  • We're Back!
After a long hiatus, Adventures of Shane and Laura is back!
We have lots of adventures that we've filmed that we haven't been able to upload yet. We have been able to find some time to edit them and now were bringing them to you, just slightly delayed.
We have some updates to the channel and some life updates. We hope you'll subscribe and join us on our adventures.
In this adventure we take a hike up to the Basin Lakes outside Red Lodge (near Billings Montana), in the Beartooth Mountains. The trip was supposed to be 2.5 miles, but seemed longer. The payoff turned out to be worth it though. The lower lake was filled with lillypads and flowers. It was beautiful, and we can definitely recommend the hike for anybody looking for a fun hike around Red Lodge.

Great tips. We love hiking. We actually just got back from Mexico City and hiked a 14,000 ft. volcano. OMG.....that was crazy but fun. That was great video you guys took fo the running water. Laura, it looks like Shane was using you as the guppy to cross that running water, and when your feet went in, Shane was like, I'm taking off my shoes....LOL. This video was well done. Great that you both are back. Could you watch our latest video, as we'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

Just subscribed to your channel, your videos are awesome. I visited Montana in 2018 and I fell in love with it. I’d like to move there to raise my kids in a good area like that with lost of outdoor activities and nature interaction. We are from Florida bad hurricane Irma destroyed our home so for that and some other reasons we want to move. Any thoughts guys? Would we be welcome by Montanans? Thanks for all your videos.

Thank you so much. We genuinely appreciate the positive feedback! So sorry to hear about the destruction of your home.
Montana is a really great state with lots of great communities to raise kids in. If I were considering moving here from another state, I would be sure to spend some time here in the winter. It can be very cold, but the hardest part of the winter here is that it can last VERY long. Although we've had warm days (even hot) here in Bozeman, we had lows in the 30s last week.
Summer in Montana is like no other place I have ever been. So much outdoor fun!
Montanans will likely be very friendly toward you and welcome you with open arms. You will see some off hand comments made on Facebook groups and message boards (things like "Montana's full, I hear North Dakota is nice"), though these comments are kinda rude, they are generally meant in jest.
Do understand that it is very expensive to live in certain communities in Montana, and the pay generally does not reflect that. According to Zillow, the median house price is $440k. According to my home searches, this is about right, and one likely would not be able to find any single family house under about $330k in Bozeman. There are a few other communities in Montana that are similarly expensive, though there are many communities where you could get by on much much less.
Some of this comes from the massive growth of Bozeman over the past decade. Because part of Montana's charm is the fact that it is not a crowded state, and another very important part of Montana is the culture here, this growth and change and increasing cost of living can be a source of strain between native Montanans and "Transplants".
To make a long story just a little longer (lol), there are very few people who move to Montana and don't love it. Those who leave generally seem to do so because of the long winters or the high cost of living in some communities.
Hope this helps! Welcome to the channel!

Thank you very much for replying. I’m doing all I am to make the move ASAP I really loved Montana when I was there. I was in Kalispell though. If winter are cold in Montana well we’ll try to stay warm. Please keep providing us with your awesome videos. Wish the best for you guys and your baby.

Quick 411 on Kalispell: another fast growing high cost of living community, great winters though, especially compared with Bozeman. Part of the Banana Belt of Montana! Best of luck!
