Cool summer here. I LOVE summer colors in general, so I’m not about to complain. I’m just a bit frustrated sometimes because it’s difficult to find fully cool colors that are not super soft OR super bright. The in-between is tricky. But I love it. The pinks, the mauves, the blues, the greys… I’m living my best life “girly” girl life.
I’m a Bright Spring and definitely an extrovert, so those vibrant colours suit my personality well. I also like how the Light Spring colours are suiting me better as I age so I can incorporate more of those and lean less into my sister season, Bright Winter. I'm a Bright Spring, too, but very introverted, and lucky for me I'm not one of the most vibrant of the Brights. So, I gravitate toward the crossover colors with Light Spring and it works. In the extended palettes that I've seen, there are a lot of crossover colors or extremely close colors, so I don't feel limited.
I’ve always been of the opinion that if you genuinely find your palette off-putting, it might not be yours to begin with. The beauty of color analysis is, you CAN wear anything you want-the palette that is your best is a bonus!! 😊
I was thrilled when I learned I’m a bright winter! Suddenly my eyes opened up to all the possible. It was as if I were given permission to embrace who I’ve always been. Odd, I know, but so fun!!
What a breath of fresh air! This is the first time I’ve heard a relaxed view about palette colors. My young self had nearly black hair with very fair skin. Therefore I was a Winter and had to wear very high contrast combinations. I always thought the colors were boring, just straightforward red, blue, green, etc. well now I’m growing out my gray and have decided that I really belong in the Autumn camp. I’ve always preferred the colors and have, it seems, decorated my home around them. I always felt as if I was wearing a straight jacket in the Winter colors and had to use a lot of blush because I was so pale. With the Dark Autumn colors, I need very little blush and I don’t feel like I have to stand out in the crowd the whole time. So thank you for this affirmation.
It is so interesting that within my winter cool palette, i find the most excitement in one row (representing the correct cocktail mix of chroma and value) of colors and those are the colors that work best next to my face. Luckily i have a bold personality and i get to have fun matching those levels together instead of blending away in the softer colors i used to favor. It was your Streamline Your Style course that helped me unlock that fact so thank you thank you!
Absolutely agree about the changes in life, I am a neu mom and have s problem, that I don’t have time, money and opportunity to wear my old closet, because I spent 98% of my time climbing, digging in mud, rushing through my errands, so cannot wear my fancy heels, dresses, suits etc. I just need practical clothes easy to take care of and put nice outfits together quickly. It’s like a 180 degree turn and I am kind of lost…😅
If I could pick my palette it would be deep or true winter. I LOVE jewel tones and I love bold colors. Fading into the background is my nightmare. Unfortunately, I knew that I was about the opposite of deep winter, and I went through different palletes trying to figure out what I was and I was never satisfied, even when I thought I settled on one.i finally realized I was soft autumn and now I have closure! Even though it's not the palette I would choose, seeing the harmony that it brings to my features allows me to be happy with it, and like you said, I stick to the bolder, darker colors in my palette. Thanks for the video!
My daughter is a very extrovert Soft Autumn - and she handles it so well! She is an outdoor type so a lot of her outdoor gear is in the perfect colours as there's always a soft warm green, a soft warm beige, a soft warm brown. She then combines it with more edgy style like like pale washed ripped jeans, graphic tees and some slightly oversized sweaters, maybe with a worn look. The edgy and relaxed vibe gives her a very approachable air which is in perfect synch with her personality! This is however rare, that people manage to "work against" their colour palette. I'm also following Jorunn in Norway (Nordic Simplicity) who's herself a very accomplished Colour Analyst. She calls herself a Reluctant Bright Winter😍 With a great sense of humor she explains how she goes about wearing her palette while respecting her personality👏 I highly recommend❤ But a really important and great video here, and so well explained👌🥰
I had trouble with the Deep Winter colour palette at first. But I gave it a chance and soon realized that I'm more on the softer side of the spectrum (Deep Winter Soft), which definitely suits me better. I loooove my colours now! They match my personality and my colouring.

My personality has always been loud and bright. Rainbow is a good way to describe it, but as a deep, cool season (Dark/Deep Winter specifically), I don't really suit orange, which I've been struggling with, because it's one of my favorite colors! This video reminded me that my "daily" style in clothing has always been more subtle, but I can play with textures, patterns, and construction to find what I like the best (bold patterns, flowy shapes, and fun details) and save the rainbows for special occasions and my interior design (looking around, that seems to be where I've found my orange; in the table I use for candles and incense and in my dining room chairs and placemats).
I am an utter delight of a person, and I have always loved wearing all black, my 'colours' are the occasional burgundy or dark/cool olive green. Lo and behold, I am a winter colour season. Beyond thrilled that my season is dark and badass.
