Thank you SO much for uploading this! I would have watched these back in '79 & on the repeats although it was way beyond anything I would have been learning at the time - I was only three when it first aired! However, I was fascinated by both Programmes for Schools & Open University - Mum would sit me in front of it for hours & I'd be happy as a clam. It may come as no surprise that I'm autistic ;) Rewatching is really very comforting - Fergus O'Kelly's reassuring voice, the basic, yet satisfying animation & those repeated musical phrases. Nostalgia overload
@LovelyRuthie you were born in '76 too? I used to watch all of these programmes and the Open University, found the narration comforting and I'm a huge fan of synth music. I'm not autistic myself but you sound exactly like me as a child!
@@zetametallic are you sure you’re not? 😉 I had no idea I was autistic until I hit 40…and I spent 20 years teaching autistic adults & children 😂 whatever, I guess our television options were more limited in the late seventies, eh?
It's by J.S. Bach, the Badinerie from Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067. Finding this piece for myself helped me discover the music of the Baroque period, still a love of mine some 35 years later.
@@jaseinblackI'm sure he meant the programme's theme, which was the Bach I mentioned, but good shout on the interval music - based on Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 for those wondering.

@@LovelyRuthie I have wondered as I have an amazing memory for dates and random information. I too work with children and adults; many with ASD.
What an amazing recording!
best schools archive ever, some gems.
Great uploads ...
Does anyone remember the classical music used as the theme tune?

It's Piano Concerto, by Philarmonics

What does continuity mean?
