But if i had to judge off pure style, it would of been the Nike ones. Seeing that Nike check in the bottom back right of the jersey was super clean. Nike on the helmets, Nike also had a really dope easton ultralite ripoff but it was more of a rounded grip sort of, they had some pretty cool stuff in the late 90s early 2000s. Koho idk what happend with them, they had legit jerseys tho.
I walked into a fanatics corporate office once and it was the most cold soulless inside of any building office/I’ve ever witnessed. That was my random initial reaction, first impression of “Fanatics” and is my only experience with them😂 I was inside for about 2 minutes
So here’s the thing. Even if Fanatics uses the same factory and even manages to keep the quality high for the actual player jerseys, (a) the NHL comes out looking like they couldn’t get a respectable company to work with them so they had to settle for a company that makes gift shop merch, which is kind of embarrassing. And (b) fans generally don’t like the fanatics merch, so it’s kind of a slap in the face to say “hey,we know you guys keep coming back no matter how often we disappoint you, so we listened and we heard you hate Fanatics so we’re keeping them for 10 more years because f you that’s why.”
Yeah I’m honestly just interest how good these jerseys will be, hopefully fanatics can prove that they aren’t just a cheap knockoff brand with this. Well they still will be, but hopefully they can prove that they can do better
I knew the nhl was terribly ran when John Scott got voted into the all star game, which was the greatest moment in any all star game in quite some time, and the NHL took moves to make sure nothing like that ever happens again.
Don't forget they tried to bully John Scott that year into NOT going to the game by asking him if he'd be embarrassing his kids by playing. Bringing his family into it. And it seems to be 'accepted fact' that they orchestrated a trade and demote him to make him ineligible. ....And then they tried to join in on the celebration after the fact with how awesome it was when it turned out to be fun.
It took me years to piece together why some teams, before the cap restructures, that had the most money, always seemed to fail, to make the worst prospect and trade decisions, that had the most hostile sports journos for the most promising juniors and rookies. It all made sense when you accepted the game was rigged from the start.
I remember ordering an Avalanche jersey and some of the details in the snow were missing! They can't even bother to take the time to get the right logo.

I was in an Adidas outlet store in Vancouver yesterday. It sometimes has a few hockey items but this time there were racks and racks of NHL jerseys from all over the league at 50% off. I am pretty sure Adidas just wants to get it over with, they want out as it hasn’t made them a lot of money.

I don't understand why you wouldn't want to wear the same jersey as an on-ice jersey. My mom has a Leaf jersey from the Sundin era and it was an on-ice jersey. Tie Domi got it for her as it was one of Mats Sundin's jerseys he would have worn if his current one was damaged or something - they have spares. She got it signed by Pat Quinn, Sundin, Domi, Cujo. and a few other Leafs. That Jersey has held up remarkably - impeccable quality. She is a massive fan. I can't see mom being happy with the Fanatics garbage.

No way are they better. I ordered a Carey Price jersey from Amazon that was make in China. It is horrible. They used glue for the numbers and emblem instead of being sewn on. Yes the price slot cheaper, but so was the product.

The only plus I can even fathom about this decade long deal is the way it could potentially bring a lot of interest in the second hand market for older jerseys. For collectors like me, it could make selling jerseys much MUCH easier, as there could be more buyers than there would be otherwise. I guess only time will tell.

Same I think there's a cautious upside in terms of "hey we're counting on you, don't fuck it up" and they HAVE to bring it, but then the downside is the historical sample size trend we can objectively look at. Who know, maybe this will be a "buy extremely low" sort of decision that really pays off
I have a jersey and two hoodies from Fanatics, and have no problems. They're nice, enduring many times wearing them and many wash cycles. I don't know, maybe I'm just lucky because it's a small sample size.

I said to to her that I have an official Winnipeg Jets home Jersey and a Jets Fanatics Away jersey, and I've said the issue I have with the away jersey with the Captain's 'C' falling off (I had to glue it back on), and how its all lint-y because I had to wash it when my dog decided it was a good idea to use the bathroom on it lol Now I'll be more than willing to give Fanatics a chance to really prove they got what it takes but I'm honestly not gonna hold my breath, their shenanigans when it comes to customer support has been ongoing for many years, and I don't see them turning that around in a snap of a finger..

Some of Mitchell and Ness’s products were actually made almost exactly like the stuff they used to make back in the day. It was kind of pricey, but it reflected in how authentic they made their products.

The last two jerseys i got were Colorado Avalanche Peter Forsberg's Home 1996 by CCM, and the COLORADO one by REEBOK. Good ole days! You can feel the difference in material and heaviness in the jersey. I didn't care for the feel of the newer ones....
when lou nanne took the minnesota north stars off network tv and put it on a dish service that we couldnt afford, the nhl was replaced by simply going to the rink. if the nhl has lost market share, its because the average home cant spend the extra 50 to 70 per months for the nhl package. or the $200 for a two person night out for one mn wild game.

