I traded my Tesla Model Y for a Blazer EV RS AWD, exactly like the one reviewed. I'm also an Apple person and I honestly do not miss CarPlay. The Google system works just fine. I can still play music from my phone via Bluetooth. There isn't much that I can't do that needs to have CarPlay. My Blazer is leaps and bounds more solid feeling than the Tesla, and the build quality is far superior. Sure, the seats are a little flatter, but I've driven my car on 4-5 hour trips and it was not uncomfortable at all. Now that the Tesa superchargers are available to Chevrolet vehicles, I'm even less worried about range (not that I was ever worried in the first place). Speaking of range, when I pull up a 100% charge range, it states I could get 338 miles . I know that no car gets their full range potential, but it just indicates to me that the 279 claimed miles does not seem far-fetched either. I never got anywhere near that on the Tesla. I also had a VW ID.4 - it was a lemon. I have not regretted for one second trading for my Blazer EV!
Any issues with possible battery fires? Just curious if GM has this issue with the Blazer as they did with the Bolt. Thinking about trading in my Jeep GC for the Blazer EV. I have a 2012 Volt that has had zero issues.
I love mine. WAY more smooth, quiet and refined than a family member’s Model Y. The giant backseat was also something I wanted. One of the biggest anywhere in an EV if you need to install rear-facing child seats.
I purchased the 2LT a month ago, I am indeed concerned with the charge door breaking at the most inopportune moment! What is Apple CarPlay?😉 I haven't missed it so far.
I just bought one of these, and as an iPhone user I don't care much about CarPlay. To me the bigger flaw in this Blazer EV is the overly sensitive warning systems. Unless you want to turn them entirely off, your drive will be filled with blinking lights, giant warning notices from the heads displays, tugging on the steering wheel and vibrations in the seats. Just rolling up to a stop light triggers the forward collision alerts. A car pulling up next to you triggers the blindspot sensors, easing around a parked car on the side of the road brings vibrations in the seat and tugs on the steering wheel. The Blazer is terrified of daily driving.
The odd thing with the Blazer is that to get it fully loaded you have to get the RWD or the SS. If you want a fully loaded AWD “Blazer” with carplay (without paying for an SS) you get the Honda Prologue and then hope that Honda doesn’t abandon the car and make it hard to service. I have test driven both the Blazer EV and the Prologue and they are nice. I think the 288 hp is adequate for this large and heavy SUV/Wagon, but I want more than adequate. Most of the competition have a higher hp to weight ratio.
I’ve had mine for 3 weeks, it’s great! Suggest the profiles need to be synced with the driver keys. The profiles are a bit odd as you person can’t set their preferences which doesn’t affect the other. I assume there will be updates which will help correct one day. The other concern is that charging port door. Mine has failed and the replacement is in back order. Strange design. Good thing is it can be opened by hand if stuck. Seats are flat and I take it are made to be a light weight as possible so it’s part of having a EV. Overall we are liking it!
@ma7mgte I appreciate his comment, but I feel it is unfounded as a complaint. I have a 2024 Lyriq and stopped using it in the car after the first two weeks of taking delivery. I no longer pair any phone with the Lyriq. The appleverse is really subpar when it comes to EV driving and awareness. Nothing beats using the native apps for driving an EV. If you want to chat with aunt Sally then pull over, then chat with her.
@@kelviskelvis7140 Really just an observation. I've yet to see a Android Auto user complain about this and journalist tend to be iPhone users. AA/ACP was a reaction to subpar factory systems. All I need are my music apps and maps when driving.
Auto journalists miss it because they are in new cars so often. Having CarPlay or android auto means that they can just plug in and have access to their phone. A regular driver would set the Blazer up and not have any further issues.
Tesla doesn't have CarPlay or AndroidAuto. Lucid doesn't have CA or AA. Rivian doesn't have CA or AA. Get over it. No journalist has complained when those vehicles don't offer CA or AA and yet they can't stop turning it into a big deal with GM. You can install all your usual Android apps on GM's system and run them natively. Holy crap are journalists making this into a big deal when it isn't.
Because it is a big deal. The journalists are doing their jobs and reporting on exactly what the consumers want… and that’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicles you listed aside from Tesla are NOT popular vehicles when looked at as a whole. They’re not even popular inside the small All-Electric Vehicle market. The every-day, average car buyer demands AC and AA and GM is an every-day, average car brand. That is why they’re making such a “big deal” about the subject.
