    Yes!!! Stuck on a few occasion, had my local shop wire up a LED voltage gauge that i monitor, "every ride".... the nature of the beast!

    Regulator rectifiers waste a lot of energy in heat converting the AC voltage the bike makes into stable DC. I've found on my Hondas, Yamahas, Kawasakis, I need to put it in direct air stream to cool. I can only imagine if I lived in a hotter state, they burn up in the colder NYS weather too.

    That’s crazy I’ve been on a 300 for about 6 months and I loved this road, just started looking at bigger bikes and I’m getting a 750 today. Been a min since I’ve ridden Patterson pass looks like that’ll be the first road I hit up when I get it thx man

    Ladies and gents. Buy both rectifier and stator and replace them. So you know your good and your ride wont fail you. Hopefully

      +Dale Curiel You're right, it's not a bad idea to just replace both and then be done with it but you're also wrong, there are no ladies here...

      You are correct the issue does stem from the stock location of the rectifier. It is subjected to an excessive amount of heat being just above the headers and behind the radiator. Once you relocate the rectifier replace the stator your issues will be resolved however putting the rectifier inside the airbox doesn't seem to be the best solution. You can pick up a rectifier relocation bracket that is a direct bolt-on application from flatlandInnovations,com This puts the rectifier in front of the radiator where you would commonly find an oil cooler. This will restore the reliability and resolve the issue. I have an 07 GSXR 750 in my opinion it's the best sport bike on the planet I hope this helps. You can also look at the UA-cam video for flatlandi nnovations rectifier relocation bracket

      I just replaced both, good parts not Amazon cheap stuff. Now the bike will only idle for 5-10 seconds. Voltage goes up to 14.3 then bikes dies and voltage drops. Not sure where to go from here

    Yes, Suzuki totally screwed the pooch on that one. They mounted it just inches above the friggin exhaust header.

    The pop is the telltale. I've burnt a few in different bikes, the pop and the smell will tell.

    holy shit!!! what a great road... man im so glad I seen this video, my 2007 Gsxr 600 left me stranded a few days ago... and i figured its my rectifier or stator.. and I almost opened up my stator to check.. so now I guess I will do more research. on how to check the voltage of the stator. thank you.

    I always loved the looks and the feeling of that bike, i was about to buy one but all my friends said: "NO, don't do it."
    I thought they were going for the "gixxers are for douchebags" arguments, but they said :" they have electrical issues"... Sad to know that such a great bike got a lot of problems. :(

      You should still get one, they're a hoot to ride and very comfortable compared to the other Supersports (although that is a personal thing... The others aren't safe from electrical issues either and the GSX-R's issues are rather preventable with little work. On ZX-6R's for example, it gets so toasty under the seat due to the undertail exhaust that the ECU will eventually get fried. Talk about a pricey repair. Also some CBR600's (think the F4i, not sure though) can just catch on fire willy-nilly due to, you guessed it, electrical issues.
      All you pretty much have to do is relocate the rectifier, because that will pretty much save you from all the other problems. As soon as the rectifier (which I often call "Rektifrier" due to its suicidal nature) goes, you're pretty much boned if you don't replace it right away.
      There's no bike that is completely free from issues but it's up to you how you deal with them.

      There's a easy Salton to the rectifier you just mount it on the side of the bike instead of right over the radiator same with the stator

    saw your last video, did the problem also cause you speedo to read 0mph all the time mine does this and bounces around up to 186mph and F1 code on but no code. I don't ride it now but I swaped my engine from 600 to 750.

    i think its a stator problem on my bike because when i went to turn it on, it was cranking slowly and before that i had turned it on. Then it wouldn't turn on at all. I then recharged the battery, tested it with a volt meter, and it gave me 12.5 when they bike was completely turned off. Then when i started it, it went down to 11.9 and i revved it and it didn't even go up.

    the regulator/rect on my '08 is on the left fairing side, is this still an issue?

    Good morning:
    I have a question about these parts. Does the regulator rectifier and the generator stator both have the same voltage and if not what are those voltage suppose to be? Also I need to know if they are working well? Thank You

    I put my bike on paddock stands and I only lost about an egg cup full of oil when I took my stator cover off..

    • @StickySideDownOfficial
      @StickySideDownOfficial  8 років тому

      Yeah unfortunately oil does come out. Just replace whatever leaked out and make sure you change the gasket or do an entire oil change like I did.

    reat dos and donts vid. so from replacing just your rectifier did you encounter any problems after? I did the same but 5 days later my bike died again. I assumed it's the stator now. sent u a like and a sub keep them coming man

      Thanks brother. I try to get vids out but time is a real bitch... Anyway, no my bike was great after changing the regulator. I did relocate it as well so it won't fry up anymore, I don't know if you did the same but it's easy and I recommend doing it.

    • @JSKImotovlogs
      @JSKImotovlogs 8 років тому

      +StickySideDown no I didn't relocate it. I figured I wasn't gonna ride this bike forever just this season then possibly a brand new one next year.

    how is it holding up so far ?

    • @StickySideDownOfficial
      @StickySideDownOfficial  7 років тому

      +jwrath90 Wow, I can't believe the timing of your comment haha! What I mean is the bike was perfect up until about a day ago when I found out I had to jump the bike because the battery was dead. It was a while since I had ridden it last so I didn't think too much about it. Today, however, I went to go to work, had to jump it. And after only five hours at work, had to jump it again. So, to answer your question, it WAS holding up great! Not so much anymore...

    • @jwrath90
      @jwrath90 7 років тому

      StickySideDown hmm. I was curious. I've been through 5 rr's, 4 batteries and about 3 stators. it seems like the rr goes out m every year. this last time was about 6 months. twice with "relocating" it. I've just about had enough. that is until I read that they might be going out because if the type of rr. Apparently there us what's called a mosfet regulator that's supposed to not go out because it has a different way of working that jeeps it cool . I'm thinking of giving it one last try and going do or die by investing in one. I love my bike.
