The most I’ve seen is 38 on regular and power shots. Is anyone else getting this or is this just me being bad at aiming or something.
Yo Phem, would you ever consider doing an overview of the metagame throughout the series? Even if it's only focused on gunning that'd be an interesting watch.
You don't have to not use Bow just because the core meta sets are broken in damage, it's still a fun weapon to play. If it's your preference and you don't want to feel like you are cheating do something off-meta with it and have fun.
@@KiwiOnTheTube Ye he got like wex 2 con 2 with a bunch of slots. It’s pretty ironic when someone who’s playing with that kind of charm is trying to communicate how op the weapon is. I still agree with everything said in the video though
I think the problem for him is the bugged on arrow elem calculation. Since it's like 20% increase in elem dmg so it should feel like you always using exploitation especially for someone who concern about using glitches or exploits. Same as me which always avoid exploiting(or even META) on any Solo/MP games.
Elemental damage, sure. But I'm not so sure about the cancelling - The character loads the bow (pulls the bowstring back) in the charge step animation already, so releasing the arrow is all that's left of the animation after it, and it's really fast. You can even buffer it way before the slide ends. The animation for the power shot (pressing A) plays completely, so that seems fine. The only thing you're cancelling is the "wind down" animation of the shot after the dash, which is common for any weapon doing any combo (the combo here being shot -> powershot). Been testing this myself, and it becomes more obvious when using something like evade extender. Anyways, just my 2 cents.
@@gh3superflame584 like you said thats after every move. the bow slide cancel is literally during the move which basically doubles the amount of arrows you shoot per frame. if it were true for every weapon its like hitting twice with a greatsword by spamming x during an overheadslash animation

So might be dumb but just to be clear the info you have on how mechanics are supposed to work and function are from datamines? Because I literally can't find legitimate info anywhere Is it just not available?
The datamines he was talking about was from the demo, so it might not be a bug since the full game tweaked a lot of values. The cancelling though most likely is
If they dont fix the Helm splitter hitbox or all the broken things in bowgun i would not expect them to "fix" bow, all weapons should be treated the same
What would be your reaction if they never "fixed" it after all patches, would you actually accept that this is what they intended with the weapon or would you still think it was unintended, cause lets face it, these are the same guys that gave LS a counter that has massive i-frames, deals damage AND raises a spirit bar level if it hits, without any cost other than "know the timing" aka, play the weapon well and the same team that still treats Gunlance like garbage, balancing is NOT capcom's strong point.
These are not "bugs," just changes. Also, Power Shot always animation cancel, whether you're dashing or not. What you have to keep in mind is that the game was not designed with you sweaty gamers who have spent a bagilllion hours on the series. For people like that, the bow is very "meta" cuz it's a ranged weapon that allows you to have extremely high uptime, dodging everything while still aiming for weak points. For the average player though, the bow has some very significant downsides. I love how the "meta" only takes into account 10% of the playerbase. This is most likely cuz only 10% care enough about a "meta" to be talking about it.
If they 'fix' the rapid/power animation cancel, then i want either quick shot or a mighty bow deco dont know about this one chief. i do agree about the numbers needing to be what they say it is, if the arrows are ignoring values, thats a bug.
Can someone kindly explain how the slide abuse works? I can’t seem to pull it off... I’m trying slide > zr > a (as fast as I can). And can’t seem to get it done right
Well, I suppose it's tradition at this point that some crazy animation cancel bug exists in a MH game. Also fulfilling tradition of a ranged weapon being stupid unreasonably overpowered.
I hate finding out about this stuff cuz it makes my sense of accomplishment/improvement feel unnearned y'know? 😔 But it's also important to know about so
Goddamn, let weapons be as they are, not everyone will play any weapon just because its doing good damage! You can cheese anything with a half-decent build in the game. This is likely going to trash the bow down to shit if they decide to nerf. This is why we can’t have nice things smfh 🙄😑 you can also make animation cancel with other weapons as well, btw.
No animation cancels are as ridiculous as this one though, you gotta admit. Besides, world bow didnt have this and it was also one of, if not the best weapon in the game.
I mean its Japanese them, yeah the long sword and the bow was going to be the go to weapons. I am not mad at it tho, I like a lot of the weapons and seeing how they work better for each monster.
bow ain't gonna change that much even if the so called "bug" is removed. To do it properly you need to buffer the attack as you slide and time the power shot very precisly. Doing this on a moving target with just a controller is very hard. Its better to aim properly rather than try to cancel animation just to save 0.5 seconds.
It will matter for speedrunerrs who exploit the ai, know what the monster will do where it will be, and restart missions over and over for best times. The on paper efficient things is what they can use that we don't in normal play with randos. But yes your are right for most people and scenarios and normal play it probably will not matter because it will be difficult especially online with randoms moving the monster around, except for when it gets to pc where aiming is way easier it will probably see alot of use. Also .5 of a second is theoretically half the time it should take, leading to double the shots, for a way shorter on paper half time hunt.
the damage is insane but , based on my experience and my experience only , i found it quite hard to play , you have to play very close to monsters et you are very squishy
If you use a pierce bow you can actually play far away from the monster, there's actually also a skill called ballistics which makes you able to stand farther away from a monster too, even works with close range coatings. Works with any bow, but paired with a pierce one you can stand super far away.
