Great job on the armor. I made mine front and rear out of 11 gauge and bolted 'em on. I have a tip for getting that contour for guys that don't have the quarter panels cut off their rig. I took a 1"X2" landscaping stake, set it on the ground, and placed the armor over it. I then simply stepped on the edges and used my body weight to gently hop and work a curve into it. I weigh 190 and it took like 1-2 minutes per panel to get a matching contour.
Your video style may have changed a little, but your content sure hasn't! Clearly you have a love for this style of fabrication and its cool you have a platform that allows you to do it for a living.
i just started following after watching alot of your vids about the junkyard tips and i got my bag ready drove to the junk yard and pulled up on a jeep commanche complete lol started pulling emblems seats and anything else to make a buck or two, he makes some awesome stuff love bleepin jeep keep up the great work
Great videos. Im working two jobs and saving money to build a Jeep XJ. Im going to use it for overlanding and also to live out of it for a year or two. I have a CVT roof tent, ARB roof rack, dual yellow tops, Goal Zero Yeti solar generator ARB fridge, ARB awning with enclosure on my shopping list. Many other parts on the list like air lockers and suspension and what not. Mainly want to make it self sufficient and livable first though. Keep up the good work.
i always get excited when i see a new bleepin jeep vid. i love all the vids but id be lying if i didnt admit that i just really wanna see progress on the Scorpion Crawler
+Logan Lovell you should follow the FB page and the instagram... lots of more up to date photos and stuff gets posted there. plus a build thread on pirate and naxja. links for those are in the description
"Until next time folks from everyone here at Bleepin Jeep, keep them wheels turnin and plasmas burnin" You could make that a good exit phrase, seems to fit well with what everyone at Bleepin Jeep does.
When you get to where you want to armor the tires and wheels; consider these two ideas. First, a disk shapes plate that is held on by extended lug nuts, much like dual tire rims. In fact this disk must be slightly smaller in diameter than the tire. But would be great between a set of duals. The other idea is to suspend plates linked by a screen of chain links. But foam filled tires remain the best bet for stealthiness.
To armor the radiator and front a metal box containing a pair of 2 1/2" angle iron sections 2" apart and off set 1/4" in height where the reversed angles are deflected and then caught by the reversed, cuppingsection(use large and thivker angle iron if heavier weapons are expected)
Hey Matt you should come down to California in March to the jeep safari Run TDS it's in the first week of March. you are very famous down here keep up the good work👍
i have to say i really do enjoy your channel, i have the same welder.. you should try to find a spool gun that was made to go with it.. it will really open up so much more cause you can weld aluminum... i found a used on on ebay for 150 bucks
You will have to weight it when its all said and done. Compare it to a bone stock Jeep to see how much it gained with all the modifications. Im betting it will pick up some significant weight with all the frame, suspension, axles, body armor, and cage. Not that its a bad thing, weight can mean traction. But it would be interesting to see the difference and maybe its distribution front to back and side to side.
For my xj. Was actually thinking of using pieces off another. If someone could chip on that, just bought a 🏠 and the budget is almost non existent. Just want to keep the thing together. Stop it from falling apart. In Nova Scotia there really is no getting another one.
Is there a way to assemble armor without Welding against the vehicle? Or, is there a way to assemble it against the vehicle without messing up the paint in the process?
yeah, Matt has his projects on his main UA-cam page. there's a playlist for the zombie jeep, hope floats and this...and I assume/hope a playlist for project tetanus will be coming soon
+Brandon Miller his main UA-cam page. when you search bleepinjeep and click on his logo, that should bring you to his main (or home) UA-cam page. and there all of his videos are categorized and you should be able to find the scorpion crawler build
another great video. but you should really get your wife (or whoever that was helping you) a hood or some goggles to wear instead of just closing her eyes. You can still get some nasty flashburn with your eyes closed. personal experience lol
1/8 Inch is 2,8mm....that is maybe level2-3A IF IT IS AR500 steel...now is it? Even though IIIA ist said with the benefit of the doubt. Go Look it up. No rifle round. 357 if you are lucky. .223 FMJ punches through 1/3 Inch mild steel like nothing

BleepinJeep what type of steal are you using mild steal at that thickness isnt going to stop any rounds

i realize it's kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good website to stream newly released series online?
@Jairo Jake Lately I have been using FlixZone. Just search on google for it =)
@Titus Gage yea, have been watching on FlixZone for since march myself :)
@Titus Gage Thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :) Appreciate it!!
@Jairo Jake no problem xD

good videos. you should do an in depth enigene rebuild on a straight 6 or 4. I have an 84 xj and the enigene needs one. but great videos!

im so excited to see this thing when youre done. your videos have helped me a lot, thanks for the quality content
Great job I want to do something like that on my Comanche. 1/8 I front of the body panel wouldn't be too bad.

