If MicroCenter had the North in stock when I bought a new case last month, I probably would have bought one. Wound up with an o11e flow mini or whatever the word salad is.
This is the first case I've ever seen that makes me want to rebuild my system. I never thought I'd see a case that would make me want to go through that--good work Fractal.
I'm running this case with a 280mm Arctic Liquid Freezer II in the fan bracket thanks to your previous video. Works like a charm. I did add 2 140mm top fans air and 1 120mm rear fan (mounted on the outside or it wouldn't fit) to extract hot air. Motherboard temps are good too, all temps are really good and it fits together with a chunky 4090. Awesome!
yeah, I want the LiveMixer too, it was around 205€ for a week or so, sadly now it went back up to 235€... Not sure why the board prices went back up in price instead of going down
The Mixer's expansion card sounded like a dream come true for most people who might want an upgrade down the line but without needing to replace the entire board for a time.
I would like to see some RAM speed test when testing 8-12-16 cores as everyone seem to ignore this aspect completely and only takes a minute (memory controller speed) Same goes for testing 2x M.2 running in parallel during benchmarks and see how CPUs handle the multitask of storage devices.
Mx-5 has been discontinued for a while, they had serious separation issues… they replaced with mx-6, an excellent paste, performs better than mx-5, but I don’t like its viscosity compared to mx-5 and it’s also way pricier. Very sad, mx-5 was also my personal favourite….. Consider the tx13 paste from Streacom. Eco packaged, very good performer, reasonable price point 👍
If they actually made a full tower size I would love to buy it. I'm not willing to stuff $3,000 worth of stuff in that tiny thing and make compromises due to the case. So, I'm waiting for a Phanteks NV7 which is also beautiful, just in a different way.
The fan bracket allows you to sidemount a 280mm radiator and still fit a giant GPU like a 4090. It's super efficient use of space and it looks nice too, it's great.
@@Jajalaatmaar You can't mount certain third party GPUs. As was said in the original North video - if only the case were 5mm longer, compatibility would be no issue at all.

Curious what’s up with Fractal and product availability lately. They’ve got a few cases and cooling parts that have been consistently hard to acquire in the US, at least. Excellent video as always though.
here in Spain the only North available are 180€+. It's only this specific case, GN has confirmed, Fractal had incredible success and supply is not enough

Not really. PCIe 4 isn’t really relevant outside of the top end GPUs, and even then it’s a very minor bump. By the time 4 is relevant, the early PCIe 5 capable CPUs will be irrelevant.

Offset mounting was proven to be negligible and considered margin of error. Its why no one (meaning other brands) is doing it. The whole point of a heat spreader is to soak up heat and transfer it to a larger surface area to increase cooling. Direct die still works for Intel because the chip is freaking huge. AMD's smaller chiplets wont benefit from direct die. IN FACT The de8auer video is null and void because he started the video testing the cpu normally but with shit thermal paste. Then after delidding tested direct die using liquid metal. Scientifically speaking you CANNOT change thermal compound when testing. Either use paste both times or liquid metal both times. The sheer fact that he switched completely invalidates his thermal difference. DOUBLING DOWN, I would dare say he was duplicitous on purpose.... there is no logical reason to change from horrible quality paste to liquid metal because that alone would result in widely different temps. It was pointed out by people online that their 7000 series cpu with liquid metal on the IHS achieved the SAME temps he claimed to get with direct die, which that alone invalidates his testing even further. So the idea of offset mounting? useless. And even direct die being useless for AMD as proven by countless people online. End of the day? I want ASUS to make their AP201 case but full size, with E-ATX support. And then make it a cube case, where the backside will have a full array of 3.5 HDD storage in the front and psu mounting in the rear (maybe dual pcu for those that want/need it). we really need smarter case designs. I would actually love a case where the motherboard lays flat like old-school computers. Back in the day style lmao. I have like 3 case designs in my head but I am no engineer and can't use modeling software for shit.
