This is an awesome collaboration. Same lesson my dad taught me. It's not about suppressing your emotions. It's about not letting them take you over. I've been riding horses for a while. Horses are great and not scary.
Reba gets me everything with this song. The way that she comes in is just so full of emotion and so sad and it breaks me everything. Part of what makes her great.

This song reminds me of my mom and her dad. Grandpa was in the Air Force, but the family had started keeping horses while my mom was a kid. The western aesthetic was strong in that house. She was visiting when he died 7 years ago, but she'd stepped out of the room for a minute to get him water for his pills.
They toured together for years.. they're several duets of Brook and Dunn and Reba.
My daughter is a cowgirl and when we both hear this song, it gets us in our feels!

I remember when I was about 4 years old, my dad and uncle put a saddle on a young steer cow we had named Biscuit. They put me on him, and he started bucking.
It made me whiplash my head forward and backwards so hard that my chin was painfully hitting my chest bone. Lol

The girl riding a horse is an actor representing Reba's life. She did ride horses, raised on a ranch, then began barrel-racing and rodeos, and worked very hard doing chores on the ranch. Her and her sisters also did some singing, then Reba was found out, when she sang the Star Spangled Banner at that rodeo. She's only gone up since then.
