If you sit a normal distance from your TV the human eye already cannot tell the difference between 4K and 8K. You need to have your eyes close to the display like a monitor to see the extra pixels. So we're already reaching diminishing returns.

I have a Trinitron from 2004. 32in tube. Never getting rid of it. Retro consoles look best on it. Also mich easier to hook them up vs my 65in 4k panel.

cjeam 1440p is hovering around 5%. I agree with you, although I hardly think 1-2% is very popular. Add that in with the rise in popularity in high refresh rate displays rather than hi res displays and I think 10 years is a good time frame.
Thank you for recommending the 18K Airgolds video on a tech channel. The idea of creating something as absurd as 18K gold airpods (not gold plated) came to me when I had the original white plastic airpods in my hand and I imagined the beauty of the curves in shiny gold color. The idea was not to sell them (they are not for sell) or flexing with them (I only use them sometimes on my studio in summer because gold feels so fresh on my ears lol but I prefer Sony WH1000XM3 for obvious reasons).