Not a big sweater guy, but I do enjoy collecting caps. While fanatics lids aren't the pinnacle of swag it would be nice to have mlb type options for fitted caps. Fingers crossed.
New era hats are great. I went to Madison square garden and they had some rangers and knicks new era hats. I bought 2 rangers and 1 knicks hat. Honestly i likely would have bought a few spares of these hats due to knowing the quality of most of the hats sold online.
I've been wanting to add some NHL hats to my collection. When I buy them, I usually just go straight to eBay, like when I wanted a Kings hat with the shield logo.
I specifically remember buying an Avalanche Lake Tahoe sweatshirt with the old Nordiques logo on it from Fanatics. The printing just became so worn after maybe one or two washes, so disappointing. This is a terrible change for the league, especially when hockey merch is just too cool to be not great quality.
The people that are upset about Fanatics becoming the supplier of NHL jerseys are so because they know they are about to get F****d for 10 years. Fanatics is very low quality and over priced. Anyone that is a jersey collector understands this. It’s fact and it sucks.

Usually firms pick suppliers for a few reasons, including cost savings, some sort of personal relationship between the vendor and buyer, or because the way the buyer values the goods or services is actually different than the way the rest of the world sees it. My guess its all three here: Fanatics provided a cheap quote, the NHL and Fanatics executives built some sort of relationship, and maybe the NHL doesn't view fan merchandise as its big bread winner, compared to future TV or other revenues.
Terrible decision!! As fans we should all agree no more jerseys bought for that 2 years and then see what the NHL says. Literally anything would have been better than this
We can only hope that one good thing might come out of this, maybe fanatics will at least give us some alternate hat/shirt/accessories designs for fan merch. I've long been disappointed by the selection for nhl when NFL, NBA, and MLB all have a ton of different designs and color schemes
The only Fanatics jerseys I have were DEEP discounts for players traded or let go. I'm talking $25 for a jersey. I can't imagine paying a full $170 for a Fanatics jersey, especially when the Reebok ones cost the same but were infinitely better quality. This is shameful.
I have well-used t-shirts and sweat shirts from 25-30 years ago that still have clear logos and nice cuffs. I wonder if part of the problem, besides greed, is the enviro laws restricting what kind printing materials they can use, ie. water-based replacing solvent-based. I know wood furniture makers are being forced to use inferior water-based finishes in some places.
i understand why the nhl did it. theyre a business out to make money. and personally i dont want to fork over 200 bucks to get an authentic jersey to wear. Ive always just borrowed my dads jersey due to that. making jerseys more affordable for everyone might help grow the NHL through free advertising. In the end though they cant make any money without people purchasing the jerseys in the first place. So if the quality is as bad as they say it is its gunna need some work, or just offer the levels of quality up to player quality so fans can pick and choose. But that would just come with more overhead when it comes to inventory so id doubt they make that move. Boo on Adidas for giving the cold shoulder to the NHL.
Just remember this is a move to save more money and provide us with even cheaper, poorer quality items, while raising the price. I'd rather buy a $500d high quality jersey that will last a life-time, than a low quality $150 jersey every 2-3 years.
Contrary to popular belief, the players don't make money for the NHL, the players do. The players come to games, watch them on TV, and buy logoed stuff even when the team is in the dumps. Chicago still has fans coming, and still has fans buying their logoed merch. Bettman has been abusing fans all season. The ads on the players, the virtual ads all over the boards and ice, now a deal that promises no decrease in the quality of on ice jerseys, but no mention of the quality of fan jerseys. I have no idea who would replace him, but I the Bettman era has come to an end.
NHL licensing has been fleecing fans for years with replica sweaters. It seems like this decision will give enough fans pause to really think about what they are getting for their money ...
What makes the NHL look awful is their continued adherence to the "Hockey is for Everyone" mantra. Divisive and shortsighted. That mantra will see the NHL go the way of the NBA and NFL with a drop in ratings especially in the American market. Heck, the NBA ratings were dominated by women's college basketball. Bettman is out of touch and so are the owners, management, and most of the players. And the NHL is banking on Turner Sports to bring up their viewership? Good luck with that. That network spends more time promoting the WNBA which draws less than 1,000 fans to games than the NHL. The NHL is no longer in the Top 4 pro sports in North America. They have bee usurped by MMA and are quickly going downhill. For the NHL, Fanatics is the least of their worries. Thank you, Gary Bettman. You're doing an awesome job. Not.