I love this side of colour analysis. I was analysed in the four season system, but like you say, there was a personality test before. The stylist (Tanya Suki Style in Edinburgh, fabulous Winter girly), told me that when she saw me walk in she thought I'd be an autumn, but when she was doing the personality test I was only scoring spring and some winter and summer, not a single autumn. It turns out I was a spring, it matches me, I'm very variable and very high energy, and extrovert with bouts of lows. I really would love to know what subtype spring I'm in the 16 season system. I felt empowered to be myself after my analysis, as if someone had given me permission to be myself. Incidentally, I look quite drab in Autumn colours, which my wardrobe was filled with.
I am a warm spring and an extrovert. With my warm, medium medium palette I think I lucked out because it can go bright and cheery or understated and relaxed as I do.
I’m a true spring who prefers dark colors and an edgier style (I was even goth as a teen). I compromise by wearing my darkest neutrals, sometimes cheating with colors dark enough to be autumn, and animal prints. After much searching, I found a distressed leather biker jacket in cinnamon brown that has become my comforter/blankie. It’s not easy, but it’s do-able.
As someone who’s lived decades in winter colors only to get analyzed as a HOC soft autumn, I am definitely struggling to marry my colors to my personality! It was easy to find winter colors in fitted shapes and classic styles. Many autumn clothes I see are too casual and oversized for me. I’ve purged about 90% of my wardrobe (mostly black clothing) and am now trying to pluck up the courage to try dying what’s left.
Just wanted to encourage you to try! Idk what’s making you hesitant to dye them so this might not apply, but the way I see it if you’re not happy with them then you’ve got nothing to lose. The worst that can happen is that you’re still not happy with them. And who knows, it might work! You might be able to cut off scraps to patch test? Like those ribbons that help clothes stay on the hanger, even though they often don’t dye the same as the rest of the garment it should let you get some idea of how the garment’s original colour interacts with the dye’s colour? If you can cut a scrap from the main fabric your test will be more accurate!
Years ago, I was told I was an autumn and that was just fine with me as I love those colors (I have a bit of a ruddy complexion, teal eyes and light ash brown hair, now with blonde highlights to cover the grey). Earlier in the year, I was told that I was a warm soft spring and to me, those colors lack the gravitas I need and like. So I am back to wearing soft warm autumn colors and spring be damned!
Pegging someone's season seems to have a lot of subjectivity to it. I was once told by a store's color season "expert" that I'm an Autumn, even though only 3 of the colors looked decent on me, and the colors she liked on me made me look absolutely jaundiced! As you can imagine, I was horrified. I'm actually a very neutral Bright Spring, almost a Clear Winter. I also knew a woman who was told that she's a Spring, so she started wearing bright firey red, which is a terrible color on her; she looks pasty in that color and it clashes with her auburn hair. She's actually a True Autumn, and looks fabulous in dark rust and dark red and forest green. True autumn-embers colors. It made me sad because she stopped wearing the colors that looked so right on her.
May I ask why you sought out a second analysis if you were doing fine with your Autumn colours? I know many people do get an updated analysis because they feel the colours don’t work any more so I am curious ☺️💕

Ambivert here 😆 and I guess that I'm a cool or soft summer. Either way I pick the brighter colors when I'm in extrovert environments and soft colors when I need the calm. For weddings or parties I always picked some winter deep/bright colors... could be the extrovert in me that needed a push to mingle 😅

I think Cool Summer would be considered in between introverted and extroverted because of the medium chroma cool colours. Sometimes I can be more extroverted with the Cool Winter colours. 😊
@sarahryanthestylecoach well thats the thing, theyre all very light and bright, bubbly and sweet. They remind me of children, sweets and macaroons. My vibe is way more dark, muted, vintage and calm. They don't speak to me at all 😅 maybe only in very small details to honor my playfulness, but thats it
I thought my personality was more edgy---and I loved black, but that was me hiding, It felt safe. After having my son and healing, I naturally embraced my True (may be cool) summer colors, even before being typed. I wear interesting clothing with patterns, but still very elegant. I have soft features.. but can tolerate contrast because of my darker brown hair.. I am an introvert. The AI color analysis always tells me I'm a bright winter or bright spring (I totally understand that AI color analysis is not reliable though).. makes me wonder if I am a true bright.. carol Brailey speaks about this.
@@sarahryanthestylecoach well, nothing wrong with wearing black, I just wore black from head to toe, with dark nails, and black hair.. not gothic, but more edgy. Now I love color!
So personally, I think that it can be useful for some people to also have a 'demure' palette and pieces. For me this is great. When I want to blend in, and be invisible, I don't use colors that are my best - I choose colors and clothes that look nice but are not my best colors or styles - ones that dull me down a bit and are not loud themselves either... I even have some clothes in colors that look pretty bad on me or that draw attention away from my face because just occasionally that can be very useful, too. I don't think using personal colors and style is always looking your best - it is also about knowing what will be useful for you in different situations.
