I have never heard of New York being called "Nieuw Oranje". As far as i know it was called "Nieuw Amsterdam", with the entire dutch colony there being called "Nieuw Nederland"
Just like Willem van Oranje Nassau having German roods, not French

New York was a Dutch colony originally called new Amsterdam captured by the English during a war and renamed to new york. During the third Anglo Dutch war, the Dutch recaptured the city and named it New Orange but at the end of the war it was given back to the English.
Andrei Paraschiv i thought new amsterdam was strategically traded for surinam. As the english where too prominant in the new york area anyway, trading it for surinam was a fair deal.

The orange carrots are vitamin deficient when compared to the purple and other colors. We find purple carrots at our local farmer's markets. Yummy.

By selective breeding. You only let the most orange carrots reproduce, and then repeat that again and again until they're all orange. Basically natural selection, only... well, not natural.
Vice Gaming well how’d they get carrots orange in the first place. They’re not naturally orange so how’d they let “the most orange” ??
@@MysticalTy Because they naturally have variations in colour, plus you can crossbreed light with dark ones to get something inbetween. Even if you start with one that's only slightly more towards the orange spectrum, that's still progress, and you can repeat that however many times it takes.

2:12 I just think it's pretty important to note that while France certainly had large numbers of protestant huguenots and Calvinists, France was most definitely a Catholic state. The conflict in Europe in this time centred more so on Habsburgs Vs anti-habsburgs than on religion hence why the French and British were rare allies in this case :)
