of steel or iron (i forgot which) which is alot stronger than most modern day cars.
the leadslead would be a better candidate for the convertibilizer. oh well.
the davs absolutely need to make a derby and a hotrod version of this car, do you agree?
Elias011203 TF2
additionaly, the could madmax a barstow
nice work WhyBeAre!!
+WhyBeAre Will you play more infera?
Infra*
It seems likely, he did do an update video showing that it's fixed with quite a playthrough video
Musclecarlover7 Yea, he seems to like the game. I do,
Whybeare I really like your videos. This is Anthony
You sound so much more into these games than you did in your old videos.
Its called real american steel and vehicle, thats why it held up so good
Aka, land ships
Land Turds XD
+yeet yahh they wernt as safe because they diddnt take as much of the force like this new stuff does
No crumple zones or seatbelts...
Thank goodness Volvo invented safety!
I agree, especially Ford.
31:00 "Apparently only the sides are flammable" i guess thats why its called the "Burnside" Special
Thank you very much for posting this. I've been waiting a long time for this review.
Am I the only one who thought the yellow Burnside was a taxi?
I did 😂
Reminds me of the taxi from Just Cause (1)
Great job WhyBeAre your awesome dude
the shifter is supposed to be o the column. It's commonly referred to as a "three on the tree" setup.
That Burnside Special can take a beating. That had to be 4 to 5 hits like dammmm.
Destroying a Toyo... Ahem Burnside
Will you make more videos on Dirt Rally?
"you're gonna need back fixins"
WhyBeAre
2016
Thank god. You finally finished!
Manual on the column is known as 3 on the tree, my 79 Ford truck had it.
I live in Poland, but I like this chanal very mutch!
I think it is great!
In a restored antique car if it has been converted to a 12-volt battery the headlights would be easily as bright as a modern cars.
Though I am only a teenager I know for a fact that that interior is almost perfect compared to cars of that design from that era
Car bodies were stronger back then... That's how a car holds up, when its body is made of steel.
BeamNG drive + just cause 3 = best game in the world
Speechless...
This would be amazing
You left your left blinker on the whole time grandpa.
8:00 the reason the shifter is on the column is because that's where they were in the 50's 60's and the 70's before they were on the floor
3 speed on the column used to be a thing on cars from that era
when he got started on the bridge you could hear the tail pipe backfire
how many hours do you have on the game on steam
+TH3 OM3GA GAM3R Like 20, usually i just launch the game not through Steam.
+WhyBeAre i have over 300 :P
+WhyBeAre. reaveal youre face plz
I got 62
+WhyBeAre do you know how much not on steam
the reason why its called a burnside is because it does good burnouts
YBR, the first car that you used, you had an automatic shifter. Select the manual column shifter.
4:30 very rally-driving style there by still insisting to drive after a couple of violent crashes
The black car looks like one of those spy cars like in those old movies
The lead sled looks like a spy car
When whybeare did a burnout, you could say it's Burnside paradise.
(The joke is that there's a game called burnout paradise)
WhyBeAre the design of the shifter being on the steering column is called "three on the tree" just so you know ;)
Nice Car YBR, my grandpa said he wanted to buy it from you for 115,000$, what is your address so we can come, and inspect it?
[RandomBryan] Are you a girl, because males, and females are typically raised with a different mindset.
+TheftHacker HD no I'm a male you horse. Your irrelevant. This is a game not real life. So no your "grandfather" cannot buy the car.
[RandomBryan] Ok... :(
+[RandomBryan] Are you off of your meds today? Do I need to call your parents?
+[RandomBryan] Nah bruh I'm on my meds today. Also, *you're

don't know about anyone else but yellow headlights make it easier to see stuff then these new blue/white lights they have now. the new bright ones seem to burn out faster to me too then just a normal long life bulb.
Led's don't burn out easily. Such as our devices some of them use led lights and they're long lasting.
Also clear lights are much easier to see since you can see the natural colour of the objects. And led car lights are made to focus light so you can see even further.
What controller do you use and how do you have it set up
what processor do you have...? intel i3 sux
Hmm, never thought about if there's a difference in brightness with old headlights, not seen them side by side so never compared them, I would assume they are brighter than back then...
Do more crashes and inside ceashes I'm a big fan of your vids
+Dave Rivera same
For the dual-matic version when you crashed it, if I were in that car, I hope I was sitting in the trunk.
Year 7: the blinkers are still blinking.
i love your videos
The auto still shifts better than mine, this took about a second, whereas if you drove my car to a similar rpm it'll take about 3
The hand break in this car is almost the exact same as my 2000 frontier's handbreak
If in correct the Lead Sled version is actually meant to be kind of like hot rod of 50s style drag car. That's why the roof is chopped.
This would pair great with that 49 Cadillac series 62.
If you take the moonhalk drag and take off the body then drive it at like 200 miles per hour it will leave a cool trail of fire
When are you going to play more Dirt Rally?
11:20 no, it's because cars back then were made of steel, and not fiberglass
The manual, it is a three speed on The column. That's why it dosent have an indicator. All the old cars that are manual. Are that way it's the same as a floor shift but it's just on the column.
WhyBeAre perfect editing 16:05great transition
The reason it is so strong is because it is a completely steel, 4 ton, deathtrap.
Hey YBR you should set some cars on fire using the breakgroups app!
favorite UA-camr
does he not realize this car is a predecessor of the Gavril Burnside from Rigs of Rods? come on Whybeare, learn rigs of Rods. it's the predecessor of a game you made a career off of.

Aluminium is a metal.
What do you mean by "fare better"
+Uncle Chopper *Fair
A manual gear box with the shifter on the steering column was a thing back then
went to buy beamng, started typing "whybeare" in the search box
4:37 Great whybeare you make a demo car.
The original burnside was from Rigs of Rods
You have such a good computer
he said "bruckel logo" when he was checking out the interior
three on the tree gear selectors are most definately a thing
could you do more gravity tests with cars please.
13:52 steering with your feet. Sounds like something Apple or Windows would do, if they made cars.
I wish they would add a small smoke machine and if u crash the burnout u can put a smoke device
