These are the commands that are used within Putty
At the login prompt use the login name root

Its a good question and I am more than happy to answer it.
If you look at our approach, we provide full videos on the processes behind all out repairs for free. We want people to do these repairs on their own when capable, reach out to a local repair shop if they are not or engage with someone on our list to do it for them. I try to ensure that these videos are all shot from start to finish in one go but this is not away possible and occasionally some editing is required. We also have a discord server where you can get free advice and assistance from people who current do this process on a regular basis.
We have build a network of people around the globe to reduce costs associated with shipping.
I (like all the others doing the repair) are happy for people to drop by in person and for them to watch the process in full.

Thank you for your video. For three years, I couldn't get the Karma to work. With your instructions, it's finally running again. This should be shared more widely, and GoPro should be ashamed for not providing this support.

Ben you truly are amazing I’ve watched your other videos from back in the day when I was attempting to find hair restoration options because I had pulled out almost all of mine in a vain attempt to fix my drone. The patience you must’ve had is commendable. I’m interested as to how it all came about and how you reached the solution you did.

Hey Jo, I can't take credit for finding the solution to the pairing issue or the controller upgrade fix. For the controller upgrade fix I adapted work that others had done to turn the controller into a gaming console so that you could write a newer version of the firmware to it. For the pairing issue I had been working with a group of others and we were trying to replace the bootloader via the UART boot but we were not able to get it to enter the UART boot mode consistently. Sergey cracked the ability to boot from SD card which then provided the missing part to the upgrade process.
Since then my part have been about promotion of this method and setting up a social media presence, getting the Discord server off the ground and engaging with people around the world who have the ability to carry out the repair reducing the cost of shipping. We are continually adding new counties to the list.

I connected the RX, TX, and ground wires to my drone and tried using PuTTY, but nothing showed up in the console. I restarted the drone a couple of times, and changing the RX and TX but then, it just stopped turning on altogether. I'm not sure what happened. Can you help?
Come over to the discord server and ask the question there. I would start with making sure your batteries are all charged and then check to make sure putty is configured correctly. The speed is the big one (from memory its 115200). Be precises in the description of the issue, include any errors and a screenshot always helps.

You can get power from the drone or use an external power supply. Some people have been using power from the USB TTL device, the Project good karma board is also used for power via its USB-C connection.
Hi Bozmanx where can I buy the tiny 3 pin female connector for the Karma's serial port , so it will fit exactly on the type of male connector on the mainboard. An advice which connector type I need is appreciated ! Thank you in advance. Cheers, Erik

Hello. I was wondering why there are only three wires hooked up to the nand. You show a ground, dat rx and data tx.
Most usb data cables have four wires, the fourth being power.
I am assuming that the power cable is not be attached to the nand connector. Is that right or did I miss something in your instructions? Please let me know.

You are correct, it doesnt require a power wire as the board powers itself.

Thanks for really good video, i have soldered SD card reader, i see drone with putty but when i try to start it from sd card, it does nothing, when i touch with probe, does it mean that sd card reader is bad?
It means there is an issue with the SD boot process. It could be the card, the image on it or the SD reader you soldered. make sure the resister is only between voltage and the probe. Dont have the resister between voltage and the SD card reader.

Hello, you have a lot of great info in this video. The only issue I am having is with the probe. I can see where to put the resistor, but my question is. where do you get, or how do you make a probe like the one you have with the 2 wires coming off of it? Thank you
I just soldered a couple of bits of wire together. Added a resister and connected it to an old multimeter lead that had a probe on it.

