Great video info Kirk thanks also I found something to extend cement all , it's called Set Control one packet will extend your working time by 15 minutes.
Evening Aikiyoshin, cool suit my brother, when we buy Eisenwall at the plastering yards such as "Westside building materials," they do include the set control retardants with every bag of Einsenwall. Often we have no choice but to add a pack and sometimes two, often that just takes the fun out of Hustling.🤔
Very informative as usual Kirk, I never noticed the psi strength on the rapid set but know it’s a good product. Now I’ll buy more as I have something needing repair here.
It’s obvious how close you and your wife are, you’re a very fortunate couple.
Greetings Clint, thank you, yes, we are fortunate.

Good vid. I use the Rapid set Cement All, Mortar Mix and Stucco Patch all the time on a variety of repairs. While it does set fast, the ability to walk on it, paint it or drive on it within a couple of hours is a huge benefit. The only downside using the Rapid set products is that you have to clean your mixing containers and trowels shortly after using the product. If you let it sit until the end of the day it will be as hard as a rock and very difficult to clean.
Happy New Year Legal Dude, no doubt.

It's called "Rapidset" for reason. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. It does not wait nor play. I've used it quite a bit and am getting the hang of it. I appreciate your sharing your wisdom and experience.
Look for the flow control and the set control packets that are nearby. They will increase your time dramatically even in the warm south! However, keep in mind that if you are doing anything vertical...these products make gravity a real job killer lol it will FLOW right back down the wall.
No problemo.

I used the mortar mix to fix the contoured window stucco that fell off my old stucco house, it blended great mostly because it was a basement window, hardened quickly and I painted it in an hour, stuff works great.

Hey Kirk.
I think your missing the best benifets of the rapid set materials.
Although the mortar mix can be used up to 6" thick its key in my daily tasks. I mix the motar mix 50/50 with a typical scratch and brown whenever I need base coat to set up quickly.
A 25 year stucco artesian myself who is the sole income to his family of nine ei get the need and benifet of not needing 2 trips or more to patch in say a window or door. When using that rapid set mixed with a typical scratch and brown I'm able to fill in and depth of of repair on a wall. As you've seen when a framer fills in a window or door your left with nearly an inch of depth needed to fill to flush with surrounding materials. Especially when the framer sheets the repair with a less than as thick as used originally on an older home.
The minimal if non existant of shrinkage when using rapid set has me start to finish texture and all on any depth repair in just an hour on a smaller window or 2 hours on say a door. Mixing more than 50/50 isn't needed in fact a 40ish/60 rapid set scratch and brown mix is plenty adequate.
How about it's a saturday morning and u need to match a medium rilled synthetic texture finish repair on a home or building. Cant get the texture till monday when supply house is open right.. well you can use that mortar mix for your texture mix in color and all. I use a stucco/brick paint from home depot and use that paint instead of water in my quick set mortar mix and once your good with paint colors and how they change a bit when mixed in this way u will actually have a texture material that's near exactly the same as a typical synthetic texture. Although unless you screen out the aggregate you'll only be able to match the most popular or synthetic texture material the medium rilled as it's called here in MN where I am but as said prior u can screen out the aggregate for a match near right on to a medium texture.
Once mixed the paint/motor mix looks works and smells the same as the synthetic textures I buy from like a STO or other big name provider.
I pour custom chimney caps and I'm able to have a 1.5" over hang on all sides as a good chimney cap will and pull forms within an hour or even sooner.
Another HUGE benifet to using the mortar mix is you ca nnm go over brick, block or poured wall without the use of any metal lath and even if painted any of those materials cover in one coat without any shrinkage allowing me to go up on a roof and pour a new chimney cap and give the body of the dilapidated chimney a new stucco look in one one coat one trip making output in the 8 months we have here as productive as possible.
Ast there is the option of using the additive made for the rapid set family of materials that will slow that set time down to hours instead of minutes cuz what u said is true 15 min is not a long time. And the typical old u cant put cement over cement and expect them to bend ways are over because this stuff sticks and bonds to any cementous material like no other.
I hope this comment makes anyone who's reading it dig into these new products that have started to and surely will ultimately become a daily use product giving us in the industry a leg up like no other has done in last 100 years.
I could go on and on from lath based boulders sprayed with this mix of material changing poolside landscape and much much more. Or the stick on stenciling over a pool deck sprayed with this mortar mix in color when mixed with paint over water then quickly trolled over and peel of stencil for a quick morning's work giving a new look to old cement even asphalt yes asphalt this stuff literally bonds to anything and not just for a few years.
God bless and keep on making the world a bit better to look at every day..

