In the world of watches where a new dial color is big news this is outstanding innovation. But I can’t help thinking there’s got to be a clock in Versailles which used this kind of indicator.
I actually own a Ciga Design watch. It’s a skeleton watch that looks like the Apple Watch. Never actually worn it out and about but for about £100 it was rude not pick it up. The skeletonisation is better than any Swiss watch under £2k at least.
I like your channel, BTW. I am a watcher collector. I wrote "watch" in my Harvard business essay. Watch has lost (mostly) its original function as "time telling device". It is more like a "personal" object as like your appeal (shoes, jackets), or sunglasses, or jewelry. So, the movement, the deial, the "value" becomes its own way of "attracting" the users. I agree with you, I used to collect, Swiss, German, Japanese watches, and now, some (only some) of Chinese watch, movement, dial and/or designs are getting noticed. I am also starting my own watch brand this year. Yeah. from hobby to passion to "dare to try" as microbrand business.
You should do a follow up video about this watch... When they submitted the entry to GPHG they said it was a 50-pieces limited run. When they sent to youtubers for reviews they told you it was a 360 pieces limited edition... And on day of release, they say "limited stock" but turns out is not limited at all! To make things worse, while they are still delivering the pre-orders, they just announced another edition with improvements on the straps, case and dial. People are fuming on their Facebook page.
Very cool watch. I put my name on the call list for this one. I have CIGA, Z series skeleton, which is very nice, and a great value. The movement is probable a HK PT 5000, or equivalent Chinese clone of the ETA 2824. I have several watches with the PT 5000. Excellent movements, that in my experience, keep time as accurately as it's Swiss cousin. In fact, the PT5000 in my Escapement Time, Conquest homage, keeps better time then most of my Swiss watches with the ETA equivalent (0-2 sec + a day variation on the wrist or in the winder).
Very interesting design, unique but not overdone for the sake of it. Depending on the price this could be a good buy, however the biggest question is the movement: will it be reliable, or at least easily maintained? Or is it going to be a whole ordeal with shipping it back and forth to China every couple of years? I'll say, if this was around 1000 USD it'll be an instant buy. 2000 USD and I'll have to see some concierge promises, perhaps a 5 year warranty, definitely need to see more reviews with macro shots. 3000 USD might be a hard sell considering that's Grand Seiko territory.
When the Rolex Hulk first came out, nobody wanted one. Only time will tell if this piece will become desirable among collectors. In any case, the watch has already made history by winning the GPHG, which is a significant accomplishment in an industry where watch snobs are prevalent.
While I don’t really go for the look of that particular watch, that way that display shows the time could be used for a lot more really cool watch faces!
Good on them for drawing outside the lines. I'm not convinced in the movement. The motion reminds me of the Resonance..talk about a cool watch! Depends on their final pricing.
I own a titanium Z series. It is the only watch I own but I love it. It needs adjusting once a week and that is good enough for me. Most people think I paid a lot more than £250.
''as *maybe* being a little bit more... inferior...' Guy just used two disclaimers to soften the coming blow then follows it up with a round-house kick to the face.
The Swiss used to be the China of Europe - a poor country with cheap labor making low quality knockoffs of reputable watches from France and England. Look at them now!
Dose it alienate half or more of the global landmass?, i know that between India and China is most of the population, but, me living in Mexico, think it is a nice watch but will never buy one, as I am not represented on it... It is still a very interesting watch!
I'd imagine it wears like a seiko tuna. So the lug to lug should not be too bad. love how the dial looks in the light. I like it, maybe the hours and minutes hand could be a little larger? But it's an interesting watch.
Not only do I love the fact that China is producing a winner of the GPHG, but even more, I like the fact a US Based business man is presenting a Chinese company with respect and admiration. Pleasantly the comments also remain without racism.. maybe our world is not lost after all. :-) Great content bud.
If the watch was like 42 mm and you can see the time without a microscoop that would be nice. They should make the north star and the hour and minute numbers a bright color. Always that shity rubber strap :( After all the fuzz about service because offcourse its china i will only buy a watch like this for say 250 euro.
Hi John P, are you interested to have a logo for your channel that's cleverly, functionally and beautifully designed which represent your watches content at a glance to new audience easier and bring a memorable trustworthy branding to your channel where it will be imprinted in your viewer's mind longer and want to come back for more of your passionately made detailed videos! I'm a freelance logo designer based in Malaysia and I hope to have the honour to let me make use of my creativity to design your channel's new logo to bring more audiences and new potentials for you! Let me know if you interested for more details!!!
Great video unlike the watch. I don’t really care for the watch, its too much. I’d rather have the OMEGA world timer, stainless steel with the blue dial that is a beautiful watch. But keep up the good work
The design of the watch concentrates on the form rather than a concept. Why there is the Earth, if none of the functionalities is about GMT or world timing? Why the Earth rotated around the center of the Indian Ocean, not around the pole? I guess just to be able to show China on it. The watch would have been conceptual even if the globe had rotated around Beijing :) I would rather save more money and buy Omega Aqua Terra Worldtimer or, if I was rich enough - Patek Philippe Ref. 5131/1P-001.
Once you said it is from China I lost all interest. Given the horrific Human Rights violations I am doing all I can to avoid Chinese products. The Uyghurs are the reason the US should've boycotted the Olympics. I do wish you and Fed all the best and will continue to watch your content.
Thank you John P for presentation of this outstandind watch. Stay healthy everybody. Greetings from Germany
Thank you! You too!

Thanks, John! This watch really looks effects
Absolutely unique and highly laudable. Thanks for sharing, John .... I will take the first opportunity to add it in my collection
Thank you !
I once heard - if China spent the same money in making replicas into R&D for new watches, Swiss watches would suffer. Well…. here it is
Easy to scoff, but I really like the, more practical, but still interesting Z series. A great value proposition.
Hi John, Mine has just arrived…how many times does your minute ring rotate for the globe to do a full rotation?
It rotates 390 degrees for a full hour, so one complete rotation plus an additional 30 degrees.
It reminds me of the 70s ufo case style. I look forward to gettt8ng one
Very interesting looking watch, but nothing I would ever want to wear. Hope they keep innovating and growing!

I was checking out their website after watching this video I see the watch that your talking about. Pretty interesting
those at least seems more "original!"

You think you have enough "quotations"?
Thanks for a close look at an interesting watch. I was wondering how this tells time - you demonstrated it nicely just past the 15:00 mark.
Great background John P .. congratulations 🍾 on your UA-cam channel
Thank you !

any suggestion on a TPD setting for this watch?

Really like the Z Series plan on adding to my collection!!!👍👍
I've heard of ciga from their xiaomi collaboration watches, the 1st gen imo looks pretty cool

The western hemisphere is missing from the planet... I wonder why..

Can you receive television channels overseas with this satellite dish on your w rist?
I'll say it looks interesting. Whether I'm interested will depend on if it's $600 or $6,000 or ??? Did you mention the price?
I looked up it’s 3500 chf which is 3776 dollars

John, will this watch be on sale at Delray watch 😃

Peru? That would be shocking, China? Not so. Let’s find out…
This watch is far far superior than any Spring Drive. Spring Drive is disappointing especially with their electronic technology.

Five minutes in and still nothing said about the watch itself.
Looks very ikepod ish.
Yes!
I like the idea of it but that’s bout it
why my comments are deliberately DELETED????
It seems to take a bit of inspiration from the Seiko think earth watch.
I already feel like I can't escape buying daily items from China. Im certainly not making a luxury purchase from that country.