Matt needs a set of Cleco's!
you got mad skills brah
would be sweet if you took this project to moab some day!

Dude great vid. I'm doing this for my ZJ
Is there an approximate date for when this will be finished?
Was hoping in the spring but probably not... Who knows
Inject expanding foam into any gaps between the armor and the original skin. It is amazing the structural rigidity that foam adds.
+halnywiatr hmmm
Some of the cheap ones retain moisture, but marine or fire rated should be closed cell and moisture resistant.
Don't weld on it though shit gets real haha
I think I'm going to do this to the entire body of my 1982 F250 lmao. Fuel mileage was already shit so I doubt it'll be much worse with extra weight.
hay there my Jeep Cherokee is about to tern 400k miles eny thing I should be considered for. works grate. just wondering.
For my xj. Was actually thinking of using pieces off another. If someone could chip on that, just bought a 🏠 and the budget is almost non existent. Just want to keep the thing together. Stop it from falling apart. In Nova Scotia there really is no getting another one.
What welder are you using? I can tell it's a MIG but what brand and power? Thanks!
What are your plans with getting fuel into the jeep? Seeing as you covered the gas filling area with the steel.
+Blake Danchik I'll be making a custom triangular fuel cell and putting it in the back
Is there a way to assemble armor without Welding against the vehicle? Or, is there a way to assemble it against the vehicle without messing up the paint in the process?
Micah Bachert make cardboard templates, use an angle finder to map all of your bends and angles. Then you can recreate the angles on a bench
just curious, why go to all this work adding that metal, if its going to be a beat up off roader? why protect the original body? Just wondering...
Who says it needs to look ugly to be an Offroad vehicle? If I add armor , it won't get beat up.
true... yeah.. very true
Where did you get the steel?
Nice job ! Where do you get all your steel stock ?
Specialty metals in Knoxville
+BleepinJeep you're located in Knoxville Tennessee?
Dude water is gonna get under that plate steel and rot the quarter panel out from the inside.
tis what happened with old toyotas
Cant you just use a good sealant around it?
Joshua Silva Why yes. Yes you could.
Exactly but no one bothers to use their head. Bed liner >:)
Did I notice the paint on your floor is peeling?
Looks like mine.
+SlackerJon yes, it is anywhere I use a jack... I need to make an update on that
What size wire do you use when mig welding?
+TheJdelos was using .035 for a long time then switched to .030 when that ran out.
You're doing a fuel cell, correct?
+XJ Colorado yep, I'll need to make a custom triangular fuel cell
+BleepinJeep awesome, looking forward to it! Keep the great videos coming!
what brand plasma cutter do you have?
+Alex Ottomano Hypertherm powermax 45
+BleepinJeep thanks
do u have an playlist of this build.
yeah, Matt has his projects on his main UA-cam page. there's a playlist for the zombie jeep, hope floats and this...and I assume/hope a playlist for project tetanus will be coming soon

+Brandon Miller his main UA-cam page. when you search bleepinjeep and click on his logo, that should bring you to his main (or home) UA-cam page. and there all of his videos are categorized and you should be able to find the scorpion crawler build
+Tom D yes, there are project playlists for all of those
+Tom D ua-cam.com/users/bleepinjeepplaylists
what type of steal is being used mild steal is not going to do shit especially at the thickness your using
You the man. Lol. 👌🏻
1/8 inch won't stop much
I assume it's to protect it while off-roading, not from bullets.
i think its a shame to cut apart what looks to be a rust free jeep to do this. up here in mn there arent any.
another great video. but you should really get your wife (or whoever that was helping you) a hood or some goggles to wear instead of just closing her eyes. You can still get some nasty flashburn with your eyes closed. personal experience lol
ARENT you cheep jeep?
Crap. Whats that armour against? .22? That will hardlyzstop a 357 mag, let alone rifle or slug...
Are you being serious?? 🥴
And WE are not even talking armorpiercing rounds here...
