No one mentioned ,Ralph Alegria, younger brother of ,Bob Alegria, Tang Soo do Korean Style. Chuck Norris use to come to the Alegria dojo off 6th Street San Pedro California. I took martial arts for year-and-a-half with Ralph Alegria, and Bob Alegria he's a guy that took their place.. They were LAPD police officers... good martial arts instructors I still have forgotten my forms and techniques from way back 1972...

Steve Sanders had real full contact and street fights. Infact he broke a guy so bad in a street fight that the sheriff's who came to the scene asked what type of karate he had used, because he had busted the guys face up really bad and had broken several of the guys ribs as well. Next thing you know he was hired to train the sheriff's. I know this because I was one of his students in Los Angeles by then he has changed last name to Muhammad. He's a legend in the martial arts world.

All true. I've hung out with him a few times and taken lessons at his dojo in Los Angeles which is a ROUGH place, and he's a GREAT person. If someone had some sort of problem with this man, I'm quite sure HE didn't initiate it. Soft spoken and very very kind. He can lay down the law if need be though, and people should make no mistake about it.

@@ahsgrad2151 it’s awful because at the time the Americans were pro among themselves world champions of the USA , which to Americans is the world , there were people in Europe and Japan who would have made him look an utterly inept .
He would have struggled against the likes of Terry O’Neill , Steve Cattle , Bob Poynton , Ticky Donovan in the uk alone . The were not rodeo ponces either . America have zero idea of what was elsewhere in the world in the martial arts scene at that time. The real men of the martial arts world and the real talent weren’t dancing around with porn star moustaches and badge covered pants .

The guy in white fought full contact later and did okay. I don’t know if he had any grappling experience. The nature of the rules made people fight like they were playing tag, but some of those guys were great athletes and made the transition out of Point karate just fine.
