  • Today I'm sharing some back story on myself and weather or not I'll be able to continue making videos for all of you. My life is busy and getting busier, but I still love working on projects and sharing them with people, so I hope to keep making some videos. Follow along and see what comes our way in 2024!
Check out my editor's channel: ‪@ljmproductions1‬
    Welcome to Garage Story!
I'm in the business of hunting up old lawn mowers and other small machines, and either parting them out, or fixing them up and selling them for profit. Come along for the ride with my weekly vlogs, and how-to videos.

First let me say, I love your channel. Just a down to earth guy, making a living the honest way. No gimmicks, no clickbait, no fluff. Just good, honest, American content. Great to hear your story also. I fully understand that you have other responsibilities as well, and that adds to the channel appeal. You're not here just pumping out worthless nonsense, trying to get rich. Just a guy supporting his family the right way. That being said, I've been on board since I found your channel and enjoy your videos. I do prefer the small engine stuff though.

I love the fact that you are concerned about family. At your age I was a line mechanic, firefighter and worked on heavy equipment on the side. God comes first and then family. The children grow up way too fast buddy. This would be great family meeting material. God bless and good luck. Enjoy your videos 😊

Hey whatever your name is Ha,ha!.
You have to do what's best for your family which is your main priority!.
Your videos are always awesome and they are number 2 of your priority,.
I feel sort of sad to see you disappear since I feel I'm your biggest fan and a mower mechanic myself, but ya gotta do what you gotta do and look out for you and your family!.
By the way getting into ATV's would be a great investment because there are thousands of people who buy used junky ones and would love to learn on how you fixed one to make it Fun to ride.
    One last request:
It would be nice to let everyone know your first name.
I'm hoping you'll still be making videos as I'm so excited to watch you work on a mower and merge into fixing atv's .
Well good luck from a fan in Florida.

First off, congratulations on your growing family; they are what's most important.
I am currently 'subscribed' to well over 70 channels and yours is the one I look forward to watching the most. I prefer the longer videos on small engine stuff but I would probably watch anything you attempt to repair/dismantle. This is because of your honest delivery and trials/tribulations. I enjoy feeling like I'm along for the ride and not sure where the final destination might end up. Your editor is also fantastic and uses great music and editing to capture your content.
EXCELLENT JOB. And please keep that camera rolling.

Ditto, my friend! You and I have a lot in common and share the same points of view on the time and effort it takes to record and make videos. I look forward to seeing what you do going forward. I wouldn't worry too much about doing different content. I do mowers, cars, trucks, trailers, and off-the-wall shorts. They all do pretty well, and none of them have a negative effect on the channel as long as they are good stand-alone videos. Feel free to reach out if you would like to "talk shop" ;-)
Either way, good luck with everything you do, and god bless you and your family!

@@garagestory It only takes one or two videos to gain a lot of momentum. I was right about where you are two years ago. If you can connect with 4000 subs 10,000 will be easy for you. It tends to start snowballing once you make it to the 4000-5000 subscriber point.

In the beginning I took in all sorts of free equipment. It took me a couple years to realize it was taking up precious space in my garage workshop and suffering the effects of the environment outside. If I was parting out like you are I’d definitely be parting the lower end stuff. I may still do that eventually, which brings me to one request. If you feel like making some detailed videos about the whole parting out process I’d definitely watch them.

So this may be a bit long winded but I'll try to keep it concise. I Subscribed to your channel because I enjoy watching people take something, fix it and resell it. I watch several content creators who do this with trailers, appliances and obviously small engines. I am the GM for a larger small engine repair shop and have over the years treated the same thing you are doing here as a hobby and sometimes to make ends meet. I would say continue doing this if it is something you enjoy doing, but if you are trying to also use it to make money, you have to stick with what puts the most cash in your pocket even if the content seems repetitive. Personally, I will go the extra mile to make sure something is fixed properly or beyond expectations to make sure the buyer is getting a good value but you have to make money too. You can save long form videos for more in depth information for guys like me but most of the general population just need nudges in the right direction and direction on how to obtain the right parts and general trouble shooting. Best of luck and I'd like to shoot you an email if you would like to speak more in depth.

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to say all that. I may need to pick your brain on some projects

  • @Rein_Ciarfella

I prefer the length of video to be as long as necessary to explain a point or tell a story or complete a job. If the job is very long and it’s easier from a production standpoint to cut it into segments, that’s fine. Two 90-minute segments are fine! I have no use for shorts, especially those that introduce an upcoming video. That’s a waste of my precious time because I’m already subbed and getting all notifications.
Frequency of uploads is irrelevant to me - I’d much rather have infrequent videos which are better quality.
I’m only here for small engine work, so I have no interest in home repairs, automotive, etc. I’d prefer those as a separate channel myself.

Keep going man, UA-cam pays off in the long run, especially you living in America. You just need to get past 10k subs. Sponsors can really help.
From watching another channel starting out, having consistency when uploading is key. People are creatures of habit, so I think that helps with UA-cam growth.
Time lapses are good in videos, because it is less work for you to talk to the camera, plus it’s still content. I would like you do a “shop tidy up” or renovation video, in your workshop. Seeing day light through the roof gaps makes me sad lol 😄.

    • @garagestory
      @garagestory  4 місяці тому +1

Thanks for the comments! Yes, the shop needs more work….😬. But that’s time not spent on more typical content. However, it will probably pay off in the long run!

  • @Rein_Ciarfella

I think it’s always good to share the backstory. It gives people some perspective. Understanding someone who is doing small engine work goes a long way towards understanding the channel and your level of knowledge. I like to see individuals introduce themselves by name and sometimes include family or partners because that gives me a more complete picture of the creator.
I feel that any references to politics or religion are inappropriate, and personally unwelcome. I’m here to learn and occasionally share what I’ve learned.
