    The large Trevor model comes with Thomas and a truck, and the string attached him to either the front of the truck or back of thomas. I think. I'm telling this from memory, because I did have that piece.

    The Trevor with the string was apart of a pull-back-release kinda toys. Trevor would be on a tram behind Thomas. If you pulled back Trevor then Thomas zooms.

    The plastic Trevor came with a Thomas set. It had a plastic Thomas with a flat bed to pull Trevor up on to the flat bed but the string looked cut off

    @CalleyFan thanks, and this explains why it is devoid of who made it, sounds like it was the slave of a two part toy
    i thought it was Tomy as it had all the classic traits of Tomy stuff, strong colour and good design

    The large Trevor was a part of a Thomas and Friends toy, you would pull it back, and it would act like those pull back take and play engines.

    @TMRReturns the toby prize has taken a fair bit of time to pull together, finding the mint in box ERTL stuff was a very lucky find at a model railway show I went to

    The TWR Skarloey was recalled back in 2007 but if the engine has the code with the letters ‘WJ’ or ‘AZ’ then it’s fine. Just something you might want to know!

    3:05, I actually had the large Trevor that was part of a Thomas and Trevor set. You had to pull back Trevor (who was on a low loader) in order to whoosh both characters forward. I no longer own them. :(
    6:57, I have the "fatty" Thomas which I found at a car boot sale but didn't contain the stamp.
    I'd personally like to own the Bertie at 4:33 and James 6:33. I really want the soft toy Harold at 10:14, looks quite cute, having the urge now!

    Trevor - The wood breaking is not rare to see as it is usually happens when the wood begins to decay(after many years) and possible something got stuck between the front wheels I put clay for tracks and the train got stuck in it and then I tried removing it after it got hard and then that happened.

    Nice collection Leo! That wooden trevors old owner was no Jem Cole was he? Oh, and a little fun fact about the hornby thomas. The hornby range of Thomas products was based mostly on the trains you would see in real life, giving it more of a railway series (the original books) feeling to it. Thomas' real engine class is a London E2 0-6-0 tank engine :)

    Hey, Leo, I think I know why Duck and Duncan are heavier. It's because they are probably mid 2000's take-along toys while Dart and Belle are very new. I say this because the old take alongs are metal while the new ones are plastic. Also, I agree with you on the ruling about the Hornby thomas being the "odd man out" as while it may be the better value for money as already stated by Simierski, they just don't get the feel that the Bachmann toys get.

      Reminder from literally 2024:
      Both Duck and Duncan are from 2002, two of the 14 take along engines are, Donald, Douglas and Diesel 10 are also from 2002 with D initial btw

    Another fantastic video! I like that little thomas you have, the one you compared to the pez thomas. I actualy have an Edward from that collection, i have never been able to work out what thier purpose was! I also have the little roller James, his eyes are facing forwards, like yours! Another thing i have that may be of some interest to you is two boulders! I have one that came with a trackmaster set and one i found, and don't know the purpose of!!

  • @gavinfuzzy
    @gavinfuzzy 13 років тому +1

    The metal rollers James has his eyes slightly up on purpose. He was always the ego one in the show, proud people also look upwards, so same thing applies to trains. (maybe? :D)
    The tomy tomas on the circular track display base is actually a Gashapon one. Or ball machines, if you call them that. It costs 100 yen, but the coin in, turn, and out comes your toy in a ball. there were 7 different designs i belie. I remember owning Percy and thomas. Gashapon toys are worth alot, so they would be pricy

  • @steamengineshooray
    @steamengineshooray 13 років тому +1

    That tomy thomas at 9:33 was actually a prototype for some capsule thomas stamps that I had when I was small. Thomas, Edward, Gordon and a battered Toby stamp survive but James and Percy have been lost on my 'adventures'. :)

    As for that collection of Thunderbirds you've got, I've still got a Tracy Island play set which had Thunderbirds 1, 2, 3 & 4, though sadly it and the 'Birds aren't in the best of conditions nowadays as I was a bit rough on some of my older toys when I was a kid (poor Tyrannosaurus Dinozord from my original DX MMPR Megazord in 1993 has had a busted hip for over a decade now for example).