I usually go with the 50lb bags. I use that product often. I do have a very serious question to ask you off topic. I do a lot of finish work around window replacements on houses in Texas with limestone veneer. I usually mix Alamo cement with play sand. I take care to match the color of the existing joints but I worry that the cement will eventually shrink and separate from the window frame. Do you have any experience with that?
Good Evening Chris, the Rapid Set Cement All is concrete, it does not shrink, however, the wood trim can and will it not cured.
If you are trying to match finishes you can use the Rapid set stucco patch, however, this has heavy sand which in the trades we call it 16/20.
You can also use finish sand to match many finishes or if it's a heavy finish the rapid set will match with proper floating with a sponge float.
If it's a fine texture, you would have to wait longer for the stucco patch by the Rapid set to harden and use a light hand to match smoother sand grit finishes.
Rules to remember it the cement stucco is wet more sand will be brought to the surface with a green sponge float, if you understand your cement plaster and allow it to set longer thus harder, less sand will be brought to the surface with a green sponge float.

Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. I’d have to show you a picture to describe this scenario in detail. Most of the widows are composite and or metal cladding. I’m basically matching the existing but I know eventually the mortar will separate from the window frame. I’ve had to remove miles of clear caulk someone years ago used to try to rectify this situation. I love your videos and if this not something you’re familiar with I appreciate the response all the same.

I saw a video where right after the guy patched the cement, he painted the patch with mud so it would give it an older look like the existing cement, he said it was an old trick his dad used to do, I wonder if that would work with what you're using
LOL, if you paint stucco without it curing, the paint will blister off quickly, as the stucco's Ph level would be too high.
Only two products can be painted after only waiting an hour or two for the Ph level to drop, the one I'm using and rapid set stucco.
Kirk giordano Plastering inc.
Yeah paint it with watered down mud no problem Kirk thinks you said paint like regular paint🤣
Question... I'm doing a patch on a pool deck that's already been textured and painted improperly and I need to float it and texture it. (I've already ground down the hack job) What products should I use to ensure proper bonding and durability?
Good evening Wes, I would recommend Stucco-flex or Dry-vit, note these quality finishes are used for walls, In some areas the heat is so intense they may not work that well.
Your biggest concern is making certain your ground is as clean as possible. That means pressure washing with at least 3500 PSI strength, this much strength almost micro scores the old so that the new can attache permanently.

Kirk Giordano’s professional plastering advice
Hi thank you for all your excellent videos & taking your time to make us the videos.
i have a question please. So I have made a lean to shed using thin mdf board panel as my walls. What I did was I use the nailer gun and stapled the board onto the 2x4s all around. It’s been over 2 years now and it’s starting to come off like the stamped nails are coming off the 2x4 and there are gaps between the vertical boards that are attached side by side. My problem is that I can’t get myself to the back of the boards to staple or mail it onto the 2x4s.
So I will have to go inside the shed and try to somehow pull the boards inward and use long nails to attach from the inside instead.
Now my question is…if I was to use cement all fast setting and put at between the gaps between the two attached boards, will it bond and hold up? I was thinking about the fabric concrete and staple ins it onto the boards and 2x4s hoping it will bond.
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Sorry my friend, but it sounds to me like rain or moisture may be hitting the wood under whatever waterproof membrane you used.🤔
Whats it sitting on? What about thevroof? As long as the wood is getting wet moisture it Will eventually rot & attract termites if youre in the south.. im afraid you have to start over

Kirk I used cement Al on resurfacing my front sidewalks it turned out ok it fixed broken corners ok but I had a little trouble with the sand in it kept coming to top of mix did I not mix it long enough? Thanks for down to earth videos
Morning Larry, like all cement or cement stucco the water will float to the surface, patient and a steel trowel are the way to push the sand down under the top surface.
Too much water, try removing the top layer with a sponge float or allowing time for this water to evaporate, then trowel tight, the sand will become embedded,
Like everything, it just takes a bit of practice.
Cheers!

Kirk what can I do when the paper backing on my stucco wall is deteriorating the top is fine were talking about 2' to 3' in some areas can that be waterproof from the back of my wall's ?
Good Morning Mario, unfortunately, there is no magic bullet, stucco cannot be corrected form the inside.
There are two way's to correct this issue that I'm aware of when the paper is deteriorated, the first is proper and bit costly, but permanent.
Remove all the exterior stucco and add new two-ply Jumbo Tex, 60-minute paper and re-stucco.
The second is easier but only last a few years, possibly allowing the problems to escalate, and allowing mold spores to increase and poisoning an entire family.
This is to use the best paint you can find and seal the exterior surface as best as possible.