I do the same thing!!! I’m bright spring and I use the more intense autumn colours to just fade into the background a little if I feel low energy or unsure of a situation
@@pouchika5672 no just often introverted/lacking energy to interact with people - and I know that not every situation is about me - someone's wedding or birthday for example - I choose to fade away a bit. OR if one particular ex boyfriend came to visit - I would definitely choose colors I look old/sick in. Looking my best is just not always the most important (or particularly important) to me.
I had my colors done decades ago when there were 4 seasons. Now the seasons have been subdivided into either 3 or 4 sub categories. I have watched videos trying to figure out which of the subcategories of my season I am. However, they were unclear and left me confused. I wonder if you can make a video explaining this - or even better a video for each of the 4 seasons breaking each down into the subcategories. I would love this. Thanks.
There is theory which says that a person who is cheerful and want people to take him/ her seriously should dress in opposite to cheerful colours and vice/versa What are your views on it?
I've been struggling with this for some time. I've been analysed as a true summer. BUT I'm so drawn to dark winter as I adore an alternative/edgy/gothic sort of aesthetic. Of course the staple colours for that aesthetic is very dark. Most summer colours appear to be light. I've been looking at the navies and darker greys to use. And I like those colours but impossible to achieve the alternative aesthetic I've been using all my life. It doesn't match up at all. My last resort is to wear black and any other deep colour I want but focus my make up around summer make up. It is really hard when my personal style is quite specific. Don't get me wrong I love the summer colours but I don't always feel like me when I put them on.
I'm an introvert and bright winter. At first i thought it would be difficult to wear very bright and saturated colors, but in the end they make me so beautiful and it just makes so much sense visually that I dont feel opressed by it anymore. Better that than looking like an ill introvert lol.

@@sarahryanthestylecoach a friend was going for the first time and asked if I would accompany her. The consultant was lovely and offered to do my colors for a nominal fee. To make my friend feel more comfortable, I agreed. What was amusing was that I had told my friend her colors before we even got there.
Where did you get your jacket at Sarah? I love it!
Oh thank you. It’s from Hobbs ☺️💕
That’s the way to do it 💕☺️
I struggle because my best colours are deep and muted but I live in the tropics and have a wardrobe of 90% linen clothes. It’s hard to find many deep, muted linens.
I understand that. I know linens tend to white/natural. Maybe through accessories?
hello ms Sarah , well i jst found your channel while i was trying to figure out my personal color, & well , tbh im still trying since diff tests do give me different results..i even tried chatgpt's personal color analyst , it said that i had a soft autumn , other online apps said i fall into a deep winter categorie . its confusing but ill keep trying diff colors untill i found "MY" colors . thank u for helping us and could u please post more about the mind coaching and the NLP , we need an updated version ( especially with whats going on with the world rn ..)
Thank you for being here Rose. I have worked with lots of clients who received bad results from AI. I hope you find your palette. Thank you for your interest in Coaching and NLP! I don’t often get asked about this! ☺️💕
I think Cool Summer would be considered in between introverted and extroverted because of the medium chroma cool colours. Sometimes I can be more extroverted with the Cool Winter colours. 😊
Yes it’s in the sweet spot of medium chroma ☺️💕
@sarahryanthestylecoach We're both very lucky Sarah! 😊
What would you advice to a light spring who is an introvert, a bit edgy/rebellious and lives in bohemian rock vibes?
Take a look at your palette and move towards the colours that speak to you ☺️💕
@sarahryanthestylecoach well thats the thing, theyre all very light and bright, bubbly and sweet.
It’s so interesting to read this and your thoughts on wearing black. ☺️💕
@@sarahryanthestylecoach well, nothing wrong with wearing black, I just wore black from head to toe, with dark nails, and black hair.. not gothic, but more edgy. Now I love color!
I’m a summer and I truly miss red!
Oh Margreet! Who told you that you can’t wear red? Red can be beautiful on a Summer! ☺️💕
@ what kind of red can I wear then?
So personally, I think that it can be useful for some people to also have a 'demure' palette and pieces. For me this is great. When I want to blend in, and be invisible, I don't use colors that are my best - I choose colors and clothes that look nice but are not my best colors or styles - ones that dull me down a bit and are not loud themselves either... I even have some clothes in colors that look pretty bad on me or that draw attention away from my face because just occasionally that can be very useful, too. I don't think using personal colors and style is always looking your best - it is also about knowing what will be useful for you in different situations.
Are you a spy 😮😮!? Jk
Agreed and there will always be a range of colours within a palette that are more demure than others 💕☺️
Thanks.
Hi Nettie. I appreciate your suggestion. ☺️💕
@ Thanks for the reply. I hope you decide to do it.
There is theory which says that a person who is cheerful and want people to take him/ her seriously should dress in opposite to cheerful colours and vice/versa
What are your views on it?
I don’t necessarily agree with that. I think cheerful people can be taken seriously while in cheerful colours. ☺️💕
I totally understand. It’s marrying the two that might take a little time ☺️💕