Its funny how I didn't knew any of this stuff but I felt like the bow was kinda op. Like I was dealing waaay more damage with it than other weapons but didn't really feel like it was because I was really good with it but instead bc it was just kinda OP. Turns out I was right... I suck but the weapon is broken lol
See I dont min/max or anything. So I honestly don't do the whole meta chasing part but even I noticed the rapid power cancel thing. But honestly I don't think it is so broken you should stay away from it. Just don't lean on that aspect so when it's removed you aren't effect too much.

@@jet-blackjo2455 my point is balance doesn't matter when the game isn't competitve having an edge over someone else doesn't matter when the multiplayer part of the game is both optional and not competitive. I don't think anyone is going to notice or even care if you have someone in your group doing 5-10% more damage.
@@facehugger8995 i mean speedrunner notice it pretty quickly, also, if it ain't balanced, then why have multiple weapon types at all?
Came to learn about bows, stayed for Prontera
Bro, is this Ragnarok Online music? So nostalgic
Ragnarok online background music. Nice man
I main bow in every mh. It feels crazy overpowered in rise at the moment but I'm just enjoying it after recently playing underwater bow in mh3u.
Pairing that slide with lvl3 evade extender has been great fun.
I really wish sometimes we'd just keep this low-key so they don't fix it ;/
don't worry, they won't. The guy is making things up.
Right? All the best stuff just gets erased, slice ammo, clusters, now the dodge dash
What? You WANT the game to be unbalanced? Why?
@@wobblecrash MH is a pve game so balance doesn’t mater as much as a pvp game
@@itsjustsilver8172 I mean you aren’t wrong, but personally I don’t like having one weapon be objectively better in every way than all the other weapons, it makes the game a lot less interesting imo.
I played Bow in the demo and just felt something and now in game and I love how strong it is
a weapon tuned to my skill level!
Did this stuff ever get patched
Oh found the bow in 3.0 vid
It still works this way
why do hard core players of a game try to ruin it for everyone. every time people like me get a advantage someone like you just have to complain. and capcom seems to listen every time.
I don't understand what your issue is. How is this ruining anything for you at all?
I come to game's like this because they are difficult and don't just hand things to me. I need to work for it and that is a large aspect of the game. If you want an easier game that just makes you OP and hands you shit go play Skyrim or some shit. No easy modes should exist in MH.
Why do casual gamers of a game try to ruin it for everyone? Every time people like me get a game series they like the casuals have to complain and game companies seem to cave to their whining every time.
@@paulvogel6401 but like...you're the one whining here. Base monster hunter games are always easy. Pre-iceborne world was not difficult in the slightest. Once you get over one monster hunter learning curve, they're all pretty easy. If you don't like that about monster hunter then I suggest you find a different series to play. We've been playing the game for quite some time and we don't bat an eye.
@@jojojokokomo I wasn't initially talking to you. But I've been playing MH since the beginning, so I know what they're like. A good chunk of the game revolves around difficulty, though I will admit you are right in that the last two entries have been incredibly easy even through most of G-Rank for MHW. Even MHGU was easy in comparison thanks to all the OP styles.
I certainly don't want the game to get any fucking easier though. Don't know how that came off as a whine, I was poking fun with the last sentence. It's essentially a rephrased copy of his comment.
He's not ruining anything for you; he's pointing out things that are probably bugs that need to be fixed so that more players understand why Capcom needs to change it.
Crit LBG can out dps still the Bow for this meta. We'll see on future patches.
after patch 2.0 what happened? it's still there. Don't listen to this guy and play bow if you want to. This bug he mentioned even ain't broken compared to how other weapons have hysterical i-frames. His made up explanation don't even make sense when you consider what other weapons can do.
So while I don’t think it’s generally fixed after the update, I think they may have... cut bows damage a bit. After the update I haven’t seen a single shot(non aerial aim/dragonoiercer) break 50.
Yes, it is weird if he feels like cheating because he really literally cheated to get a god deco..
@@paulbarola123 lul I didnt know that
@@KiwiOnTheTube Ye he got like wex 2 con 2 with a bunch of slots.

Those data mines are from the demo, are you sure they are still correct? There's been dozens of changes since then
Who cares when you can get those sweet, sweet clicks?
Leaving this here because I haven’t decided a main weapon yet. I’m already at hub rank 7 though
A friend told me to play ragnarok with him and i said not cause i was busy with MHR. Thats me playing RO again, thank you 😂
Do u know If it got patched by now?
