    Would you take the NX over the Acura RDX? What else are you cross-shopping?

    Wife has a 350h premium and it is absolutely perfect for what we need. 40-50 mpg around town. If we need something bigger and thirstier, we can take my 4runner

    Comprehensive review of NX 350H 2024 model year. The one i lease doesn't have the same interior look as the car in the video. Mine doesn't have the premium package so the dashboard looks different. I didn't see you showing the eyeglass holder on the roof near the interior light controls. This is my first hybrid. I thought the gas gauge was broken since it didn't move after I drove about a hundred miles. I called the dealer and of course it was not broken the car just gets incredibly good gas mileage, around 40 MPG +/-😀

    Very detailed review. Did you feel the run-flat tires still gave a comfortable ride? You did a lot of homework, and it shows! Happy New Year!

      I have had run flat tires on vehicles and will not have them again. They are noisy and harsh riding and they are alos heavy which increases unsprung weight which is bad for performance. If a donut spare won't fit I would still ditch the run flats for a flat tire inflation kit and a CAA membership once the road side assistance term is over.

    Excellent review. I have not seen any info on how it does with ice/snowy conditions. Any info appreciated!

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I didn't really drive it in the snow, but I imagine it would fare just fine with the right tires. Honestly, that's going to be the biggest difference maker in the ice/snow is the tires rather than the car itself.

    Purchased one last year - Premium Hybrid, with the Mark Levinson Stereo, what a mistake, the stereo blows out and either loses almost all bass or totally shuts off when turned above 53. Promised a new amp, but nothing yet

      Oof sorry to hear that! I've always enjoyed the ML stereo. Hopefully the new amp fixes it...

    I went for a top spec CX5 turbo. Lexus is better build quality but the steering wheel controls, gloss black around the instrument cluster, no spare wheel, CVT where all issues for me.
    A few owners and reviewers have pointed out the regenerative braking issues. They question why it is that many Toyota hybrids get it right yet the Lexus, at least the NX, isn’t as well refined. Maybe future models will be improved.

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I really don't understand all the gloss black and the haptics. Those are frustrating to see in a luxury vehicle. I did later realize, after driving the RX, that the braking issue was because of the Proactive Drive Assist feature and can be turned off. It's a strange feature though. Congrats on the CX-5! Mazda makes some great stuff!

    • @dj3114
      @dj3114 6 місяців тому +3

      The Mazda is certainly nice, but Hybrids don't have a CVT in the normal manner of pulleys and a belt or chain. They (and Toyota) have pinion gears and for decades they have been bullet proof for the full life of the car no matter how many 100ks it ends up with..

      I was told by the Lexus dealer that as long as your engine is not a turbo, Premium is recommended, but not required.

    A few years ago, they introduced unattractive front grille. Now they have run flat tires. Is someone within Lexus going mad?

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  8 місяців тому +2

      It's the BMW model! Bad front grilles and run-flat tires ;) The run-flats and hocking the spare for a fix-a-flat kit are an unfortunate trend in the industry. I understand the trend, and the run-flats still ride surprisingly well, but it would definitely be nice to be able to option different tires and a spare instead.

    capacitive touch on the steering wheel and HVAC on the infotainment screen are a no go for me. Like the car, wanted to consider one, but will take a hard pass because of those 2 bad decisions by Toyota. There is nothing easier to use and more reliable than knobs and switches for the HVAC.

    • @GearboxCarReviews
      @GearboxCarReviews  6 місяців тому +1

      I get that for sure. They did leave the temperature knobs at least, and the fan and seats are easily accessible, so of the screen implementations it's one of the better ones, but definitely still not ideal.

      @@PercyY-ib2vx Yep, as a midwesterner, it's not right for Winters. If you get caught in a blizzard, you have heat until the battery is dead and then you get cold and even when traffic moves, you are an anchor. With hybrids, you have a gas engine too. Also, I understand in the cold, the battery on EVs drain much faster. In a warmer climate or near home, I'm sure they would be fine.
