One year ago I started watching your videos, almost every night before went to bed. I purchased my first handgun, a cowboy revolver, Heritage Rough Rider, because of your video on that revolver. I visited the indoor shooting range the first time in my life to try that cowboy gun and immediately joined the range as a member. I went to the shooting range almost every night, just tried to learn shooting skill like you . I signed up CCW class and got the CCW permit. Now, a year later, I own 19 hand guns, all of which were introduced in your videos. Beginning of this year, I started purchasing rifles. Just 2 months, I own 3 rifles. No, not this time, no more firearms but I still love to watch your channel!
Hickok45 if your not gettin ads start a patreon for people to donate. I'm sure plenty of people will be glad to help support our channel. Like so he can see
I know you have many fans. I for sure am one. But I got to say that was some very impressive shooting. I see many do shooting reviews off of a bench, and that's all fine and good. But to watch you work over range 2 off handed, that was awesome.
After watching his first Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 7.62x39 I went out and bought one. This is one sweet-shooting rifle. I took a 250 pound hog with it right off the bat and she just rolled over. With out of the box ammo I was able to shoot one MOA. Thanks Hickok45.
Now that is interesting, I suspect that that hog is going to be rendered down into all sorts of good eats! I have a thing for pulled pork sandwiches and bacon!
I also bought one after his first review, I had been looking at the CZ and Howa's. When I saw Ruger was making this bolt gun it I jumped on it. Mounted a Nikon Buckmaster on it and in 3 shots, 3 deer. Freezer full. Federal Fusion ammo. This thing is a tack driver, and with ammo for this caliber still readily available and relatively inexpensive, you can afford to shoot it a lot. It's dead on with cheap steel cased ammo as well.
I have it zeroed in at 100 yards. In the ridge and valley area I live and hunt in that would be a stretch. The deer I harvested were in the 50 yard range. That being said, I figure a couple hundred yards would be a lethal range for this weapon.
Mr. Hickok, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. My boys are watching as well. I have enjoyed and have learned so much from your demonstrations and thoughts. God bless you Sir. NRA proud.
Love your channel! I wish I would have spent more of my younger days where I could have experienced more vintage weapons like you have. But I'm getting in there now, practicing, trying to buy guns I like and would suit me to protect my family. I REALLY appreciate your ability to covey your knowledge in a positive way so we can get a good feel as to what each firearm does. Merry Christmas, God bless you! Mike
That's a great option for the always sold out *CZ527!* The CZ is a really nice looking rifle thought. Thanks for posting this because I missed this one entirely because all I've been after for ever was the CZ, but I'll gladly take this little guy for my climbing stand companion for sure... Just as soon as I pay down my bills. 😫
I hope that you never stop making your awesome videos, unless of course you just get tired of doing it. It is one of the special places on UA-cam where Freedom Rings - Especially when you are shooting steel. All the best ; )
That's what you were stacking ties for. I was a good student and didn't get in trouble at school much. I did go toe toe with a couple teachers in shouting matches though. I would not even think about it with you. It's probably why John is such a good kid.
I have enjoyed this weapon tremendously in this configuration. Have run it on the range using the Army's static "C" paper qualification, and it's a cinch. The action is not whisper-smooth like on a quality .270 but for the relatively modest cost (both the scope, and the weapon) it shoots exactly how I want it to shoot. Love that 20-round magazine. Makes for a great Poor Man's Scout.
“Poor Man’s Scout” - exactly, for the dough this thing is a fantastic truck/deer/hog gun, especially with the factory 20 rounders, in any kind of more forested/hilly country. (I guess you’d want a 6.5 Creedmoor instead if you live in like a Wyoming mountain valley with 300+ yard shots as the norm.)
Hickock45 seems so cool and wise. I wish he was my neighbor. Come home from a stressful day at work and he waves me over...We hangout on his front porch in rocking chairs and enjoy a chaw of tobacco while he shares words of wisdom about firearms and just life it's self with me.....Just a fantasy of mine lol.
Dusty Sullivan And later, as the surgeon's carving out your cheek and tongue from the cancer you can tell him, " But we looked so cool chewing tobacco "
I have this rifle and it's awesome. Light, accurate, and survived a season in the northern part of Minnesota that was really cold this year. Good gun for the price.
Jimmy Sapien 534 and change but I did order it from a local shop around my house. I have a bone collector scope on it and it is a cool looking rig. Low recoil and similar ballistics to the 30/30 under 200 yards. Plus I want to get a nice muzzle break to put on the threaded barrel.
Just renewed my NRA membership using your discount. Truly enjoy the videos. Glad you and your son share similar passions. Keep the videos coming. Take care, God bless. Aloha.
I like your response. I sure wish others were willing to hear. Makes me sick when the first thing I think when I hear about shootings is "oh boy, here we go" cause I can see the usual coming a mile away. That ain't right but unfortunately it's the reality I've seen too often. As a Pro A2er; I'd be willing to defend people if I'm able; even if they don't share my views. I'd still be willing.
I got one after see your 1st video. Very happy with it. I put a muzzle brake on it. It uses Ruger Mini 30 mag. Cheap ammo . accuracy too. I shoot it with a BSA Scope.GE3-9x40IR .
In most cases your definitely right. If the threat is more than 100y away I would much rather just get the hell out of there! I've been paintballing many times and realize how easy it is to get hit, lol. Back to the original 100 yard point, though. That's why I went with a galil ace 308 for my battle/shtf rifle.
Hickok45! Please do a video on the Sig P230 or P232 (.380), they are a really cool and well made version of a PPK and it is way more available and affordable than buying a walther PPK or PPK/S
I bought one when they first came out and can't say enough about them. Yes they are not encased in a great piece of American hardwood with an ultra smooth action. I'd love one of those but cash is tight. They are.... A great gun @400 - 500 bucks (think I got mine cheaper) that shoots better than me with a crappy scope and $6/20 Tiger fmjbt ammo. I only have a 100 yd range but am in 2inches with steel case ammo at that distance while my 11 kid is ringing the same hole at 25yds. Great cheap fun and with mini 30 mags they look cool.
Nice-looking gun it's a good little round we've hunted in Missouri some years ago with an SKS I believe is 125 grain bullet and it dropped at dough like it was nothing going to have to check out that Ruger thanks Hickok