Will this happen to every Karma drone? I have two. One just got the "decease" during a lengthy winter hibernation a couple of years ago. The other one is still working.
Its possible, at the moment it appears that if you don't use it for a lengthy period of time that it happens. I got my Karma drone back in about 2015 but its is still fine.
@@bozmanx Is there any official word from GoPro. When this started to be an issue a lot of people got a new Karma core (body) as a replacement, but when I tried to open a case they offered me a new remote controller! I tried to complain and suggested that other people got a new core as the fix for this issue but to no avail. I don't understand how GoPro could offer replacement cores to some, while my excact same issue was supposed to be fixed with a new remote. I even explained that I already had tried to pair my 2nd remote to the unresponsive Karma core but it was hopeless. So I just digressed.
@@GrenlandUnderVann from what I heard many of the people who got a new core had the same problem because they had just been sitting around for years and they obviously were not testing them before they sent them. GoPro is not and has not commented on the pairing issue. I have approached them on several occasions (including the legal team) and they have never responded. My understanding is that no one is to respond to anything about the Karma. Support will let you log a call but will reply a week or so later with the line that they no longer support it.
Hello bozman. Is there any by chance i could purchase from you a complete built set of those usb adapters and thebsd card reader? I would highly appreciate it so i can finnaly revive my 2x karma drones that has been inoperable for 3 four years now.

Thank you for the video, with the number of drones with this issue do you think this is a one time repair or something that needs to be repeated as necessary?
Its possible that it could come back, a lot of people say it is related to one of the updates if thats the case then it should only happen once. Corruption on the boot loader is not a new thing, there are stacks of videos and forums on it. DJI also suffer from the same issue with the Divinci processors.

please,sir ,i can't type anything after the console appear the message "arago project",stop at here all the time. i can't type 'root' to login . now The uart interface does not respond after several failed attempts.Maybe I accidentally short-circuited RX and RT and GND during operation. but the drone can still power on and The glitch is the same as before (My original fault is that it is difficult to connect the controller after the upgrade of the drone, but it can be connected normally after forced restart for about 20 times, and it cannot be connected immediately after shutdown and reboot).So I think DM368 is still working, but for what reason has the uart interface been turned off. What am I supposed to do now? please

from what I have seen if you cant type in Putty people have solved this by downloading Tera Term. Its another free terminal emulation software package.
If you get the failed nand boot when you dont use the problem but get a blank screen when you use the probe you should check your wiring for the SD card setup. A blank screen when using the probe 99% of the time is an issue with the SD card or one of the board related to it. You should confirm that the resistor is only on the probe's power and not the SD card 's power.
@@bozmanx thank you .For the blank screen problem, the same wiring method I was able to get to the display message "arago project" at the beginning, but after many stuck in the can not enter root login there, it became a blank screen. Of course, I'll double check. Is there anything wrong.I had to fix the blank screen issue first and then download Tera Term to fix the problem of not being able to type command lines
hey at Bozmanx is it possible to program the nand using Jtag or the SWD interface?
Yes, you can but we avoided a solution that required a tms200/220 or Jlink due to their price.

You can use that onboard SD card reader but you will still need to trigger the SD card to boot and have a USB TTL serial device to see the output from the chip. Come over to the Discord server and we can help you though the process if you are going to attempt it.

You might also need to upgrade its firmware (as well as the other components)

One of the guys in our Facebook group is designing an all in one board which includes the SD card, a UART and a probe connection to trigger the SD boot on TP1. Its current progress is here

My drone has the SD card slot installed, where does the card actually come into play?
That means that you wont need to build a board to boot off, you still need to jumper FB36 and trigger the SD boot mode by applying 3.3 volts to TP1. Then just run the commands.

If you go to the discord server (link in the description) under important pictures there are about 5 pictures on the different methods.
I have managed to get the serial port set up in putty to the point that i can get the sd card to load to the arago project point but the characters during the loading are garbled and improper. then it will not allow me to type anything into the screen prompt cursor. i am using putty in windows 10, i do not know how to use linux at all. i have tried to google how to fix this issue and nothing is useful. i am literally on the verge of making this work finally after a faulty usb adapter etc etc etc.. this is one last issue i cannot seem to solve on my own. anyone have any suggestions?
awesome to hear you are making good progress. If you are getting garbled text its normally one of two things, the wrong speed set on either in device manager for the serial port or in putty, the other time we see it is if the serial device is a rs232 device and not TTL. When people cant type in putty they normally fix it by just changing to another terminal emulator like teraterm (its open source). I am not a electronics person, but would love to have my drone fly again. Karma is an awesome drone and I wish someone local could fix it for me. I can solder, I can follow instructions, I am generally mechanically inclined, but I believe I would struggle with this.
