I'm really curious what "happiness" means to Toast, and if he's considered just aiming to be satisfied instead. Constant happiness is unattainable, and Toast is right about that. But being content and satisfied with your work, your family, your friends and your life is entirely achievable for any person.
Achievable for any person if life allows* I feel the Toast here...maybe. I will never be happy in this life either...but I can still do stuff. You can't be satisfied with a family that dies from cancer, covid, and a bunch of other stuff all in 3 years unless you're a psychopath...or with all but 1 of your friends that distance themselves from you because you're grieving too much or the one best friend because who the fuck knows, just stopped replying...or with a job that got 3x harder with 1.2x the pay and 0.1x the autonomy after acquisition but you can't leave because the couple remaining family have hospital bills and need help with things weekly and you're in a town of 2500 so there is no better job available. Positivity for the sake of positivity is flattery - a lie - and does nobody any good. Guess I could go build a robot family. To the university! Oh wait, money...
@@medigoomnis I don't entirely agree but I understand the sentiment. Some people face a lot more hardship than others and everyone copes with that in different ways. I feel terrible hearing how Toast and Boxbox feel as though they are stuck, knowing they have the money to do more. Almost like selling your soul for success, these streamers are losing themselves in the pursuit of fame.

Having money is the point. The point is that people like Albert or Toast could easily cut back on the streaming to fewer days in the week and explore other hobbies, hobbies which are easy to afford when you have the money and not worry about how you can support yourself, support a family, support your loved ones, etc. And if things don't work out, they can pick up on streaming again till they can find new stuff to do. Just having tons of money in the bank won't give you happiness, but it'll give you the power to explore more aspects of life. Especially as opposed to people who do blue collar jobs that suck up your time and energy for low pay and low job security. Even people with white collar jobs are often in dead end positions that suck up their time and energy, making it hard to build up a personal/family life while also having to consistently gain new skills in order to build up their careers up to a point where they might be able to earn a 10th of what a successful streamer makes in a year.
