Liked and subed! The rcf had a bum start because Clarkson’s negative 2014 review of it not being a close enough successor to the lfa. A bit unreasonable of a ask. Seemed that other car reviewers seemed to respect his opinion so much that no one would give it a fair shake. That na V8 in manual mode is so visceral and and has so much character. It has always deserved a little more respect for being a car that can be driven to track days and never asking for anything but oil changes. Once you guys get into it you’ll probably see that Lexus kept tuners in mind by letting the car be so easy to work on. I have a feeling they knew it would become a future classic. First mods should be exhaust, figs front bushings (a must for cheap money), brake pad upgrade, and oil catch can. The car is neutered by the stock exhaust. The rcf community favors the invidia if you do not want drone and something that can be both quiet and loud when you want. If you don’t care about loud any of the exhausts will be a fine choice and get the blood pumping. You guys are going to love it on track. The car is a bit numb until you’re on track and realize it just needs to be on track to really communicate back to the driver. Glad you mentioned the Supra. I’m hoping the rcf goes down in history as the real mk5.

I've beat the absolute dog shit out of German cars at thunder Hill last summer. Cars been tuned, lca mounts, brake pads, fbo. I've gotten a ton of compliments on the exhaust note and the handling. While FI cars overheat, this thing just lays down the hammer. My brakes overheated before the engine or trans even ticked up on temp. It was 108°f that day and the rc-f was doing just fine. I was dying though.
I know many slam the RC F for its weight, but I love it - feels like a GT tank. It’s not a sports car, perhaps, but as a GT, I think it’s driving feel is fantastic!
Very nice. I own an RCF (CF/TVD) myself. You also have the TVD with CF package and it really makes the rear end very lively. You should play with the TVD modes especially the SLALOM mode. It is the button in the center console below the traction control button. Use SPORT+ and not SPORT. SPORT+ and MANUIAL mode are the best mode to use. SLALOM mode for TVD to make the steering super quick and sharp. On the track, TRACK mode works best in high speed sweepers and esses. Agreed, it needs an exhaust. It was my first mod I did. It also gains quite a good chunk of wheel HP as well. About +18 whp or so. I have some videos on it as well.
Thanks for the tip on the Slalom mode. We will be using this next outing. We didn't have many complaints about the steering so we are psyched to try this mode. The exhaust is necessary. We will be checking out your videos on the RCF.

I agree with you as it has been a dream to own as I have owned mine since 2017 (mine is a 2016). This car does not get enough credit. Trust me, it gets better and better with well-thought mods like full exhaust, headers etc. I have quite a few on already and a few more mods coming soon I will be putting on in March timeframe as mine is sleeping through the winter. One is a lower control arm bushings from RR racing and the other is the Harmonic damper pulley (50% rotational inertia reduction). I also will be uploading Dragy GPS timed accelerations soon (have them waiting to be edited) 60 - 130 mph and 1/4 mile etc. Cheers!

I would recommend full exhaust and headers (best gains and sound) as the two first mods. I plan on doing videos in spring when I have the harmonic lightweight damper pulley installed and Dragy tests to see how the gains look like. Cheers!

Most likely, the 60 - 130 mph one first and the 0-60 mph and 1/4 mile some time later on to follow. Should give an idea on the baseline for future mods. Cheers!
One and only gripe is the dashboard having a physical speedometer rather than the full digital sliding bezel like the LFA. The RC350 has it, I wonder why they didn't do the same wth the F. "Track features" doesn't seem to be a viable excuse considering the LFA had all the lap timers and such with the moving bezel. Love the yellow or white with the carbon package however!
@@zacharybell5712 Indeed, what I implied was that all of those features could've still worked with the full sliding bezel like the LFA. Its just ironic that the 350 model has a subjectively better dashboard for having it but not the top dog F
@@salmon4o4 nah I’ve owned a RCF for over a year and the dash board and everything’s a 10/10 there’s already too much going on with the car to show my friends a sliding bezel it’s all about driving hard reliably

I'm sure its one of those things that don't really matter since the driving experience is sure to be splendid in that masterfully crafted monster. Spotted in the last FnF Supra vid! 👀👌Forget the bumpers you can barely see it. Funny because the MKIV Supra had the same issue 3 decades ago! Keep the RC-F! I thought it was a Track Edition love the mods and the wing! It’s way more fun then the IS500. My thoughts exactly this should of been the new Supra! They screwed up! The ending 🤣 let them have F-un that’s what’s the F was made for!