I love collecting hockey jerseys.I have had 2 bad fanatics experiences.I think they should have done a 3-5 year deal almost like a test run.If they liked what fanatics has done they can renew it if not look for a new jersey provider.Even though I don’t hate fanatics I still don’t like the contract.
I'll go ahead and comment, as some who has collected jerseys seriously in the past 3 or so years now, yeah this move dissapoints me, I've liked pretty much all the brands the NHL has had make jerseys up until Fanatics. I have 2 fanatics jerseys in my collection because I got them early on and the Adidas jerseys didn't have many names at the time compared to Fanatics (and named adidas jerseys were also really expensive in general) and probably my biggest regret was buying them at full price, after having so many replica and authentic from the other brands, Fanatics really does have big shoes to fill and probably the only way I would get them is if they make on ice jerseys for sale again for retail like CCM and Reebok used to do. I'm not holding my breath that they will but it would be a step in the right direction.
No way i am buying anything fanatics. In the past, mid to high level cost point merchandise i have purchased has shrunk and literally fallen apart in 2-3 washes. Its been relegated to sleeping attire because i would not dare wear it out in public anymore. This is bad.
Here in Canada you can find the fanatics jerseys at most SVP stores for around 19.99 to 39.99. Tbh, never had any issues with mine. I still think this is the wrong way to go but considering Adidas did not want to continue what were the other options.

No way are they better. I ordered a Carey Price jersey from Amazon that was make in China. It is horrible. They used glue for the numbers and emblem instead of being sewn on. Yes the price slot cheaper, but so was the product.
@@mafmaf6417 guess results vary. 10 yrs ago, I wore a $50 leaf jersey with gilmour 93 on the back, ordered from a chinese website, to a leafs game. fighting strap and patches included. merch store guy at the arena pulled me aside and asked where i got it. said he can't even get one like that.

CCM still makes all the AHL jerseys and a majority of the junior teams. I really wish they had gotten the NHL back instead of Fanatics.

The NHL had so many superior options in front of them. Nike, Reebok, CCM, and Under Amour. Yet they chose Fanatics. Such a wasted opportunity by the NHL.

The only plus I can even fathom about this decade long deal is the way it could potentially bring a lot of interest in the second hand market for older jerseys. For collectors like me, it could make selling jerseys much MUCH easier, as there could be more buyers than there would be otherwise. I guess only time will tell.

Same I think there's a cautious upside in terms of "hey we're counting on you, don't fuck it up" and they HAVE to bring it, but then the downside is the historical sample size trend we can objectively look at. Who know, maybe this will be a "buy extremely low" sort of decision that really pays off

I have a jersey and two hoodies from Fanatics, and have no problems. They're nice, enduring many times wearing them and many wash cycles. I don't know, maybe I'm just lucky because it's a small sample size.

Already been through this with the Overwatch League, Fanatics came in and ruined all the gear. If they failed that horribly with a tiny brand, it's gonna be a shitshow what they will do to the NHL.
Mitchell&Ness was such a great quality throwback maker when they were small and independent. Had so many classic hats from them. It's such a shame what Fantatics did to them
Some of Mitchell and Ness’s products were actually made almost exactly like the stuff they used to make back in the day. It was kind of pricey, but it reflected in how authentic they made their products.

The last two jerseys i got were Colorado Avalanche Peter Forsberg's Home 1996 by CCM, and the COLORADO one by REEBOK. Good ole days! You can feel the difference in material and heaviness in the jersey. I didn't care for the feel of the newer ones....

when lou nanne took the minnesota north stars off network tv and put it on a dish service that we couldnt afford, the nhl was replaced by simply going to the rink. if the nhl has lost market share, its because the average home cant spend the extra 50 to 70 per months for the nhl package. or the $200 for a two person night out for one mn wild game.
Pride nights are #1, this is small by comparison. Their All-Star "game"/competition sucks, players don't care, and Bettman is clueless as usual.

I have a Fanatics hat but I only buy those to throw on the ice when the 3 goal opportunity arises - I can't wear those replica Breakaway jerseys without an undershirt because the poor quality stitching scratches my chest, had to get an Adidas authentic

Sure, they aren't the typical brand you'd expect, but they aren't a nobody.

Not a big sweater guy, but I do enjoy collecting caps. While fanatics lids aren't the pinnacle of swag it would be nice to have mlb type options for fitted caps. Fingers crossed.
New era hats are great. I went to Madison square garden and they had some rangers and knicks new era hats. I bought 2 rangers and 1 knicks hat. Honestly i likely would have bought a few spares of these hats due to knowing the quality of most of the hats sold online.
I've been wanting to add some NHL hats to my collection. When I buy them, I usually just go straight to eBay, like when I wanted a Kings hat with the shield logo.

I specifically remember buying an Avalanche Lake Tahoe sweatshirt with the old Nordiques logo on it from Fanatics. The printing just became so worn after maybe one or two washes, so disappointing. This is a terrible change for the league, especially when hockey merch is just too cool to be not great quality.