"Capcom doesn't like animations canceling" almost every single ones can do that in rise
That's cancelling the very end of the animation; he was plainly talking about cancelling the entire animation (outside of a frame or two).
@@Eladelia just like the kinsect recall, it'll let you cancel almost everything, and you can do it after every single move
@@gh3superflame584 like you said thats after every move. the bow slide cancel is literally during the move which basically doubles the amount of arrows you shoot per frame. if it were true for every weapon its like hitting twice with a greatsword by spamming x during an overheadslash animation
@@joshuaanesdyquiangco3577 I'd say a better analogy would be straight up drawing to a strong charged slash with GS while magically getting the dmg from the first charged slash.
But yeah, the animation cancelling isn't just cancelling the endlag, it's just straight up cancelling the whole animation frame 1 while still getting the projectiles out.
capcom doesn't like cancel aninations?? street fighter became what it is today cause of them lol. but I get what you say. but is it really that of an issue to prioritize when the BG is making hunts - than 3 mins??
I was thinking the same thing when he said Capcom doesn't like cancel animations. Street Fighter and DMC franchise wouldn't even exist if that's the case
If bow is broken then what are the duel blades? I hit a average of 50+ damage of 13 to 20 in no more then 2 sec. now figure that out. I don’t think the bow is broken. Oh and my highest hits are 120
god dam ragnarok prontera background music, awesome!
So might be dumb but just to be clear the info you have on how mechanics are supposed to work and function are from datamines? Because I literally can't find legitimate info anywhere Is it just not available?
The datamines he was talking about was from the demo, so it might not be a bug since the full game tweaked a lot of values. The cancelling though most likely is
It is actually. None of my other weapons can compare with the bow
surprise surprise bow is broken again. welcome back Kelbibow.
If they dont fix the Helm splitter hitbox or all the broken things in bowgun i would not expect them to "fix" bow, all weapons should be treated the same
so you're telling me elemental weapons would be good actually, if capcom didn't try to neuter them and just unleashed it?
Power shot only animation cancels after a dodge.
What i heard : bow is OP
What i will do : We`re getting bow set guys
Is that they use Dmg Cal from MHXX/MHGU? It seems likely that MHGU doesn't have Ele Mod in each Arrow Types like World/Iceborne.
Hope they fix this, but gives us the deco for bow charge up
Probably not that'd be to good

dont know about this one chief. i do agree about the numbers needing to be what they say it is, if the arrows are ignoring values, thats a bug.
O_o Ragnarok Prontera Theme?! Gah, now i have to fire it up again, thanks -_-
not broken. you are doing the attack DURING the slide.
its not a bug, its a FEATURE !
that pun in the thumbnail tho, damn.......
Complaining about animation cancelling is a bit silly imo, it's not like it's a PvP game, why not just let ppl have fun.
Hopefully bow is replaced with projectile longswords
ur talking about how broken bow is while I’m here struggling to aim properly
Gyroscope
Gyroscope makes it better
Can someone kindly explain how the slide abuse works? I can’t seem to pull it off... I’m trying slide > zr > a (as fast as I can). And can’t seem to get it done right
You dash normal shot and tap A twice you need to have the switch skill charging sidestep not dodgebolt. Dodgebolt ruins the input flow.
@@EzraLeoGomez I see. Thanks kindly friend!
Shouldn't the formula be (20*1.125*30)/100 for the elemental shot at 2:25? Giving +7 damage? (Rounded from 6.75)
Well, I suppose it's tradition at this point that some crazy animation cancel bug exists in a MH game. Also fulfilling tradition of a ranged weapon being stupid unreasonably overpowered.
I hate finding out about this stuff cuz it makes my sense of accomplishment/improvement feel unnearned y'know? 😔 But it's also important to know about so
The animation cancel is cool and should be kept. Nerf the damage not the gameplay at least.
With any type shot bow the animation between normal shot and power shot is basically instant. I love it 😁
As a bow main im offended that they are gonna nerf/fix Bow knowing LS exist
Phem: *complains about the bow*
LS, LBG, HBG: and I took that personally..
Besides, world bow didnt have this and it was also one of, if not the best weapon in the game.
complains about bow and then uses bowguns lmao
Realized this today. I bully HR tetranadon and get 6 to 8 min solos with most weapons but I just did a 3min solo with tobi bow.
Very true.
I like your videos in general, but adding ragnarok online ost takes it to next level sir!
the damage is insane but , based on my experience and my experience only , i found it quite hard to play , you have to play very close to monsters et you are very squishy
Prontera BGM 😳
is that the sound track for ragnarok mobile on your video in the background?
See I dont min/max or anything. So I honestly don't do the whole meta chasing part but even I noticed the rapid power cancel thing. But honestly I don't think it is so broken you should stay away from it. Just don't lean on that aspect so when it's removed you aren't effect too much.
This ragnarok ost though. Prontera
I'll never understand why people cry for nerfs in this game. Oh no! We killed the monster too fast! Get a grip and play solo if you want to take half an hour per run
