We are busy filming a series on refrigerators! There will be 75 videos to cover all the troubleshooting and repairs so it's a big one to film and edit. We don't have a video on the automatic Zurn Flushometer but it might be similar to one of the piston style American Standard: ua-cam.com/play/PLCo9SMjkdWBypfd69rUJSWqCYqFVDvAzw.html

I opened my malfunctioning timer. I found the resistor to be open (which explains why the timer was not running). However, the wire on the resistor goes to pin 2 on mine instead of pin 1 (as seen in your example).
The circuit in your example makes sense. The neutral (3) and common (1) provide the power for the timer motor. Pin 1 then completes the circuit for the compressor (4) or defrost (2). The problem I am experiencing is that my neutral loses power after the timer is plugged in. (I think it's possessed.) If I run a neutral directly to the timer from the outlet, the timer runs fine with the cooling and defrost cycles working as they should. Fridge temp 40 on the middle shelf, and the freezer is at 0 on the top shelf. Perfect temps. Right now, the neutral from the outlet comes in through the refrigerator door. At some point, I will just drill a 1/4" hole through the front of the fridge to the back and run a new wire that taps into neutral just before the power cord connects to the fridge. Any other thoughts. This one has me stumped. It started icing up after I put in new water valves. (That's when I discovered the auto-defrost wasn't working.) I grounded the bracket directly to the frame of the fridge, but that had no effect.
@@jimbyrne4741 If you did an A/B test and showed that the neutral supplying the defrost timer is weak, then it can be helpful to check all visible connections. Also check to see if any of the wires are pinched or if the wires are damaged. We are currently working on filming videos for refrigerator repairs which will be released later in 2022. Unfortunately we won't be covering how to install a new wire harness or wires as this varies between models so it's hard to be specific. One more thing you can check is the continuity of the power cord itself (but it seems like the other components are working fine, so that might not be necessary)
Thanks for watching. In some models the cold control thermostat is connected before the defrost timer. In this case you are right that the defrost timer will only run when the cold control thermostat connects power. This means that it will take 8 hours of run time during the cooling cycle for the defrost timer to switch into a defrost cycle. This might take more than 8 hours on the clock as cooling cycles on and off.
Thanks for watching. The compressor will turn on and off as needed by the cold control thermostat. 8 hours of run time will likely take more than 8 hours of real time. If the compressor runs about 75% of the time then it will be about 10 hours between the next defrost cycle.
Hey can you help me pls, my refrigerator needed manually rotating the timer but then I replaced timer with new one, it is still not working after 8 hours, now what's the issue?
Thanks for watching. The defrost timer will always turn as long as there is power so yes it will shut itself off after usually 30 minutes of running the defrost cycle.
Thanks for watching. If your model has a mechanical defrost timer like this, then it could be an issue with the contacts sticking. You can test the timer for continuity with a multimeter to see if the cooling circuit contacts complete the circuit. As well it might be good to try installing a new defrost timer to see if it helps.
Sr.install new timer cooling cycle complit worked but heter cycle time is stucked moter is not working continues worked heter.remove the heter 2pin disconnecte after timer moter is working what is the reason sr please help me
Thanks for watching. Your question isn't clear but I will try to help you identify the problem.. After you installed a new defrost timer, does the defrost cycle stay on? Are you able to manually turn the screw to change it between cooling and defrost? Does cooling still work? There are other components of the defrost circuit that can be checked. So timer getting common from thermostat control right? So if thermostat is open how it possible that timer continue to spin?

Thanks for watching. This defrost timer was from a GE fridge but many share this same basic design.
These things run off of cam and drum logic?
Thanks for watching. These defrost timers are quite fascinating devices all things considering.
8 hours/ 20 min. Does it mean the compressor runs continuously for 8 hours and then run defrost continuously for 20 minutes? Is 12 hour/25 min better?