Adidas jerseys and merch was like the best ever. Fanatics like i've seen ppl get jersey with names spelt wrong, numbers unmatched on back/arms, hat logo printed backwards ect... not a good move... idk if this is gonna happen this time, but if this does im gonna be upset

Usually firms pick suppliers for a few reasons, including cost savings, some sort of personal relationship between the vendor and buyer, or because the way the buyer values the goods or services is actually different than the way the rest of the world sees it. My guess its all three here: Fanatics provided a cheap quote, the NHL and Fanatics executives built some sort of relationship, and maybe the NHL doesn't view fan merchandise as its big bread winner, compared to future TV or other revenues.

The only Fanatics jerseys I have were DEEP discounts for players traded or let go. I'm talking $25 for a jersey. I can't imagine paying a full $170 for a Fanatics jersey, especially when the Reebok ones cost the same but were infinitely better quality. This is shameful.

I have well-used t-shirts and sweat shirts from 25-30 years ago that still have clear logos and nice cuffs. I wonder if part of the problem, besides greed, is the enviro laws restricting what kind printing materials they can use, ie. water-based replacing solvent-based. I know wood furniture makers are being forced to use inferior water-based finishes in some places.
CCM rules. I paid a good price for them, but they were quality. I've been griping about Bettman for years. He's done more harm than good for the NHL.

i understand why the nhl did it. theyre a business out to make money. and personally i dont want to fork over 200 bucks to get an authentic jersey to wear. Ive always just borrowed my dads jersey due to that. making jerseys more affordable for everyone might help grow the NHL through free advertising. In the end though they cant make any money without people purchasing the jerseys in the first place. So if the quality is as bad as they say it is its gunna need some work, or just offer the levels of quality up to player quality so fans can pick and choose. But that would just come with more overhead when it comes to inventory so id doubt they make that move. Boo on Adidas for giving the cold shoulder to the NHL.

Just remember this is a move to save more money and provide us with even cheaper, poorer quality items, while raising the price. I'd rather buy a $500d high quality jersey that will last a life-time, than a low quality $150 jersey every 2-3 years.
Contrary to popular belief, the players don't make money for the NHL, the players do. The players come to games, watch them on TV, and buy logoed stuff even when the team is in the dumps. Chicago still has fans coming, and still has fans buying their logoed merch.
Bettman has been abusing fans all season. The ads on the players, the virtual ads all over the boards and ice, now a deal that promises no decrease in the quality of on ice jerseys, but no mention of the quality of fan jerseys. I have no idea who would replace him, but I the Bettman era has come to an end.
Maybe they’ll come out with a Gary B bobble head doll. Fans can get lifelike Gary souvenir.

What makes the NHL look awful is their continued adherence to the "Hockey is for Everyone" mantra. Divisive and shortsighted. That mantra will see the NHL go the way of the NBA and NFL with a drop in ratings especially in the American market. Heck, the NBA ratings were dominated by women's college basketball. Bettman is out of touch and so are the owners, management, and most of the players. And the NHL is banking on Turner Sports to bring up their viewership? Good luck with that. That network spends more time promoting the WNBA which draws less than 1,000 fans to games than the NHL. The NHL is no longer in the Top 4 pro sports in North America. They have bee usurped by MMA and are quickly going downhill. For the NHL, Fanatics is the least of their worries. Thank you, Gary Bettman. You're doing an awesome job. Not.

I love collecting hockey jerseys.I have had 2 bad fanatics experiences.I think they should have done a 3-5 year deal almost like a test run.If they liked what fanatics has done they can renew it if not look for a new jersey provider.Even though I don’t hate fanatics I still don’t like the contract.

I'll go ahead and comment, as some who has collected jerseys seriously in the past 3 or so years now, yeah this move dissapoints me, I've liked pretty much all the brands the NHL has had make jerseys up until Fanatics. I have 2 fanatics jerseys in my collection because I got them early on and the Adidas jerseys didn't have many names at the time compared to Fanatics (and named adidas jerseys were also really expensive in general) and probably my biggest regret was buying them at full price, after having so many replica and authentic from the other brands, Fanatics really does have big shoes to fill and probably the only way I would get them is if they make on ice jerseys for sale again for retail like CCM and Reebok used to do. I'm not holding my breath that they will but it would be a step in the right direction.

No way i am buying anything fanatics. In the past, mid to high level cost point merchandise i have purchased has shrunk and literally fallen apart in 2-3 washes. Its been relegated to sleeping attire because i would not dare wear it out in public anymore. This is bad.
Here in Canada you can find the fanatics jerseys at most SVP stores for around 19.99 to 39.99. Tbh, never had any issues with mine. I still think this is the wrong way to go but considering Adidas did not want to continue what were the other options.
