I have seen these brothers live 4 times in Chicago starting in 1979. That they could perform so close to the album recordings means that these men played CONSTANTLY, nonstop, eery day and night. This is whats called a work ethic.
Best live performance by the Pulse I ever seen. They strayed a while but back in 2015 I got to see them, expected nothing, and they played all the oldies and really well. This is on another level I wish reggae was still made with this kind of inspiration.
I was there on a beautiful day in August. The concerts at the Vondelpark were free. Was my first Reggae concert with many songs of Handsworth Revolution that was released in 1978.

"Stepper" McQueen on bass left the group after the "True Democracy" album and moved out here in SoCal and joined a local short lived band called Mongoose. Sad to see him go.
One of the best live performances I've ever heard, regardless of genre. Wish I coulda been there in the flesh, born at least 20 years too late, but the music endures
My lovely yes you've tricked me My lovely you disowned me Music that you're dancing to The music that you're dancing to QUE FINAL PARA MAS BRUTAL DIOS MIOOOO,ESA ES LA BANDA QUE LE GUSTABA AL GRAN BOB MARLEY
I've seen Steel Pulse live and I've been to Vondel Park. Very cool setting for a cool band, would loved to have been there but I was 10 years old at the time and was more interested in the Incredible Hulk than reggae and european travel
Ik was er jammer genoeg niet. Wel ze gezien in Edenhal Amsterdam vele jaren terug. 1 van de weinige survivers uit die tijd. David and bandmembers stay alive. Augustus op Reggaelake Amsterdam
I saw steel pulse at the Brixton academy in London with my brother Phill and he's mate Ian in 1982 85 with my brother Phill and he's mate Ian very good gig and a good night's outs nice one one love paulas long live steel pulse. Rasta
Amazing how good they were able to sound outdoors. But didn't this set include "Prodigal Son"? I'm looking everywhere for a very particular live version. Love the way Grizzly finishes the percussion at the tail end of the bridge in that version, though it may not have been the one in this set. I thought it was part of this set marleyarkives.wordpress.com/2013/01/12/steel-pulse-live-at-ritz-theatre-nyc-august-13-1982-feat-al-anderson/?unapproved=102844&moderation-hash=facff63694ebf65a969809243ecfbf36#comment-102844 but apparently not. Very unique rendition, really miss hearing it
Stepper screwed up! He moved to California and played with a local short lived band called "Mongoose". I saw this Steel Pulse lineup in Chicago in '81". The best!
hellobiafra, have you found out the reason? I would like to know too, Stepper`s handwriting was so distinct and so exceptional,.oh gush, his basslines defined the Steel Pulse sound.
The original steel pulse. When reggae was real reggae.

It could also just be that they're simply excellent musicians.
@@salubriousit's because it's for the Luv of Jah🔥
Me too. The Quiet Knight and The Riviera. Moved to SoCal in "82" and lost count of how many times I've seen them. I still preferred the early "Pulse".
@@salubrious- They are excellent musicians for sure and the best I have seen live on stage.

I saw Steel Pulse with Herbie Hancock in the early 80s Steel Pulse smoked Herbie's band and I am a huge jazz fan

I always loved the baselines and drummer. In fact this was one of the best lineups Steel Pulse has ever had.

I love that UP AND DOWN HIGH STEPPING they do on stage. Miss that vocal mix of David Hinds and the other guy playing percussion.

Original Steel Pulse. Again, wishing they would go back to this style or something similar at least
I was lucky to see them with this band lineup on their first Chicago concert in 1981. Saw them twice and this was the best "Steel Pulse".

This is a TV broadcast, so the likelihood is that they played for longer. At the end of the broadcast, it looks they weren’t finished.