You are correct as IS500 was created really to be an IS350 F-Sport with RCF engine. Even the transmission behaves differently in IS500. RCF has a lot of track stuff the IS500 does not have (hence the much higher price tag especially with the CF/TVD package). I drove an IS500 (own an RCF CF/TVD) and it feels very soft even in SPORT+ and the steering has very little effort (RCF has a heavy steering in SPORT+) and RCF is quite playful that kicks the tail out very easily staying playful anytime you want it to despite being on bigger tires and wider wheels with sticky compound while the IS500 even on narrow tires wants to roll more under power while cranking the steering rather than slide it sideways.

I've installed an Apexi N-1 cat back exhaust with the resonators, and it sounds awesome. That stock exhaust had to go. Did the cat back increase HP? Who knows, but it's a blast to drive and have fun! Big Smile on the face😃! I love this thing!
Thank you for watching! This was less a review and more of us just finally getting a chance to drive this beast! We have a great relationship with Apex'i USA so we would likely go with the same exhaust. It's less about the HP with something like this and more of the added sensation you get while driving. We are excited to drive it again and maybe get some more footage.
Yeah, you have to make sure to annoy the living shit out of every single person you meet with your childish obnoxious exhaust when you buy such a car right? The stock exhaust is perfect you hear it just fine inside the car without being a douchy insecure asshole on the outside.
@@JustDriven yes. I had a 2016 RC F with the stratus grey interior… Unfortunately it got totaled so I’m looking for a new one. If you guys are looking for an exhaust, I’d suggest the GT Haus catback. I had it on mine (check my UA-cam channel) and man was it worth it. Pricey but worth it in my opinion.
It may be similar to the IS500 , there's a slider knob/button on the left side of the sterring wheel, called the ASC button. that's the artificial sound. at least thats where it is on the IS. i keep it off. the engine sounds good enough with out it.

Your daughter is amazing. What's her name? She should get a shout out! Yellow is a tough color to love. It works on school buses, parking structures, and those signals telling you to speed up before a light turns red. This color for the RCF is a little more rare and in person looks pretty awesome.
When it comes to paint, metal needs 1 or 2 more primer layers above the plastic. Also the more you sand and block each layer, the crisper the paint will be. Do 2 more clear coats above manufacture spec
Other than lowering the RCF with swift springs, where there any front upper camber control arms and rear camber arms needed? or did you guys install the swifts and then did an alignment for it to sit the way it does in the video? Thank you in advance
Not a bad thing to love on this car! This thing is rad! Not sure why the Z4 isn't getting much love though. Maybe styling? If you had the new A90 Supra or the Z4 to choose from, which one would you take home?
They do have different sizing options. We chose these options because they wouldn't require any fender work and they were readily available at the time.

Thanks for reaching out! The RCF is currently running the Volk Racing G025 at all four corners. The fronts are 20x9 +35 and a 265/30 tire and the rears are 20x10 +35 with a 285/30 tire. The springs are the Swift Springs Spec Rs.
We did end up selling this. Not because it wasn't amazing, but because we have too many builds going on right now and felt this would be better in the hands of someone who could drive it.
A manual would be legendary but is that really the craziest thing? Sequential would be much coooer The you do that in 5 litre? The tt idea up there is def the toppp but manual idk

