no , it was cut from the vanilla game because they had a deadline they couldnt push back so they had to cut a lot of content in order to release the game on time .. most of the content is still hidden in the game files tho .. there's a wiki for all the cut stuff if you wanna go take a look

Because of time constraints, the second half of the game (everything after Anor Londo) was rushed. If it wasn't rushed, the game would have probaly had this storyline, the Oscar storyline and things like Bed of Chaos would have been way better.

JSPumpkinKing TBH, this stuff is made BECAUSE the game doesn't tell you anything about the lore. it literally is you, as both a player and a dungeon master. it thrives on giving you a story that you fill in the blanks with your own imagination. its like it combines all sorts of different aspects of gaming, even from stuff like in the days of the Atari 2600, where all you had were squares which you had ti imagine were bombs, characters and items. I applaud a game like this for allowing us to make up our own lore and stories by giving us so little.
That's true but, even so I still want some content like this in the Game because of Specific reasons. Like for example: I need this Story in the Game because it's cool, and also because (SPOILER) I need a good reason to Kill Shiva and Get that damn cool IRS. Don't get me wrong, I like Shiva, but still I'd be better if he also did betray us to make a better plot twist too.
When watching these things, it makes me feel like I'm watching a Creepypasta. I always feel the sadness, or the sense of something crawling up my spine when I listen to one of these stories. These are great stories of lore, VaatiVidya. I hope there are still more to watch. ~A

***** Because there already too many links/repeats of Demon's Souls in Dark souls. In Demon's souls, there is an eastern character named Satsuki (or something to that effect) who asks the player to retrieve his "family heritage", a samurai sword which is called... the Makoto. After you get it, you can decide to give it to him, or not. Refusing to do so would make him attack you, trying to obtain it, whist "returning it" makes him decide to "test the blade" on you, leaving him attacking you again. Did I mention that both have the same effect (health drain)? Thats not all! Patches is there, and he pushes you down a dark hole if you say you are a cleric. And it happens on an Island where people who worshipped the dead have been killed off, and their skeletons have been animated (hint hint) Then to get to a part of a level (Tower of Latria), 2-3 gargoyle creatures pick you up and take you to a higher level in the tower And there is the Maneater boss- Harder original version of the Bell Gargoyles with one joining in half way in the fight, but harder due to limited platform space, faster attack speed, a rage buff and the second guy comes with full health. There more- Asylum Demon/Vanguard at beginning, Leeroy and Garl Vinland, Oscar of Astora and Ostrava of Boletaria, The Crestfallen Warrior and many more Dark Souls references/rips off its predecessor in the best way possible (I love them both). But seeing as how Dark Souls was the game that popularised the souls franchise to the level that it is now, its not surprising that people don't see the connections between the two. However, its nice when they do something different, such as Lautrec and O&S, and I do overall prefer Dark Soul's bosses (though I do like the Demon's Souls settings much more, and that its slower paced). Really looking forward to DS2 though :D Hope I didn't come off as a dick (I didn't mean to)!
Not at all, you didn't seem like a dick in the slightest. I've played through demon's souls plenty of times as well so I'm aware that they were trying to make a new game as similar as demons souls yet still distinctly different at the same time. And yeah man, I can't wait to see how they expand on the lore, mainly the sun bros, in DS2
I think it's wrong to hate on him, he's making content that makes a lot of people happy. I'm sure he never expected to get this popular. However, I do disagree with the extent to which some people support him - especially those who go out of their way to attack others for having an opinion on whether his content is good or not.
The series really should have made more of the black eye orb invasion mechanic. Invading Lautrec's world felt like you were avenging someone who'd not yet even spoken to the player. With so little depth established, the invasion feels cold and utilitarian. The Crushed Eye Orb in Dark Souls II is even more barren of plot, in that Licia's most direct transgression against the player is simply being a charlatan.
Well Lautrec pretty much makes the main hub world a lot less useful, and besides, the lady keeps the bonfire going, so who wouldn't be grateful to her? she heals you and gives you the estus you need to be able to continue on your journey.
actually there is quite a bit of lore attached to the crushed eye orb with licia in dark souls 2 but i wont say anything for fear of spoiling it for some except that (SPOILER) shes the one who constantly invades you with the dual daggers, Nameless Usurper i think was the invaders name.

Well done! I see how you used the depth of the lore to create an ominous tone for the ending. Your last line really put into perspective how Shiva is neither the first nor the last owner of this demonic blade. I also enjoyed how you were able to relate the setting of displacement, to that of solitude(or should I say banishment). You sir, know how to tell a story.
That is the problem with Samurai(s). To them a good sword is everything to them, or they are nothing.(at least what history has told us) To a true warrior, a sword is a mere tool. Sure you enemy has a better sword, but who is swinging it matters the most.
you misunderstend, a good sword isn't really EVERITHING to them, the samurais trained all their lifes to be the perfect warriors, they trained until there was no flaw on their technic, and then trained more so that they'd keep in shape, perfection was everything to them, that's why the perfect blade was also so important
I never felt the morose and melancholy nature of this game so much until I came across this series you do, Vidya. Your voice and time you take to create such a consistent and engrossing tapestry is extremely engrossing.

