    The Ibanez naming method actually makes sense. It tells you the features of the guitar. It's just too hard to remember.

      its like when i see 35 in a guitar name, its usually a es335 body shape

    • @Henry-fv3bc
      @Henry-fv3bc Рік тому

      Yeah but their guitar models usually only last a couple years before they issue new ones in each line, so for that reason a more numeric model naming system makes more sense since it's easier to constantly issue new model numbers

    I have a Ibanez artcore too and its one of the best guitars for the money. You really just need a nice quality tube amp honestly. Nice job

    Got one for myself today. The neck and pickups really caught my attention. The neck is nice and smooth so you go through it with no problems. The pickups sound really good and really responsive tone wise: they sound good bright, sound good dark, both neck and bridge. Really a solid buy if you find for a good price.

      One of the best budget hollowbody guitars out there IMO

      Bought myself one this week. The look reminded me of the Gibson ES335 (Can't afford) in many ways. But this was a great price, and I tried it against a few epiphone and gretsch hollowbody models. I love sunburst finishes... and the weight of this took the prize. So much lighter and sounded lovely. This video is great man.

    There is a logic in model lettering at Ibanez , a stands for acoustic ( used for semi and full hollow) f stands for full hollow and s for semi. When J comes into the picture that refers to jazz meaning 20 fret only version ( true jazz neck pickup position ing possibility) when G comes after the a , it means smaller body version (initiated by George B.) As far as numbering after the letters, the higher the better families like 70, 80, 90 or 100 plus a

    I took my 2017 AF75 (Indonesia)and replaced all of the electronics and I also replaced the pick ups (simply a preference), but I never replaced the tuners, because it never goes out of tune, Lol.
    What I did find was that all of that might not have been needed, if I first changed to the flatwounds that I have on it now. They changed the character of the tone more than almost anything else.
    AF75 is a great guitar for a very reasonable amount of cash and it's my go to for jazz and blues.

    I have one with bubinga body. Gorgeous guitar. I upgraded the pickups to SD H59. Changed the tuners which I thought was too loose to Gibson tuners. Sounds amazing.

    The volute design was added on Gibson guitars for structural integrity in hopes that the neck wouldn't crack, they were wrong in their design and hypothesis and essentially abandoned the idea. It was a comfortable feature though.

    Ibanez model names/#'s always made the most sense to me. but i've been playing Ibanez since the 80's. Ibanez usually names their guitars like this: First 2-3 letters refers to the body shape, the first #'s usually refers to the quality level, the letters after usually refers to the color or type of top like FM for flamed maple etc. AF is their Hallow w/ a rounded single cutaway, AG is slimmer body than the AF and a pointer cutaway. The 75 is cheaper or more affordable. Made in Indonesia, 1 piece Nyatoh neck, walnut fretboard, chrome hardware, plastic nut and stock ibanez classic pups. The 95(higher # better quality made materials) is made in China but has a better build, better woods. Example it's got a 3 piece neck Maple and Nyatoh and Ebony fretboard, gold hardware, still the plastic nut but comes w/ better pups the Ibanez super 58's, which is what the George Benson guitars w/ full size humbuckers comes with. the Ag 2000 is like the prestige of their semi hollows. Made in Japan with bone nut, better woods, more attention to detail etc. The "BS" stands for Brown sunburst. as for the 1201 I'm not as familiar w/ their codes for semi hollows but I'm guessing the 1 is code for 1 cutaway, 20 is their code for two humbuckers and the last 1 usually means fixed bridge (non locking trem style bridge).

      I have one of each, the AF75 and an AG95 w/ Bubinga top & a gorgeous tailpiece.
      Both are excellent and mine both came with the same Ibanez p/u's, but the pick ups sound slightly better in the AG95, I'm guessing because of the woods and the 3 piece neck.

    I have one of these and I play it ALL the time...That says alot considering I used to have a 1969 Gibson ES-150d that basically FELL into my lap, but I could never bond with it..It had a really thin/flat neck with narrow string spacing and in the 10 years I had it I maybe played it 5 times...I'm not saying the Ibanez Af75 is better than a vintage Gibson!!.I'm just saying the AF75 was a WAY better fit for me,and I got much more playing out of it(Which is the point) because it felt so comfortable...Plus I got it on CL for $125

    AF75 Artcore Full and 75 is the series. The higher the number in the series the greater the quality. I have an AF85 and it's better than the AF55 or 75 I hope this clarifies your problem with ibanez

    Very nice vid thanks! I have to say, it looks and sounds really fine for the kind of money it costs!
    I do not entirely agree to your last statement. The idea behind a hollow body is, that the body actually does have an influence on the sound. And if I listen to your video, I can hear it has a nice hollow body sound in it.
    Great review man, thnx!

    • @charlie-obrien
      @charlie-obrien 9 місяців тому

      The Hollowbody really influences the tone you get from your strings, via the added resonance.
      Flats sound more like flats and the Round wounds have more of that distinctive character.
      Also more natural, "in the room" projection.

    So I am new to guitar...want to play jazz...I got this one...replaced with 57 Gibson pickups...got new bone nut...got Benson Infeld Jazz strings and Gibson tuners...What else do I need to upgrade it? What would an electronics upgrade do? I feel like the bridge and tailpiece are essential to the look...but what Pots and capacitors and wires are stock inside and what would be the upgrade for jazz playing?

    Ibanez bas offered archtop hollow bodies for a good, long time. Ibanez offers big name signature jazzboxes for George Benson, Pat Metheny, and until recently, Larry Carlton. The George Benson is Ibanez' longest running endorsement.