It's a little more about the time to do it honestly. With so many projects it's about carving out the opportunity to take these to the track. Maybe we can take a group of the builds to the track and do an entire day.
Ok, I’ll sub. Wanna see more of this project. LoL! I had an 08 ISF and loved it. Sold it and regretted it, so I eventually picked up a 20 RCF TE. 👍🏻😬 You can’t get this kind of performance with long term reliability imo.
@@JustDriven Definitely like the TE better than the ISF. But I found the ISF to be more iconic in a way due to it being Lexus’ first real entry into the performance world.
@@JustDriven I suggested this on other channels, and most of the replies were that it was too heavy to start with, or the platform was aging and would never be up to track spec without a do-over. imho Toyota could have probably spent a tenth of what they spent on the Zupra, stripping down the RCF to make it more hardcore, re-engineering the chassis enough to sharpen it on the track, and beefing/boosting the V8. That would have slayed. You guys are well on your way already, it would be great journey to try to do what Toyota should have done in the first place - the JD Supra!!
Yah, it is a heavy car. But we are assuming it's why the V8 was the chosen for the power plant. We aren't mad at Toyota for putting together a collaboration with BMW. The new Supra is an amazing machine. It just seemed to us using the RCF platform would have been a no brainer and like you said, less expensive?
I love the looks inside and out, love the sound and performance. One thing I can't get over is the price. Just so many other cars that can equal or outperform for so much less
@djardy07 well most v8s can make that or much more when boosted. Mods and money can make allot of power lol its reliable, I'll give ya that but twice the price than others in the same performance bracket is tough.

It is an Artisan Spirits replica wing purchased from eBay and cleaned up and recleared here at the shop. The replacement trunk was purchased new from Lexus. Those retail for about $1k. You'd have better luck finding a used one on Facebook marketplace.
That is a beautiful color. I have a 2015 CF/ TVD and it’s the best thing I’ve driven and it wants to go all out or be tame if you want There’s way too much to say about it but In short: if you sell it you’ll just regret it. Play with all the modes including expert.
I had a 2016 RCF - biggest mistake i did was selling it 2 years later - i really hope, from the bottom of my heart - I can get my hands one day on a face lift version. Damn this thing put a smile on my face every single time!
We sold this one. It was SO much fun. The paint difference on the bumper was driving us nuts. Maybe we can find another clean example someday. We hope you can too.
@@JustDriven I want to put some 20” rims on my rcf. I was recommended 30 OFFSET front & 40 OFFSET rear and also wanted to do swift lowering springs, and the shop I’m working with said I might have to put some aftermarket camber arms as well. I want to avoid messing with the camber since I daily drive it and I don’t want to go through tires like crazy. So the only thing you guys have done to it are rims & springs correct. Nothing else
We haven't done any camber arms to this build. When you lower the vehicle it will by design change the camber. So you will affect the tire wear. Just be aware.
It's about a foot longer than the current A90 Supra and only 4 inches taller. Which surprised us. What's even more surprising is between the RC F TE and the Supra they have only about 300 lbs difference. Yah, it seems a bit far fetched, but the chassis felt like a good jumping off point.
@@JustDriven my suggestion cause of my own personal experience with my RCF, e85 hasn’t been explored yet with it just barely. Only one tuner in the US has made it happen with no forced induction. Honestly the best start is just building the best NA 5.0 in the game. Just subscribed will be watching this progress like a hawk

Yah, we noticed that. It doesn't make much sense to lave such a cool feature out of the more track focused vehicle.
It does have track timers and everything haha move to the F menu at the side there’s heaps of track stuff in there

Toyota/Lexus is known for not having the greatest paint. Just look at any of their older white cars.

No other camber arms were needed. The wheels we put on were not as aggressive as we usually slap on our cars.

Not a bad thing to love on this car! This thing is rad! Not sure why the Z4 isn't getting much love though. Maybe styling? If you had the new A90 Supra or the Z4 to choose from, which one would you take home?
Those wheels look pretty pricey, surely there would be a backspacing that would make them sit a little more flush & potentially a little more rubber?
They do have different sizing options. We chose these options because they wouldn't require any fender work and they were readily available at the time.

Thanks for reaching out! The RCF is currently running the Volk Racing G025 at all four corners. The fronts are 20x9 +35 and a 265/30 tire and the rears are 20x10 +35 with a 285/30 tire. The springs are the Swift Springs Spec Rs.

Nope. No rubbing. The offset is also offered by an optional Lexus wheel. It's very conservative in our books.

