There’s actually a 5th gen now as well. Both smaller than 3rd gen though so I haven’t really considered upgrading. I bet there are people out there doing some awesome conversions though!

Absolutely a game changer for women who want to do something like this. Well done. The bed frame is as you say overbuilt but much better made than you give yourself credit for. I also like that your actual bed is as close to a real bed as possible. It's so nice to get into a clean comfy bed at night, makes a big difference in your overall camping experience. I will never again sleep in a polyester "I can't turn over" sleeping bag. (unless I summit Mt. Everest again) 🤣 JK How about a vid on how you choose your non stealth, non improved, camping sites. Also how do you choose which areas to travel to, and what areas to avoid. Did they differ when you had a travel trailer instead of a small car. Cheers.

Oh I like Zeus! I was planning on reusing the name Bertha. However, the original Bertha was named that because I felt the name exemplified her old yet sturdy nature. This new one has been less than reliable. So maybe he’s a he and not a she? 😂
I have a 2014 pruis and I am planning a cross country trip. I plan on removing seats and adding platform where the seats are. Mainly for more covered storage area. I have never named a car of mine. But my Pruis is silver. So because a am a lone traveler. And I meet people as a stranger. I am a Lone Stranger. My Pruis is now named Silver. 🤠

It is a six can size fridge that I bought from Walmart but there are much better models available. This one suits my needs but wouldn’t really trust perishables in there. If the weather is nice and I have the hatchback up, I like to sit in that area. I use the drawers as a sort of desk or table for food. The toilet is my next option. Usually for lounging, I put a pillow against the door, sit on the toilet facing the bed, with my feet elevated on the bed. That’s actually what I’m doing now as I’m responding to comments here 😊
I’m not sure. I would think it would take awhile (like days) to drain the 12v completely if it does draw anything. I carry a self jumper starter in case but haven’t run into this. There’s also a way to start the Prius even with a dead 12v that I had to use recently when I turned off my car and forgot to turn off my inverter lol. It was mostly overdue maintenance as well as problems caused by neglect and abuse. Needed new tires, new brake pads and rotors. Needed fluids exchanged. Lots of bulbs missing including harness missing for one of them. Needed abs actuator replaced. It had 220k miles on it. A 2015 with less miles is less likely to have so many problems. This one was abused and neglected like crazy. I knew i was taking a chance with it, but got it at a decent price. Still, if I had it to do again, I would have bought one with much less miles on it though still would have aimed for a 2015.
@@sweetoldbertha you will get 300k+ from it with basic maintenance and repairs, keep an emergency fund just in case a larger repair comes up, otherwise you will enjoy her a lot!
@@judyb2425 oh yeah that’s probably decent. I would definitely recommend getting it checked out by toyota or a mechanic you trust. I did that with the original Bertha but not this one. Also, look into getting an OBD scanner+Dr. Prius to read codes and check the hybrid battery status.

I do live in it full time. Taller folks have taken out the passenger seat to make room for a longer bed. Not sure if you have info elsewhere… In Re: 1.5” lift - did you use steel, aluminum or polyurethane spacers Did you add them or a shop ? Mechanic or like a Midas Muffler that deals in shocks and struts. Greatly appreciate anything you can share. I definitely want to do same. 😊
I just used the Prius off-road kit. priusoffroad.com/products I had them installed on both my Priuses. But from what I’ve read, they’re easy to install if you’re mechanically inclined. Had the first installed by Toyota (on the side lol) and the other just at a small, local auto shop.

@@sweetoldbertha I’m doing a deep dive on alarm systems…happy to share anything I think might interest you I want something that detects physical motion or if a person approaches (“step away from the vehicle” ☺️) Viper seems to focus on remote start and not the actual alarm
Yeah the computer modules in mine were fried. But I read that a car hit by lightning may continue to need parts replaced for months or years because of the damage on the entire electrical system. I considered trying to save mine but didn’t want to risk it.

I like the half lap wood joint method. You can make your build lighter if you drill several strategically placed holes with a hole saw.

Is there a draw on the car battery when the back hatchback is left open? I am currently camperizing my prius and was wondering that.
