Nice driving. It's almost like you set up the gearing and rev limit for Cadwell, If you put 15s on with 195/50s would you go quicker by avoiding the rev limiter? With 144hp, a 5 speed and a 4.1 mine has too big a gap between gears plus 2nd, 3rd and 4th are too high for where I have to use them and the next gear down is too low. So I haven't got inside 1:50 yet.
I think the gearing felt right for Cadwell tbh, it always felt like we were in the sweet spot on corner exit just about everywhere on track… at other circuits it was quite mismatched, even with 15s! The choice of 13s was predominantly led by tyre availability with a supply of the used 13” tyres at £20 each, we couldn’t say no! Here’s a funny vid of an absolute lemon of a car we had, held the record for lowest power ever 1.8 at Blink Motorsports, still made for good fun and with cheaty tyres it surprised some quicker machinery! ua-cam.com/video/e8hFLhRtgV8/v-deo.htmlsi=suMqjfGon5MIblju
Speedwelltuning cheers mate, certainly part of the plan, though we won’t be stripping the interior to shed a few kg on this one. Short final drive is next and should add a little more pep!
Robert Wilkinson cheers mate, finding another set of tyres as good as these is the biggest challenge!! 😂 From here it will just be a case of small adjustments and improvements to nibble away at the times. We would like to enter the Cadwell rounds of Time Attack next year as a first foray into competitive motorsport, so will be working towards that. 👍
Speedwelltuning great idea!! At Cadwell, this one, at Oulton, the turbo!! 😂 track knowledge being the deciding factor in both! Same driver, same track would be very interesting but I’d expect the turbo to be quicker on anything but the tightest of circuits. Certainly something we should try and film! 👍
Dan Thanks mate, gearing is something we make a priority! It has a 7.5k limit (tacho over reads a touch), with 6 speed box, 4.1 FD and 13” wheels. Feels really good! We will likely move to a 4.3 FD soon for use with 15” wheels. 👍
avner cohen thanks!! It makes 170bhp @ flywheel, helped along by the gearing from the 6 speed and 13” wheels. The engine is a 1.8 vvt from a mk2.5 (nbfl) but we’re not using the vvt. 👍
Cracking effort mate good time that 👍
richard baxter cheers Richard, I was chuffed with it! 🙌
Going very well matt!
OnTheRun cheers Buddy! 🙌
Very nice!
well done, good drive.
great lap!

Great work goes well, perhaps now focus on gaining more lightness?
Speedwelltuning cheers mate, certainly part of the plan, though we won’t be stripping the interior to shed a few kg on this one. Short final drive is next and should add a little more pep!
Good work! What's the next challenge?

Great driving! What wheel/tyre setup you got?
Nyal Humphries cheers Nyal, they’re 13x7 Team Dynamics Pro Race and 180/55/13 Hankook Ventus slicks 👍
@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS thanks for the reply. Are you running 1.6 calipers for wheel clearance?
Nyal Humphries the TDs have enough clearance to use the 1.8 non-sport brakes with et35 or lower 👍
@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS ooh wow, okay.. think I know what my next wheel setup is now 👍 thanks for the info!
Nyal Humphries no prob mate! 👍
Which is quicker, the turbo or itb car? That would be a great video....😉

Check out the slip angles comparisons. Itb supercharged and turbo
Some lap that! Why you wearing jodhpurs?
Internet points for the correct spelling of jodhpurs good sir, but those bad boys are Massimo Dutti’s finest! 😂
@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS in fairness I googled jodhpurs, should of saved yourself a load of cash and gone to farmway 😂. Cracking lap 👍
Great driving! Whats the gearing and rev limmit on this car? Never seemed to drop below 6k which really suits the mx5s power band!

spring rate?
avner cohen 10/6 kg/mm on a Meister R Zeta coilover 👍

Thanks. How much power on dyno ?
It seems very fast for original engine with throttle bodies . PS Amazing driving