Ok, I’ll sub. Wanna see more of this project. LoL! I had an 08 ISF and loved it. Sold it and regretted it, so I eventually picked up a 20 RCF TE. 👍🏻😬 You can’t get this kind of performance with long term reliability imo.

@@JustDriven Definitely like the TE better than the ISF. But I found the ISF to be more iconic in a way due to it being Lexus’ first real entry into the performance world.

@@JustDriven I suggested this on other channels, and most of the replies were that it was too heavy to start with, or the platform was aging and would never be up to track spec without a do-over. imho Toyota could have probably spent a tenth of what they spent on the Zupra, stripping down the RCF to make it more hardcore, re-engineering the chassis enough to sharpen it on the track, and beefing/boosting the V8. That would have slayed. You guys are well on your way already, it would be great journey to try to do what Toyota should have done in the first place - the JD Supra!!
Yah, it is a heavy car. But we are assuming it's why the V8 was the chosen for the power plant. We aren't mad at Toyota for putting together a collaboration with BMW. The new Supra is an amazing machine. It just seemed to us using the RCF platform would have been a no brainer and like you said, less expensive?

I love the looks inside and out, love the sound and performance. One thing I can't get over is the price. Just so many other cars that can equal or outperform for so much less
You are not wrong. We've had many of them between us here at the shop. This has brought a smile to everyone's face but price is a strong factor.
But used… the price is just right. And it’s a Lexus so it’s reliable!
Reliable performance at its best. You won’t see that from many makes pushing this kinda power. Besides it’s NA, and can run 730whp when boosted
@djardy07 well most v8s can make that or much more when boosted. Mods and money can make allot of power lol its reliable, I'll give ya that but twice the price than others in the same performance bracket is tough.
The older models can be had for less than 40k used. This car is incredible for that price. I'm currently saving for one.
The colour is awesome. Mine is OEM Solar Fire Orange. I like your colour better but ya, the bumpers mismatching would bother me too.

It is an Artisan Spirits replica wing purchased from eBay and cleaned up and recleared here at the shop. The replacement trunk was purchased new from Lexus. Those retail for about $1k. You'd have better luck finding a used one on Facebook marketplace.

That is a beautiful color. I have a 2015 CF/ TVD and it’s the best thing I’ve driven and it wants to go all out or be tame if you want There’s way too much to say about it but In short: if you sell it you’ll just regret it. Play with all the modes including expert.
The Flare Yellow is even more beautiful in-person. We're very fortunate to have experienced the RCF. Enjoy yours!
I had a 2016 RCF - biggest mistake i did was selling it 2 years later - i really hope, from the bottom of my heart - I can get my hands one day on a face lift version. Damn this thing put a smile on my face every single time!
We sold this one. It was SO much fun. The paint difference on the bumper was driving us nuts. Maybe we can find another clean example someday. We hope you can too.

Did you guys have to install rear or front camber arms to adjust the camber? Or is it just springs and everything else stock
They are all within spec. These wheel sizes are the same as optional Lexus wheels.
@@JustDriven I want to put some 20” rims on my rcf. I was recommended 30 OFFSET front & 40 OFFSET rear and also wanted to do swift lowering springs, and the shop I’m working with said I might have to put some aftermarket camber arms as well. I want to avoid messing with the camber since I daily drive it and I don’t want to go through tires like crazy. So the only thing you guys have done to it are rims & springs correct. Nothing else
We haven't done any camber arms to this build. When you lower the vehicle it will by design change the camber. So you will affect the tire wear. Just be aware.

This platform would ben too big and too fat.
It's about a foot longer than the current A90 Supra and only 4 inches taller. Which surprised us. What's even more surprising is between the RC F TE and the Supra they have only about 300 lbs difference. Yah, it seems a bit far fetched, but the chassis felt like a good jumping off point.

We are still discussing what we should do to it.
@@JustDriven my suggestion cause of my own personal experience with my RCF, e85 hasn’t been explored yet with it just barely. Only one tuner in the US has made it happen with no forced induction. Honestly the best start is just building the best NA 5.0 in the game. Just subscribed will be watching this progress like a hawk
