In theory this is more like patenting a specific dolly track path. The worry is a small dev is probably not able to pay to fight a bad lawsuit if their non infringing system looks kinda sorta like the nemesis system.

Humans invented nothing they just took it from environment and pretend they made it. With cartoon network owners your fiat dollar is worth ten cent.
GAME is made for auto-aimers with 30 PREMIUM FPS doing macro-transactions for cut content giving out their personal data and that data is being exploited by publishers to inflate their scam and keep people in the loop. Welcome to the brave naive world. Developers of said naive world can't face the facts so they suppress, censor people. Outsource their dirty work to influencers which get high when they receive free merch.
      Free merch > free speech.
Is your mind blown how people fall for same thing every time? It shouldn't be. Because divided, singled out individuals has no chance against organized criminal entity; corporation.
Corporation is an approved scam & spy business. Their approval was obtained through manufactured consent. Corporation is not the industry of manufacturing products. Corporation is in the industry of manufacturing consent.
As well Corporations [through governments] are harvesting our biometric data on global scale. So they can get to know us far better than we know ourselves,
and they not just predict our feelings but also manipulate our feelings and sell us anything they want- Be it a product as a service or politician.

As BK said, the company is censoring asses to begin with because people cared more about wanting to cover butts up, rather than abuse allegations, because that is what is considered to be the worry. This is all due to Leftist puritans that need to inject their morality into things. The truth is that as long as you like the product, you don't care about how you get it. Masks are a good example of this. After all the crap we got from China taking all the face masks, and the talk of growing our own supply. I very much care about not buying masks from the countries that screwed us over when the pandemic started. I literally cannot buy a Canadian face mask. so I got a hand made mask instead from my aunt. Somehow, despite all the government talk about making our own masks, the only reason we got any was because China felt it had enough.
      EDIT:
      Since I am asked.
-Left leaning, liberal puritans are a typically twitter mobs and game journalists. They say that sexy shots of women is exploitation.
Don't get me wrong though. I hate the right wing puritans as well.
-Right leaning, conservative puritans are the religious, that say lusting after women is a sin. They currently don't have the power to censor like they used to though.

I always thought about making something similar in my mind - a game (which’ll be “18+”, NOT “E” or “3+”), which consists of paying lootboxes or whatever to progress the game until the end. Inspired by the EAs masterworks of “Fifa” and whatever the specific name was for that Star Wars online game.
But, for every player, I’ll send back the amount of money they spent on this game. Because I’d rather be a much nicer person than the EA.

to my very limited knowledge you can ask the patent office to reevaluate the patent and, if they don't revoke it, you can take it to court. if you use example of past art that is similar (like, say, any other game with enemies that evolve over interactions with players) then you could get it revoked that way, assuming you have the cash to win (start a go-fund-me, well off developer hopeful reading this, i'll donate and i'm sure lots of others will to bring wb down a peg and to protect art).

I can only speculate but I imagine these gamers (the stupid ones) are applauding WB because now they don't have to play any 'weak pretenders' to the Nemesis throne. No one is going to make a game with anything even remotely approaching the Nemesis system (apart from the ones that already exist.) And these fanboys are wallowing in elitist snob-ism. "That's right! You don't like our game? You don't get to play anything else! You want a Nemesis system to munch on? It's our way or the highway bitch!"
And it's entirely pointless to try and point this out to them but: what harm does a 'knockoff' or 'pretender' to the Nemesis throne do to you and yours? You are not required or obliged to play every game that deigns to have a Nemesis system in it. But maybe others don't want to play a Nemesis system with Orcs in Mordor. Maybe they want to play it with pirates in space. Or ninjas under the sea. Or emotions inside your psyche. Do you really think WB is going to make all those variants when the Shadow games are doing as well as they are? Of course not. There's no incentive for them. But others might have done it. They might have done it up until the point that WB made it effectively illegal for them to do it unless they want to pay a MULTI BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY for the privilege.
Patenting a game mechanic is a direct refusal of the saying: "There is no perfect pasta sauce. There are only perfect pasta sauces." Variety and freedom are the catalysts of innovation. Today, those gamers celebrate stagnation and corruption. And that's sad.

But there are absolutely a huge number of native speakers who aren't just confused but downright angry, furious even, saying it's just wrong and an abomination of language to use "they" as a singular pronoun. And aside from it clearly being they who are wrong, they aren't upset about it because it's an English formulation they aren't familiar with because that happens to native speakers all the time, too. The anxiety that people feel who want to get into design when they worry about this comes from not wanting to waste time exploring an idea, and the feeling that your ideas could be completely stifled because some game already did something similar and you didn't know is a barrier to overcome. However, it's been used as a singular to mean "human being" or "person" for quite a while in formal academic texts in certain fields. Was just commenting on it being singular without going into your specific distinction, which is, indeed, an important one.