+The Taken King all HIS chaos blade content is cut from the game, but the sword the made from the soul of Quellag, and it's pretty sweet for a dex build
Theory: the story of the Makoto is true, but the reason it has to be forged from Quelag’s soul is because somebody who wielded the Makoto tried to defeat her and failed, but instead of just taking said warriors humanity and leaving she decided to keep the Makoto and use it as her own, but over time it combined with Quelag and became the weapon she wields during her boss battle
incorrect, she weilds the quelaag furysword and fire whip pyromancy. However, it stands to reason that the original chaos blade was forged with the chaos flame, and the soul of a daughter of chaos could forge a new one, given a skilled enough blacksmith versed in soul weapons.

JSPumpkinKing TBH, this stuff is made BECAUSE the game doesn't tell you anything about the lore. it literally is you, as both a player and a dungeon master. it thrives on giving you a story that you fill in the blanks with your own imagination. its like it combines all sorts of different aspects of gaming, even from stuff like in the days of the Atari 2600, where all you had were squares which you had ti imagine were bombs, characters and items. I applaud a game like this for allowing us to make up our own lore and stories by giving us so little.
That's true but, even so I still want some content like this in the Game because of Specific reasons.

Don't get me wrong, I like Shiva, but still I'd be better if he also did betray us to make a better plot twist too.

it was all unused content that this guy just activated to show us. That doesn't mean this video is bogus, all of this stuff is still true to the lore, they just didn't put it in the game for some silly reason
***** Because there already too many links/repeats of Demon's Souls in Dark souls.
In Demon's souls, there is an eastern character named Satsuki (or something to that effect) who asks the player to retrieve his "family heritage", a samurai sword which is called... the Makoto. After you get it, you can decide to give it to him, or not. Refusing to do so would make him attack you, trying to obtain it, whist "returning it" makes him decide to "test the blade" on you, leaving him attacking you again. Did I mention that both have the same effect (health drain)?
Thats not all!
Patches is there, and he pushes you down a dark hole if you say you are a cleric. And it happens on an Island where people who worshipped the dead have been killed off, and their skeletons have been animated (hint hint)
Then to get to a part of a level (Tower of Latria), 2-3 gargoyle creatures pick you up and take you to a higher level in the tower
And there is the Maneater boss- Harder original version of the Bell Gargoyles with one joining in half way in the fight, but harder due to limited platform space, faster attack speed, a rage buff and the second guy comes with full health.
There more- Asylum Demon/Vanguard at beginning, Leeroy and Garl Vinland, Oscar of Astora and Ostrava of Boletaria, The Crestfallen Warrior and many more
Dark Souls references/rips off its predecessor in the best way possible (I love them both). But seeing as how Dark Souls was the game that popularised the souls franchise to the level that it is now, its not surprising that people don't see the connections between the two.
However, its nice when they do something different, such as Lautrec and O&S, and I do overall prefer Dark Soul's bosses (though I do like the Demon's Souls settings much more, and that its slower paced). Really looking forward to DS2 though :D

I've played through demon's souls plenty of times as well so I'm aware that they were trying to make a new game as similar as demons souls yet still distinctly different at the same time. And yeah man, I can't wait to see how they expand on the lore, mainly the sun bros, in DS2

I think it's wrong to hate on him, he's making content that makes a lot of people happy. I'm sure he never expected to get this popular. However, I do disagree with the extent to which some people support him - especially those who go out of their way to attack others for having an opinion on whether his content is good or not.
The series really should have made more of the black eye orb invasion mechanic. Invading Lautrec's world felt like you were avenging someone who'd not yet even spoken to the player. With so little depth established, the invasion feels cold and utilitarian. The Crushed Eye Orb in Dark Souls II is even more barren of plot, in that Licia's most direct transgression against the player is simply being a charlatan.
Well Lautrec pretty much makes the main hub world a lot less useful, and besides, the lady keeps the bonfire going, so who wouldn't be grateful to her? she heals you and gives you the estus you need to be able to continue on your journey.
actually there is quite a bit of lore attached to the crushed eye orb with licia in dark souls 2 but i wont say anything for fear of spoiling it for some except that (SPOILER) shes the one who constantly invades you with the dual daggers, Nameless Usurper i think was the invaders name.

Well done! I see how you used the depth of the lore to create an ominous tone for the ending. Your last line really put into perspective how Shiva is neither the first nor the last owner of this demonic blade. I also enjoyed how you were able to relate the setting of displacement, to that of solitude(or should I say banishment). You sir, know how to tell a story.

you misunderstend, a good sword isn't really EVERITHING to them, the samurais trained all their lifes to be the perfect warriors, they trained until there was no flaw on their technic, and then trained more so that they'd keep in shape, perfection was everything to them, that's why the perfect blade was also so important

Theory: the story of the Makoto is true, but the reason it has to be forged from Quelag’s soul is because somebody who wielded the Makoto tried to defeat her and failed, but instead of just taking said warriors humanity and leaving she decided to keep the Makoto and use it as her own, but over time it combined with Quelag and became the weapon she wields during her boss battle
incorrect, she weilds the quelaag furysword and fire whip pyromancy.
However, it stands to reason that the original chaos blade was forged with the chaos flame, and the soul of a daughter of chaos could forge a new one, given a skilled enough blacksmith versed in soul weapons.
