  • The industrialized production of meat products has created numerous health issues problems: it has a separated us from the animals it comes from, it is often inhumanely grown, and it is often filled with chemical additives. This episode explores how the Pit River Tribe in Northeast California are reviving traditional hunting practices, embracing Community Science initiatives to preserve and monitor wild elk and deer populations, and developing statewide intertribal trading networks for the distribution of humanely sourced and sustainable Native foods.

I agree, just respect the seasons and everyone can eat and thrive. Also hunting when done right is one of the most beneficial skills to have as being a competent hunter makes you less of a hostage to fate.

I grew up on the XL and know/knew everyone of those individuals good. 11 bands, 11 cultures, I speak on Hewisedawi culture. I have served on council for going on 18 years. Our actual creation story would take much longer to tell than the film allowed... keep practicing your culture in a good way.

The guy in the blue bandana Ray is full of prunes. This is all fake. I'm a neighbor on the Rez where Ray was run off for talking tuff and then Ray would not back up his mouth. I know who Ray is and definitely can say this is fake bologna. That's the Truth and now You know. This is not vulgar or an attempt to bully, only the facts. Thank You.

Sounds like someone doesn't know ray very well and believes BS rumors. But their opinion don't matter. The XL has always been and always will be Hewisedawi/Kosealektawi Lands!

There's just to many people for us all to be able to hunt and eat🤷 animals are going away because families grow up to have families.... When you hunt for 4 families vs 1 (or even 4 generations) it makes more of a difference in the ecosystem. We are a pack of wolves that live 5-6 times as long as wolves. I love the respect for nature... But we are all parasites