hickok45 who was on the camera
It's always John.
Great comment
Thankyou Mr. Hickock for your wisdom and professional support of our second amendment rights
Thanks for all the great videos
This dude is a fantastic shot with pretty much any weapon ever.
vtine85 he could probably hit those targets with a flare gun lmao
Devin Overmeyer Maybe even when the shot flies a bit to the left!
He taught me how to shoot
I think Hickok could spit and hit all those targets!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So it's been a year, how much do you love your Ruger American in 7.62x39?🤣
I love mine and it loves the cheap steel cased stuff. Awesome little rifle.
thx for report
really, I was looking into one but I heard they have issues with steel cased ammo

Mikhail Kalashnikov said that the 7.62x39 had unexplored potential. I feel like this is part of that.
Where did he said this?
After watching his first Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 7.62x39 I went out and bought one. This is one sweet-shooting rifle. I took a 250 pound hog with it right off the bat and she just rolled over. With out of the box ammo I was able to shoot one MOA. Thanks Hickok45.

What would you say the maximum range of the fire arm is
I have it zeroed in at 100 yards. In the ridge and valley area I live and hunt in that would be a stretch. The deer I harvested were in the 50 yard range. That being said, I figure a couple hundred yards would be a lethal range for this weapon.

Love mine! Topped it with a burris fullfield 3-9x40 e1 scope. Great little rifle thats a blast to shoot and surprisingly accurate
I got the 5.56 version. It takes ar mags. Definitely saved me some money for mags.
I got one of them it's a great rifle..... Not one complaint
Ruger did a good job on this rifle . Have seen nothing but good reviews on it . Like always good shooting .
You are best gun reviewer going and one hell of a shot. I always look forward to your videos. Keep up the good work!

Jonathan Springs do most people take their glasses off? I never do, but my eyes are really bad...... I’m still a decent shot though ;)

I'm convinced. Onea demdere is on my list as of NOW. Thanks for what you do.
