7:56 he made renekton both think he was gonna last hit his cannon (and subsequently letting renek lasthit his) but was baiting it and just sacrificed it for the allin. It's pretty dope even in high elo.
Riven is very telegraphed in what she wants to do, and most high elo players understand this to a degree. Pointing out that he changes his tempo/beat when using skills is the epitome of an excellent riven player.

Riven is a highly mechanical champ, but in the end she Stat checkes you if oneshot or not, and currently riven only succeedes if someone who knows trade patterns perfectly poilots her, and even then there are better champs in my opinion
Q1-E-Q2 for approaching is actually the best order, for the reason of chaining other skills and maintaining the shield.

@@Kanmeii I just dont like that your performance of a champion is determined on animation cancels. If the animations are that sluggish that they need to be cheesed to make her not feel clunky, they should just speed all the animations up.

@@Keyblader001 every point you made is ridiculous your performance isn't determined on animation cancels, it depends on knowing where to use which combo also her animations aren't sluggish and they have very little times (0.25 sec time for w and r)
riven has such a high skill ceiling that it takes so much effort just to play her well, and alot of time and work to play her at this level. the average player cannot play her to this level sadly.

This is the only reason I chose League of Legends instead of Overwatch 2. The ability to see any one of the 100+ champions being played to a high level. Instead of leaderboards being filled with the same tank or same dps over and over.

I would definitely love playing riven if her Q activated in the direction of the mouse cursor. Her Q moving in the direction the champion model is currently facing feels so clunky and awful to me making it unplayable.

I have 500k mastery on Riven and this is one of the reasons I don't play her anymore. Minion block changing your Q direction has literally cost me kills so many times
It used to activate in her direct or enemy but they changed that in season 7

The fact that he starts with D Blade in all these difficult matches really shows he has the balls to win through outplay/all in. Almost all NA riven use long sword x 3 or dshield and wait for mistake / wear enemy down, this guy just says 1 wrong move you're DEAD lol.
Thats literally any riven player? You punish mistakes thats what riven does, literally DB is build on tougher matchups, Sword + pots is more high risk high reward
Doran’s blade is less ballsy. It makes you stronger in 1v1 but delays your item spike. Long sword 3 pot is harder to pull off

that riven skin is SO trippy and pay to win because of the way she holds her sword (like backwards instead of normal/upright) I just can't tell what move shes using at all in my brain esp after all the hydra particle effects (and also the skin is super red/orangy on both character texture, the particle effects of moves and coincidentally hydra is also that hue of colors)

Pretty sure they reused the animation from Dawnbringer when she has R active, holding the blade behind her. The only thing weird with that skin is her Q3 animation, very strange.

I'm really intrigued about how these super pros brains work, it must be a hell lot of micromanaging to not only cs, watch the map, telegraph your own moves (as Riven requires intense mechanical skills) but also to memorize the opponent's cooldowns.
I hate Riven as a champ, but to lose to such skill, I probably won't get as upset, just in complete awe.
experience, pattern detection, and muscle memory are the biggest factors. it gets to a point where you're good enough at a character that it starts to play itself, you don't have to put much thought into reacting to a situation you just kind of instinctively know what you have to do after you've done it enough times. the less attention you have to pay to piloting your champ, the more attention you can pay to the rest of the game- map, wave states, tracking enemies, tracking cooldowns, objectives, etc. humans only have so much attention they can divide among so many things, a lot of the times if you're focusing on trades and cs, you'll be less aware of the map, and you might die to ganks/roams, which is what really sets the best players apart. the ability to juggle all of the different skills required, and to do them all at the highest level simultaneously is very difficult to manage. I consider myself pretty good, I love studying azhy's games though, it's very inspiring to know that there's somebody that good out there for me to chase after

@@messiah_lol 100% but i genuinely think half of the things you said come down to talent and mechanics , there are people that just have better mechanics than others naturally. I am a very average / below average mechanically and i have known / seen people that palyed the gam eafter me be much better at piloting mechanical champs than me even if i know exactly what i need to do with the champ and may have more knowledge about the champ than them.
@@idirbouchdoug1567 you're right, talent does play a part, different stuff just clicks for different people. effort always outpaces talent in the long run though. it can be discouraging to see others excel at something you've worked hard for without much effort but generally those players (this used to be me) will cap out pretty quickly and become stuck, sort of like the turtle and the hare. talent can be a huge head start but knowing HOW to continue to improve once you've reached a plateau can be very difficult. steady progression has no limit, talent only goes so far. when the two are combined though, you get some crazy results

This champion is absolutely busted. By far the best champion to OTP in the game.
It's not the champ, her s13 build is busted (hydra - cleaver - eclipse into defense)

this guy for sure is insane, but there is no way, that scorch is the optimal rune choice
he opts for early win thats why he's going d blade and scorch. More of a 100 or 0 play
when you are playing for early kills in lane which leads to snowball which riven is great at then yes it's a good choice, if you fail to snowball though there are definitely better choices come mid/late game. Also the runes are very matchup dependant. Azhy doesn't take those runes every game
he goes a mix of resolve and sorcery. Sorcery tree (especially nimbus cloak rune) is very common on Riven. I can see scorch working fine
scorch is early focused on matchups u wanna short trade

i really liked the video, but i have an opinion about it...
i watch your channel for a long time and the thing i liked the most is how you talk about the tricks the really good guys use, and how you UNRAVEL the secrets of the champions, and i really missed it here, maybe its my bad, but things like "R does not combo with your Q, so you need to use E to combo" really teach me how to work with the champion.
in this video i got the feeling you wanted to teach a good riven how to be great, and it's really dificult to already find "good" rivens, i know there's another video about it, but since time pass and people learn more tricks and everything i would like more content about the champions tricks and secrets as well

