Bluefin Tuna Survives Boat Strike Unscathed 6/13/24-Hamptons Drone NEWS

This drone footage was taken 6/13/24, approximately 25 0yards off the coast of Coopers Beach in Southampton, NY. Large schools of menhaden (aka bunker) fish have arrived off the coast of Long Island, NY and with them the start of larger predators such as the bluefin tuna seen here. Fishermen are out in full force on the Atlantic catching the bounty of tuna and large striped bass.
This footage was taken with a 2x zoom, which makes the boat look much closer to the drone than reality. My heart sank seeing this boat hit the tuna while I was filming. I immediately went to locate the fish and was very pleasantly surprised she was just fine.

That tuna already had problems they never just meander anywhere they're always on the go looks like a fresh torn hook mark on the left side of his mouth as well.... he only got grazed by the port side of the hull nice fish too
