  • Hello sewists!
Welcome to the second part of sewing an Italian holiday wardrobe, where things don't quite go to plan! In this vlog we're sewing M8282 and I show you how to hack the back of a dress to have a comfy and cute shirred panel.
I also reveal the finished dress from the last vlog M8252!

Both dresses came out beautifully but my favorite is the red one.

Hello! My daughter is getting married in July, and we got my wedding dress out of its sealed up box for her to wear to her bridal shower. We removed all the lace and ruffles from the train and around the bottom, then cut it off and put the lace and ruffles back on. We had to make a few alterations to the fit, and then it was ready. She looked stunning in it! People kept messaging her to ask where she got her outfit after she posted pics. It was really special for both of us. I'm excited to see what you do with yours ❤

I am going to watch and rewatch this video before I start. I live just outside of Atlanta Georgia USA...I follow several SEVERAL sewing channels so your location has escaped my memory but I was blown away when I saw your makes.
    I screamed in joy
    YAY

Both dresses looked great on you, especially with such a stunning backdrop.
I'm so glad the elastic back worked out for the pink and red dress. And it'll be ready to go when the weather eventually warms up here.
Wow, what an incredible project you have coming up with the vintage wedding dress alteration/refashion! What an honour to get to work with and wear such a special heirloom.

Thank you so much for that tip for the elastic! It made it so much more comfortable and actually I think it looks more streamlined with the bodice too.
The vintage wedding dress is incredible, I'm so excited to show you!

So sorry to hear you're a migraine sufferer 😢 you have my sympathy, they are ghastly!
The shirring worked brilliantly on the white dress, I love the idea of putting a regular elastic casing at the top, that's genius! 👌
As for Sorrento, we were there last October and it's an absolutely gorgeous town, and the views over the Bay of Naples are magic! 😍 Did you go to Capri? You really must. It's a dream...
I love your dresses, as always. You'll look like a princess on your wedding day, for sure. Meanwhile, I wish you good health and happy sewing! 😊

Migraines are the worst aren't they?! I haven't had one for years and all of a sudden had several big ones 😫 I think it could be wedding stress!
It's such a magical place isn't it? I cannot wait to go back. Our trip was brief so we didn't manage to do any of the boat trips but Capri and Positano are on our list for when we go back for the wedding 🥰 thank you so much ❤

Thank you for doing a sew along for the rushed dress. I have the same pattern, and this will come in handy when I am ready to sew it up. Your white fabric with embroidery is gorgeous and the end result is beautiful!

Beautiful vlog and look forward to seeing all your dresses. For years I had an entry level machine that stirred like a dream, then a few years ago I upgraded to a Brother F420…. it hates shirring! I thought it was me but after lots of internet and UA-cam searching found it’s not me, it seems to be something to do with the way the bobbin is inserted which makes it temperamental x

Love your sewalong..I was thinking the white dress if you stitched in between the girls vertical gather pulling it down in the middle so it doesn't go straight across....I don't think I'm explaining well enough...lovely video

I’m measuring up for the M8282 and my measurements are lining up with the 14, 16 and 18…all over the place. I’m reliably a dress size 12 and smaller at the top where this dress is fitted. You said you went for the 12 and would do the 10 next time and I think I’m probably a similar size to you. I’m very confused 🤣 any advice?

Could you tell me where you got the dress ring from?

I absolutely love both your dresses! After seeing the part one I fell in love with this cut out dress and ordered the pattern, but I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of ring and what size did you use? I can't find any information about it in the pattern and I'm confused 🥲

Thank you so much! Sorry I forgot to mention this, I believe mine are 7cm rings. I found them off Etsy ages ago but a few people I know who have made the pattern suggested using ring binder rings so they open and close. Which sounds soo much easier!! I'll try to find some links ❤

@@ginaseams thank you!! I've found some options locally, just really wasn't sure what size to go for and yours looks perfect so I'll get 7 cm too 😊