I hate the quinn lane as a Riven player, but honestly the best a jungler can do is simply try to burn Quinn's flash.
If both Riven and Quinn have flash it is very Quinn favored and she'll just bully you forever. If she doesn't but you do, you can simply braindead go all in and once she uses E you can just flash follow her and get a kill. Riven is my favorite champion because you play around cooldowns like this, and there's plenty of situations where you're both full HP but you know, 30 seconds before it happens, that you are about to get a kill.
the cdr boots makes difference in this scenario since your flash will be up earlier

I've been maining riven since s3. I used to play for the flashiness and outplays but grew tired of it too. Multicasting was my bread and butter before but now i play similarly to this guy. Less flashy stuff but smarter moves.
Sometimes flashy isn't always good. I like this guy's style. He still involves some key aspects of playing riven, but makes it simpler and more impactful

@@SelathTV He wasnt clearing the wave... He was just baiting the enemy... cmon its not that hard he wasnt actually looking or focusing on the wave, rather in the spacing. Spacing correctly with Riven takes u to next level... He did in fact CLEAR THE WAVE but he wasnt focusing on the wave or minions, rather watching the cooldowns and spacing to land the kill.

"Pretend" as in Azhy hiding his real intention of setting up the Q3 for the kill by wave clearing with Q1 and Q2, he did clear the minions but that acts as a disguise of his true motive. The whole sentence is referring to his intention, not what he actually did.

Still can't believe they randomly buffed her recently. Oh wait I can cause she got a skin to go with it.
The buff was placebo, she was lacking dmg and the buffs gave her +5 damage in a combo. The passive applying on towers feels nice tho. The thing that increased her wr was the new build going around with eclipse.

Because he goes all-in strategy to pressure and get ahead. Riven is extremely hard to play without the lead so it's not like transendence scaling gonna be a big factor. Azhy feels like scorch early is more of a difference maker for Riven than transendence that only comes online later. Early on and level 6-9 every bit of dmg matters on Riven for lethal too and when she is not all-ining she can poke trade a lot after a few points in Q / getting back to lane with ionians.
fast early trades, not good for late game but very strong for cheese
The secondary rune choice of nimbus cloak and scorch is for cheesing early kills. It's a good setup for chipping away at enemies hp bar with some trades then using flash/ignite for the movespeed to finish off the kill. Alot of the time in lane you will just use one q or w then back off so scorch helps alot with those short trades and yea nimbus for the all in when they are in lethal range.
And in games where enemy team has alot of cc you should go legend: tenacity and unflinching because being locked down is the best way to shut down fed hyper carries such as Riven, Kata etc. Alot of Riven's power is being able to leap on opportunities as they arise with flash or just e/q mobility and catch people as soon as they miss step so being cc'ed during that moment is quite painful
in KR no one play malphite and garen to counter riven :/

Yep this champ is balanced as fuck if player before monitor is good. After that u put another good player but this time he will play zed and just try(idk how but please try it for me) to not smile challenge and dont even try to compare these champions
me when i pick garen:
She has a higher winrate against Garen than the average champion does against garen. Traditional advice says Garen is a “counter” to her but a good riven isn’t getting stomped by a garen. Even if riven lost lane to Garen she should be able to impact other lanes more thanks to her mobility and cc and more frequent ability uptime. Plus her execute is multi-target rather than single target, she’s just better. Garen is much easier though and if you’re not up against a skilled riven it’s probably fine to go Garen but other picks work too, Garen is just the easiest

It's like the champion can't function without Ult, Flash or Ignite. Most notably after level 6-9 (depending on how fed the riven got) And unless 4-5 levels up, every fight after level 6 is always close, decided by an unexpected flash or side step of an ability that would have killed if it hit.

It'd be a good gameplay change to make her shield decay because there's zero point in attacking or wasting abilities on it when it only last 1.5 seconds. It feels bad to play around since you have to wait for it.
All shields should have a decay infact except for Sion for obvious reasons.

@@shinji136 With the current build she does more than enough dmg into tanks. The armor pen from eclipse + shred from cleaver makes her go quite dummy after 2-3 items. She doesn't win after 1item because her first is generally hydra, which she takes for scaling and income. Late game riven dumpsters tanks and has more than enough in her kit to explode carries.

idk why but i dont get impressed by rivens. Yes guys like these are astronomically good but riven isnt like other champs, shes an arcade character and in the hands of a good player, who will for sure not int and be relevant, her unlimited cooldowns with a knockup or stun, insane mobility allows her to 1v1 pretty much anyone late game or not. and if by chance it gets late game and you get a hyper fed full armor nasus or something, she can just bomba the other players on the team and win the game
and all it takes is garen to make her entire game hell, that silence really makes her a sitting duck in the middle of the team

The easiest enemies for Riven. All of them are killed without any tricks. Show me how you win mordekaiser after lvl 6.
