Spot on about the power thing. I did a trackday at Nurburgring with club 1000 in a 1.0 micra trying to go sub 10. Brilliant day! You were there in the M3 I think! We were looked down on for leaving the proper track toys at home but fuck them, we enjoyed it! 👌
Hey Danny.🖐 Well, this is what we've all been waiting for, so "Let's get to it." All floggin', no vloggin'. The car looks great and nice to hear everything is pretty much working as planned on the first outing.👍 The MR2 looks like a blast, mate... really excited to see you compete in the series. I enjoyed all the onboard sights and sounds. Honorable mention goes out to Kev on that big oh-shit moment... nice edit, btw.😅 I read over the description and wanted to send you some good mojo, hoping you find that missing camera/footage especially since you've put so much effort into documenting this whole process. Top video as always, my friend.👌 Cheers!
You're so right Dan, power stands for shit without balance and poise. It's the reason why we love Karting. Lightweight motoring within a balanced chassis is pure drivers fun. Same reason why a gtr has never made me feel the fizz.
Looking good on a wet cadwell mate . I have joined the 750 motor club race series to this year . Looking forward to finally getting back in track myself been a while resurrecting the old mg zs. Cadwell a great circuit and lucky to live on the door step. Great videos 👍
Hey Danny, please consider using a HANS device when wearing a harness and helmet, it seems counter intuitive but the combination of the two can actually increase the chance of a neck injury because the added weight of the helmet along with no give in the harness puts all the force on your neck in an accident. If you wear a helmet without HANS it's actually safer to use the standard seatbelt as it distributes the energy and your body can take some of the force in an accident, or alternatively you can wear the harness without helmet but obviously that has some disadvantages in terms of head protection and can still hurt the neck. Love seeing videos like these and the safer we can all be the more we can have in the future!
Hardly ever comment, but you had me confused for a min there with the red car lol. Looks like it's going well for its first shake down, obviously the attention to detail and prep counts for that 😉 Love the fact that most people on wet track days are nervous and on edge if the backend steps out, whereas you take the opportunity when breaks free to enjoy the corner and give it some beans and drift it 👍😎 Looking forward to some racing coverage, good luck with that mate, I'm sure you'll do well.
Great video. I also find the MR2 mk3 pretty docile in the wet. Only issue is the front end aquaplaning more readily on standing water given how light it is up front. As you say the UK spec features a cracking Torsen LSD that really helps in these conditions.
Thanks for uploads as ever Dan. Going to see an MR2 on Monday so might get one for a bit of track fun. Can I ask what suspension you're running please?
Red cars go faster as proven by ddc2 in the mr2 😆 nice to know you like the std lsd. I was wondering how good it is. Did you change anything with the shifter mechanism or is that std 5 sp?
Great video as always Danny. Would you have any advice how to get into and get decent at track racing? Currently have e36 2.8 and closest track is three sisters.
I am curious about the rpm range you are using, do you go above 6300rpm? I've watched your videos, you could not find you modifying the oil pick to solve oil starvation, did I missed it ?
Had good fun there on dry but wet looks like suicide 😂 I thought you had to go into pits if you go off track even for a little bit? But good fun, cars seems fun
I was faster than a Supercharged FN2 in my N/A FN2. Taken 350Z on track, Boxster, and a MR2 roadster. MR2 was most fun one. Such a great chassis. Even took a 07 Jetta round cadwell which was great fun
There is much to be said a car that doesn't have all the horsepowers. Also good to see the heater thing works, it looked about as useful as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest, just goes to show.
Fair play going out on the R888's, ive got AR1's and they are shocking in the wet. Crazy you can't use seperate wets for racing. Rainsport 5s would have been ideal on spare wheels.
@@kevtalbot137 I really struggle on them in my mr2 2zz, even when damp I just couldn't get any power down. Went with the RS5 for wet conditions and they've been great. Held up really well at Oulton in storm Dennis.
@Jethro Hull yeah was well impressed with the AD08R's on my old Clio 182, shame they replaced them with the RS variant. Agreed on the Rainsports only being good in very wet conditions, they're terrible in the dry. I throw them in the van just incase of a downpour.
Have I missed summet? Funny looking black that fucker 🤣 Standard engine sounds orate though, pretty grunty! Was that DC5 mishap a Virtua Fighter sample? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haters will hate... but a stock MR2 Roadster is still a sub 9 minute nurburgring car (full, not btg). Also its faster than the Honda Civic EK9 Type R on track: ua-cam.com/video/0qlVs1uoNX0/v-deo.html #CaseClosed

@@dannyDC2 Get your @rse over here to Mondello some day, cracking track. I'm one of the motorbike track instructors there, but I've been known to take the odd car or two around there every now and again too. I think I've got video up somewhere of me thrashing my little 205 1.9GTi around the place, but fun at it was for a while, with little more than 120bhp...... it got fairly tiresome after a while (it's much, much happier being thrashed on a country road than a track!).

Beautifully driven on the wet track, that's how you get to know the car best.
Props man, your build is sweet as a nut. All the best
Loved this, And the thoughts and comments. Good cars are just 'fast' ones. Great drive is a lot more than just power. Car looks great in red BTW 😎 👍🏻
Hahaha the "Nani ?" when the DC5 oversteers made me LMFHO, great one !
Nicely driven, congratulations on 50k too. Good shit!
Good to see you driving again chap!

so happy to see you out on track again man. DDC2 FTW!

All the room for hand activities with that wheel !

Looks good Danny!!
You seem to have the MR2 set up quite progressively.
it's fun when you see a fwd car having more snap oversteer than a mr2 😂
looks like it runs well sounds great .
Spot on as always DMR2. No hate on the mk2, everyone in the community knows the girly mk3 handles better ✌️
Well chuffed for you mate! 👍🏼
Great driving! Also red looks great. need to paint my track car.
Great onboard action 👍
Carnt wait for the dc2 go hit track again, good session in the mr2
Nice video Danny! Mr-s looks good in red!
As a road tire do you find the AD08r to be good enough in the wet? Seem to stick well in such a light car!
did you know the lsd from the mk3 also fits the NA mk2. but suppose that doesn't count for a race series where it has to be stock
Caddy is my local track. A few miles up the road. Never done a track day there, last time I went was a few years back for the Superbikes.

Looks good all in one colour and red is a good choice
Brilliant content... Certainly got balls as a driver. I cant even push my MR2 like that in the dry.
Did I hear a Fist of the North Star reference? When the car was sliding towards the grass? Lol
Must admit I'd love to see Danny in a K20 turbo'd one of these
regulations wont allow to change tire size? for a 225 or 245 rear? does it have lsd? brake size is stock?
no, yes, yes
Whats done to that dc5, pulls well
Red very good
Yo my 6 speed probably went around Cadwell Park. Also a 1ZZ Spyder is surprisingly quick.
Needs a Mick’s garage Banner on the back window
So when did the car become red??
Not going to remove passenger airbag & centre cubby bit? Every little helps with weight
already done
DannyDC2 don’t forget the spec bowel movement fluid delete
Hang on since when was the car red?
Looks like a blast even in that weather, too feart to track my GT86 (daily), a cheap MR2 might be on the cards

Brave man in that kind of weather, also why is the car red now?...it was blue, I will have to check your older vids.
yes it was blue
Sorry if you've said this before, but what's the wheel and boss kit?
Momo 290mm, no idea what boss. Ebay probably
