    Perentie's may not be as big as a Komodo, but a far more efficient hunter. That tail is a serious weapon as well. Straight out of Jurassic Park.

      No, you are not the only one. At age 50 I’m watching this and beginning to think hard about the concept for the 1st time. Used to seeing those Komodo dragons sneaking up, taking a snip, then allowing the venom to set in. Never realized the remainder of them couldn’t run any extended distance.

      Aussie monitors can run very fast for a short distance, don’t try to outrun them! I had one in my backyard a few years ago, my wife was terrified, called me home from work but it was gone when I got there. (Not a Parentie, this was a southern one.)

    With this incredible camera footage I'm surprised it wasn't able to show us how close the parentee was actually to the kangaroo. A panoramic view would have been more effective than just showing the lizard and then the kangaroo running separately.

      I don't think you need any forensic science training to notice there was no kangaroo chase. Even the mice shown at the beginning: They make it look like this giant lizard was hunting those tiny mice, but then show it swallowing a rodent the size of its head.

      They used to coexist, at least in some part where desert meet with moist grassland or forest during ice age. But Komodo, along with the even bigger Megalania went extinct on Australia, so perentie is now the biggest one in the down under.

      It didn't say anything about Komodo and perentie coexisting, but judging from Komodo's habitat nowaday, it seems to be able to withstand drier climate despite being mostly forest animal, so it's likely both species of monitors did cross path in the old day.

      I thought the same. Two separate films put together. You never see the lizard and Roo in the same frame. Just garbage. A thirty pound lizard would get kicked to death dealing with a 200 pound kangaroo. Just ridiculous.

      Have worked with a few wildlife film crews and your right they make up alot of their stuff up. Just like this one, perentie do not hunt fully grown kangaroo´s.

      @@shaundouglas2057 Maybe a dingo would take on a small Kangaroo. Not a full grown one. People have no idea how powerful a full grown Kangaroo can kick. A 30 pound lizard would be stomped to a pulp.

      @@rickjason215 But Komodo dragons hunt buffaloes and the size difference between them is larger than the size difference here. So couldn't a perentie hunt a roo if Komodo dragons could hunt buffaloes?

      shooting the lizard and kangaroo together would have been impractical due to the height difference and the terrain, besides the chase might not have brought the lizard close enough to be in the same shot at all.

    This Parenty Lizard is the Little brother to the Komodo dragon's. It's faster and I didn't know it was another Monitor Lizard that is Poisonous wow! You learn something new every day.

    I have seen one Longer than a 2 lane road in width. Very big Reptile. It ran out in front of our 4x4 while we were doing 100km/hr. We got airborne and almost crashed. This happened just outside of Alice Springs. I couldn't believe it .

They won't question why my drone failed to take a high enough shot with both the Lizard and Kangaroo in the same frame to prove the lizard was really chasing the Kangaroo!"