I’m really liking the stucco patch by rapid set. I’ve used it on a few projects now. What is your take on it? Is there another product with the same 16-20 grit sand that you like? What patch product has a longer set time?
Howdy Kane's, yes there is another product which I use regularly it's also made by Rapid Set, it's called Eisenwall, we buy the sand separately and often use retardants as it sets fast.
This product is not sold at any hardware stores but instead at professional Plastering yards.
FYI, no matter the sand git preferred with practice and a green sponge float, we can give any wall a super heavy sand finish of a fine sand finish, it's all in the amount of water on our float combined when the wall is set or still freshly applied.

The cracks just to the left of your repair remind me of my little old garage ( 8' x 20' ) built in 1924 that has a concrete floor that has cracks like that up to about 1" vertical and maybe as much as 1.5" horizontal displacement, mini canyons. That floor is a pain in the neck, and I was wondering if using something like this makes sense to smooth it out ... or is "float" the correct term. Some of the cracks I hqve filled below the surface with silicone sealer, and it does look better, but the surface is far from flat. Since there is a bound of the 2x4's, old 2x4's, what would be the long-term prognosis for using this stuff to cover the full surface of the inside, covering and filling as many cracks as I can, and then trying to float the surface to as flat as I can. Would I see small new cracks over time or would it look even worse and break apart completely near the cracks?
As always thanks for all the interesting and informative videos.

The main issue of applying concrete over concrete is it doesn't adhere forever, especially with normal ground movement.
I would mix Polybond with some sand for the thick areas then skim with La Habra's Polybond.
FYI, Polybond is not designed for this purpose. However, it's an incredibly strong adhesive cement plaster.
It has to be to adhere styrofoam to buildings forever.
I did a video on its strength a while ago over my driveway.

@@StuccoPlastering Thanks, you live long and plaster as well!
Ok I am getting into a new hobby. I have been trying out cements for flower pots and thinking about making lg bowls for my garden as well. how would cement all work for this? or would something else work better? I have tried a couple of quickrete products and white cement , but cure time is awful. Have any ideas for me
Hello Sweetie, excellent question, let me think, said the wise old owl? "me."
Okay, here's my opinion, you should NOT spin your wheels, trying to re-invent the wheel.💃🏻🥂
(Terra-cotta pots are made from baked clay. The porous nature of this earth-based medium allows air and water to pass through the walls of the pot; this promotes healthy plants by staving off root rot and disease caused by overwatering. However, this can also cause the soil to dry out quickly, which means more watering.)
Let's look at all plasters. If you use fast-setting plaster as in "plaster of Paris," it will set fast as that's what doctors use for setting bones. Plaster of pairs is great for casts but can't get wet; Ops, defiantly not for pots for gardening.🤔
Now let's take all the cement or stucco's available the "Cement all" and or "Rapid set stucco,' are what I'd suggest. Unfortunately, they do set fast, but on a machine that spins, this will create extra mixing time, which weakens even these quick-setting super-strong types of cement and stuccoes too.
How weak would these pots be if the products mentioned were used?
They would be too weak to even hold dirt.
Sorry, don't mean to rain on anyone's parade.🤔
How would you raise a shower floor center drain? What could l use and can l put something like S4?
Howdy Robert, sorry brother I specialize in stucco repairs and not shower floors.🍾
Hey kirk are you making a video of you spreading the acrylic finish on everything?
Good morning Gilberto, I have applied every acrylic stucco ever made onto homes, the ones I prefer are Dry-Vit, Stucco-Flex, BMI, and Carsons, the ones that are pure garbage, I don't mention as we keep it positive on this rated G channel.
Cheers!

Can this method/product be used as a resurfacer? For a car port area
I would not choose it for that reason.
If you're going to resurface a carport the most difficult thing to do is pressure wash all the grease and oil off as nothing adheres to that stuff, nothing.
You would need a product that is an adhesive cementitious finish, Like some of the other rapid set products.😉
I want to do knock down texture on the floor what can I use off the shelf from home depot
Evening Arlene, if you're talking about an outside where you have a swimming pool, I would suggest an acrylic stucco such as stucco-flex Dry-Vit or Carson's, BMI, etc.
If you're referring to the inside of your house, use tile as you can clean tile easily.
Any and all cementitious products you will not be able to clean, say if you drop an egg on it instead it will absorb into the cement then mold.
Peace, love with happiness to all.