    Looking at the size of your collection of legit Thomas toys, I'm very surprised I can't see any HO/OO Bachmann Thomas engines and only 1 Hornby Thomas in there!
    Then again, I've still got my Hornby HO Thomas from back in the 90's and actually like him as he doesn't seem to be too squashed unlike the bulk of the other Thomas toys out there, and matches the old models more than anything else.

    Thunderbirds is a kick ass show! I liked everything about that show especially the fact that Alan Tracy and Tintin kyrano are a couple. Too bad they didn't make an episode where they get married. Special thanks once again to century 21 productions and for Gerry Anderson for creating the future machines(i.e, thunderbirds 1,2,3,4,5, the Ocean Pioneer ships, fireflash, the crab logger etc) realistic looking puppets( i.e. Scott Tracy, Gordon Tracy lady penelope etc) and an awesome tv show!

    Hmm, never seen a Wooden toy so damaged as that Trevor. The worst I have is a Duncan with chipped paint (it's been under the dryer for years :-P).
    Also about the roller toys, I don't think the eyes make much difference. The different Plarail engines have their eyes looking all over the place (some left, some right, straight, up, down, etc.).

    Funny thing is I guessed the heavier of the two take-n-Play toys :P. Must admit, though, I love the Hornby Thomas, but compared to the bright, bold blue of the other Thomas', that one just doesn't fit in and makes it just stick out like a sore thumb

  • @BaiocoIslandFilms
    @BaiocoIslandFilms 13 років тому +1

    Actually to solve the mystery of the Take 'n' Play weights, just check the dates (sorry for the rhyme) as Simierski showed in his conversion video, the Den and Dart, and possibly Belle models are more plastic due to later production, hence- cheaper- and on collections, do you have a shampoo bottle thomas, they're just like the whistle one.

It was delivered today and he loves it. When it is closed you can set it on the table and it lines up with the thomas bridges and hills for the wooden track.

    The Hornby Thomas is one of the few that looks right, as he would have been an Southern E2 tank engine like the Hornby model. Shame he had to be squashed over the years into a cartoon like character, rather than a steam machine that had a job to do.
    I was a fan of Thunderbirds as a kid when they re-ran the show on ITV. My dad was also a fan when he was a kid. I recognise alot of the toys shown, but we only have a few.

    I have this Thomas that pulled a flat car/flatbed and Trevor was on top of it and I think it was the same size as seen in this video. Not sure if it could be one of those or something else cause I don't recall my Trevor having a string unless mine was ripped off because it might have also been able to attach to Thomas.

  • @deanokken8960
    @deanokken8960 10 років тому +1

    That Trevor with the string is actually from a pull-back Thomas. That thomas had an wagon, and trevor was attached to the back of Thomas. You'd pull back Trevor, and Thomas would ride away. It is indeed a Tomy! Fun fact about that Thomas whistle, they are still being produced! Same mold that is! The wheelbarrow in the boulder set is from Fifi And The Flowertots, i think. But Thomas did come with the set though. The weight downsize is purely for safety, like the Thomas jet engine you showed, an heavy engine like Duck could be an dangerous metal missile!

  • @gavinfuzzy
    @gavinfuzzy 13 років тому +1

    the trevor with the string is a Tomy one. its part of the "kids" range where they drag it along the floor.
    As for the Tomy thomas and percy, I personally had not had a Tomy made in Vietnam, and none from china either. i collected Tomy plarail from 1999 - 2008, and they were all from Thailand. Percy seems legit none the less, as Tomy merged with Takara, to become TakaraTomy, and have many factories in Vietnam.
