    Why cm4376 discontinued @hioki site?
    Top amp clamp 4375

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  8 місяців тому +1

      I appreciate your question. If you watched the video I mentioned beginning at 08:11 that the newer version is the Hioki CM4375-50, which I don't have. In fact, I recommened the 4375 if you want the newer version. They have a lot of similarities. I think one of the reasons they discontinued the 4376 is that Hioki wanted to give their customers more options of owning a similar, upgraded clamp meter, as the 4375 is offered with or without the wireless Z3210 adapter and the optional high voltage probe. The Z3210, which enables not just Bluetooth but also direct to MS Excel, cannot be used with the 4376. The 4376 has builtin Bluetooth adapter for the Gennect Cross App, but can't do direct to Excel. On the other hand, the 4375, without the Z3210, can't do Gennect Cross and the Excel wireless communication. I'm sure there are other reasons but these are the ones at the top of my head. Good luck!

    @ramschannel reviews Please can you write here what minimun ac and dc current can it measure?

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  9 днів тому

      As far as I observed on my CM4376, it's 1 Amp AC/DC actual current. Even the newer model, the CM4375, lists only 1A minimum in its accuracy table. The upside is 1000 A.

    1:06 What was the waveform for the Car Battery Starting Testing? The inrush current waveform.

    • @ramschannelreviews

      I didn't set the Gennect Cross app at that time so no inrush trend was graphed. I'll try next time.

    Hi, thanks for your detailed review. Do you know if the 4375-50 can measure below 1A and can it show the individual harmonics order with the wireless adapter. Thanks.

      Thanks for your appreciation. I'll get back to you on this. Since the 4375-50 is the newest version for the 4376 and 4375, it would be great if the 4375-50 can indeed test and display those information.

      @@lemech I requested Hioki Singapore for information in this regard. Here are their answers. Yes, CM4375-50 is capable to measure below 1 A. However, please note that the Guaranteed accuracy range is from 1A to 999.9A. Can it show the individual harmonic order with the wireless adapter?
      Yes, you need to install Wireless Adapter Z3210 and connect with GENNECT Cross to enable Harmonic analysis for troubleshooting.

    Do you know if it can read Hz through the clamp at the output of an Inverter / VFD? Or this function only works without the typical noise inherent to these applications, just with 50 or 60 hz line frequency.

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  7 місяців тому

      I haven't tested it yet on the output of a VFD but it can display both current and frequency at its LCD screen. May I suggest that you also download the test (calibration) results and users manual for detailed specs here. It included a test at 1000Hz, 200A.
      www.hioki.com/sg-en/products/clamp-meters/ac-dc-clamp/id_451384
      From what I can gather, it is capable of accurate current testing while filtering out noise (with filter on) from a known 50Hz/60Hz/100Hz power supply. However, it seems it can also correctly measure current from actual power frequency above 100Hz (with filter off) in aircraft or ship, but you have to apply a derating factor as frequency increases (page 69 of manual). For instance, it can accurately measure a maximum of 200A only at 1000Hz. I'll try and reach out to Hioki to see if they can shed more light on this.

      I appreciate your response. And your review!
      According to Hioki (they answered on one of their own yt videos) it can’t. They say it would require high current, 40 amps or so, to avoid the noise.
      But somehow, the F brand -in some very specific models lke 375/6/7/8- can read from 10 Hz at an inverter output, with as low as 5 amps. I believe Hioki is not using the low pass filter on the Amps reading or are very conservative about their error specs.
      It is a real pity because this clamp and the bluetooth capability seems more complete and competent . And also the F(….) connect app is a shame.

      @ramschannelreviews  7 місяців тому

      @@Sentido-Critico I didn't know that. Thanks for your insights. It'd be interesting to test it on the output of a VFD at various inverter frequencies. Fluke Connect is not available in my market region but the Hioki Gennect Cross app and direct to Excel functionality worked very well.

    Hello is this clamp meter able to record data (current) over a period of time, and then export the data to an excel spreadsheet with current values and timestamps? Is there a wired option to interface with a computer?

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment. Yes. You can wirelessly log and save monitoring data using the Hioki Gennect Cross Bluetooth App, a free download for Android and iOS. Connect with your phone and export the data (share to email, messenger, FB, etc.) as a .csv file, which you can then open with Excel. Fastest monitoring interval is 1 second for one channel (either current or voltage only); 5 seconds for DC power. Both DC voltage and DC current can be monitored simultaneously. Longest monitoring duration: 24 hours. I tested this in a 2-minute sample monitoring. It worked. The app was stable and the file can be exported as .csv or be made into a .pdf file direct from the app.
      My unit, CM4376, has built-in Bluetooth adapter. The newer version, CM4375-50, which I don't have, has an optional BT adapter and has the ability to export data direct to Excel with the adapter. Hioki calls this the Human Interface Device functionality (HID). You would need the optional Z3210 BT adapter for the newer version to use the Gennect Cross app and HID functions.
      There is no wired monitoring option, as far as I know.

    5:37 What is the bandwidth and the sample rate of the oscilloscope on the app? Is it on the meter and app graphs, or, does the app do metering too?

    • @ramschannelreviews
      @ramschannelreviews  Рік тому +3

      As far as I know, (1) the simple oscilloscope can definitely display waves of 50/60Hz power frequencies in the Waveform/FFT function. But I have no signal generator so I can't say if it can display waveforms of other frequency signals, as well. In the harmonics analysis function (if the instrument is capable of it) bandwidth is strictly limited to 50/60Hz and the Gennect Cross app can tabulate harmonics order up to the 30th. The app's fastest screen refresh rate seem to be 1 per second. The instrument has its own refresh rate. (2) I think both the instrument and the app do calculations. The app, however, greatly extends functionality and shows more information due to the screen real estate of smart phones/tablets, which is impossible for the tiny screen of the instrument to show.

    Hi 1 more quick question if I may. If you connect the AC voltage and current probe at the same time, can you see both the AC voltage and current waveforms together? Or you can only see 1 waveform at a time by switching selector switch to AC V or A. Thanks.

    • @ramschannelreviews

      Sure. The Gennect Cross app becomes a simple oscilloscope for either voltage or current. One at a time only.