My biggest complaint is that Pandora isn't offered in the built-in system. My Bolt has Pandora built-in, and carplay/android auto if I want or need to use it. But Pandora is my preferred music streaming service and there's no ability to play it on the new GM EV's. Bluetooth streaming is unacceptable. My state has strict cellphone laws. Even having your phone in your hand (not using it) and you can be popped with a substantial fine.
@@user-xf5dj1up8git’s not a big deal though. This nothing more than everyone complaining new cars didn’t come out with an 8 track player!!! You can add a CarPlay device if you absolutely need it for less than $100. Seriously, it’s ridiculous.
I'll bet people who are driving Tesla's and Rivian's have iPhones, actually, I have seen UA-camrs who bought them recording their experience using an iPhone. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis are finally having them wirelessly now but I doubt many more people are buying over their competitors. Ford and others who are barely getting into EVs need to provide more than just Apple Carplay. GM, Hyundai, and Kia I give respect for what they're doing in the EV world as legacy automakers.
Had mine for almost two months. Charge door mechanism has needed to be replaced twice already. Really would love a normal charging door. Missing Apple car play a lot. Absolutely love the vehicle otherwise.
I will check out the 2026. By then they will fix any of the bugs that pop up. I like the idea of the Ultium battery system but I want more. 400+ mile range, AWD, and apple carplay.
I wonder how much the insurance is going to cost. That's why I sold my first electric vehicle my Bolt euv. At no fault of mine they just cranked the insurance up more than more than doubling the cost basically taking away all my savings so I sold it. I would buy this in a heartbeat if the insurance wasn't out of control on these electric vehicles. I read that the average insurance for Tesla drivers is over $300 a month for insurance that's insanity. There's no way electric cars are ever going to get a real foothold until they bring these costs of ownership down.
I'm good with no Apple CarPlay. I've had so many issues with my iPhone not connecting correctly, but I rarely have issues when just doing a simple bluetooth connection. I tried the Google system, and it works great even with an iPhone.
How far does it go on the freeway at 70 MPH? That is what is most important to me, I haven’t found any 300+ miles BEV’s that do more than 200 miles, so you end up driving for 3 hours and charging for 1 or 2 hours if you end up at a 50 kWh charger. I am disappointed in BEV road trips.
I have done 300 on mine at 100% charge. Today I connected mine with 203 miles and 62 left at 80%. Will give you more miles than it said. I live in FL very hot no issues at all. Loved!
I prefer Android Automtive over CarPlay. GM did a great job integrating it in the Blazer. I prefer that infotainment system to the one in my Hyundai with CarPlay.
Range anxiety on all EVs can be solved by having a backup battery that's handy and portable and can be brought in the trunk and plugged inside. These compact backup batteries should have a capacity of at least 500 km drive range each.
@JoeE. That makes no sense. The Blazer EV has all the capacity needed for driving in the continental US in 2024. What has not been brought up here is true for all EV owners. All the cost saving advantage is achieved by charging at home. 250 mile road trips are only 10% of the time on average so you never need to look for a charger 90% of the life of the EV.
A very matter of fact and very good review without the snide remarks. Funnily my problem with the Blazer EV isn't AA and Apple Carplay, I don't need those and I am an Android user anyway, but for the money and being a EV it should be quicker and the front seating comfort based on multiple reviewers leaves a lot to be desired. That said those who own Blazers love it a lot.

I never use car play in my 2500 hd I prefer chevys nav system cuz Apple Maps suck and I use the native Spotify app for music car play very over rated unless your car doesn’t have maps and music natively
The whole apple car play and android auto is moot and stupid for many reasons, for one android market share is about 70% VS about 35% for apple, apple just seems like it is more important and greater because you are talking about one company that controls everything vs one that lets multiple companies use their os, secondary Google has admitted that they are moving away from Android auto at some point in favor of more native software platforms in the cars, the only reason to have deep phone integration is text messages and that is a distraction while driving, besides the use of Google os in the car paired with a android phone will solve all that For Apple people, ask apple to create a auto os that car manufacturers will use, stop complaining when Apple phones and computers are less than 35% of all the phones and computers sold If Apple had a larger market share, car companies would use Apple instead of Google