Would Cement All be the best option to resurface old concrete steps?
Howdy Blumnt dude, this depends on the ability to adhere, Cement or cement plastering products or even primers and paints no matter how good, must first have prep work completed accurately to accept any product to adhere for a lifetime.
This prepping ability takes far longer to learn and really understand that learning how to apply any material.
FYI, no product will adhere to dust, dirt or grime let alone soft deteriorated stucco or concrete, for long.
Peace love and happiness to all.

I've used the CementAll on steps and it works well. Feathers better than their MortarMix....Had to paint the patch work areas with Portland to color match closer to the old surfaces though...CementAll cures a lot lighter than I like.

Kirk, are you surprised these product don't call for a bonding agent?
Howdy Cement all is for filling holes not really for adhering to surfaces, so no, I'm not surprised. Cheers.🕵🏼

Hey Kirk I’ve used this product multiple times, sometimes it works awesome. But sometime in a few hours there’s tons of cracks, SOOOO annoying. Any idea what it could be ? Have you experienced it ?
Hi Dan, excellenta question, Of course I know what causes that, overmixing, no more than 3 to 5 minutes max. Mix longer than that it weakens it, thus cracks.
Thank you Kirk Happy new year
Are you keeping the surface wet/moist for an hour after setting?
Kirk, thank you for sharing your videos, I love them.
I have a question. I have a 10 years old brick house. The exterior wall in the driveway is finished with colored stucco. There is a up to 1 inch gap at the bottom of the stucco along the driveway concrete. (Stucco shrinking? Driveway sinking? No visible cracks in the driveway). Anyway, which product should I use to fix it? Cement? Stucco? Base? Finish? Both? If you point me in the right direction, I don't mind to get dirty :)
Howdy Lesio, this is the ground settling, it's normal, Id leave it alone, personally.
Or if you don't like it apply caulking as when the earth continues to settle the caulking will expand with it.
Don't use any types of cement or plasters as the first rain when the home lifts then settle, the mortars will crack. Yes, the rain lifts even homes, and no this can't be seen or measured, but noticed after winter by seeing cracks in new concrete and of stucco homes.

The crack/ opening doesn't expose anything to rain water? What I mean, should I worry and try to seal it with silicon or leave it because it will always get moist no matter how well we try to seal it?
@@lesio333 Good evening Lesio, caulk it with Mor-flex caulking, clean it very thoroughly first.
Most caulking doesn't fill gaps this big, so once dry, you may have to caulk it again as it could sink or be sucked in, this is no big deal, It will now keep water out, and flex with the seasons.

Im a real fan of rock breaking out the driveway and replacing it...too many cracks for my liking. Of course, i am biased, I have an excavator and rock breaker just for such a task ^_^
Good Evening Adam, sounds like you have a great business.
I am going to show the completion of this video when it stops raining, the cracks will be long gone, will they come back?
Of course when the roots that lifted this area rot and decay, the concrete will drop back, plus when my 7 ton truck backs up to my garage door and the forklift that bring my bundles of wire drive on it, does this keep me up at night, no way my friend, I have other issues that trump this lowly concern.

So here’s your chance to save a marriage. My husband and I poured a very large front porch and did a washed aggregate finish. It hardened faster than anticipated but my husband insisted on pushing a joint Grover through. I wanted to wait and saw cut it later. Long story short he wishes he would have listened now as it looks tore up along the joints. I feel like I could save the job by adding another coat of cement over problems and tooling it to look like a couple of rows of brick. What material would work for this? Any suggestions?

You can drive on stucco?
Good afternoon Ronyon, as a rule, the acrylic I am going to apply over this driveway is designed to be used to exterior walls.
However, I have used acrylic membranes for stairs, and driveways for well over 30 years with extremely positive results.

So it's a waterproof barrier?
Also just to be clear ,you use acrylic stucco as a coating here, is it normally just the last coat on a stucco wall, or is it used from the lathe out?
Love your Videos but concrete stuff is more interesting than stucco😆

Kirk your driveway looks like it survived a few earthquakes .
Morning Arfabiscuit, this driveway has been through 1906 and 1989 and quite a few other earthquakes, they did little damage to the fact that my 7-ton truck and forklifts go over it often, plus a runaway tree that had roots like a redwood tree, redwoods roots grow horizontally next to the surface.
All these issues are no worries as it just a driveway, I can care less if it was in chunks as long as it can be driven over, all this said, when my son returns from holiday as he is also the cameraman I will show how to make it look as it was poured yesterday and have the integrity of strength as when it was poured.
This is so easy, with a knowledge of cementitious adhesive materials and a working knowledge of how to use them.
Best wishes
