  • The laws of physics like gravitational pull apply to everyone but riding foil kites enables me to bend these a little bit to my advantage. Gliding like a bird and experience the nearest thing to weightlessness is my favorit part of kiteboarding.

      No secret but it just takes too much of the frame and would take the focus off the action. So I'm sorry these videos are not intended as tutorials. Maybe I'll do a special on that some day.

      Come on, with the amount of videos you push out it wouldn't hurt to dedicate one to a slightly different format. I'm also pretty sure your sponsor would appreciate it as well...

      Another option would be to mix just a few shots with the kite framed, it doesn´t necessarely need to be one or the other. This way everybody would be happy :-)@@sejalipe

  • @AEndorphin

    Congrats, this is awesome. I definitely would enjoy watching a competition like this. However my fear is that it might be a "too complicated discipline". Here is what I mean: I consider myself as a very motivated kitesurfer. I run my own IT company but all my free-time is dedicated to kitesurfing. I used to do new-school freestyle and radical big-air with C kites (as that was the trend back then), I was going for dangle passes with lot of rotations. Then I experimented with Formula Kite racing, even participated on major events (World Championships, European Championships, Word Cups) for 2 consecutive years. Now I'm doing big air again (not with C kite anymore). I have lot of experiment with foil kites (Flysurfer Sonic 3, Soul, Soul2, VMG, VMG2, Ozone R1 V4, F-one Halo, Diablo, and now the Flysurfer Sonic 4). I was mainly riding bigger sizes during racing, but of course there were some winds where I took 9m or 11m. Now for airstyle / big air I still use 15m kites and I had very good experience with the Flysurfer Sonic 4 12m. However every time I need to decide what kite should I take in stronger winds (when I could already have a lot of fun with tube kites) I rarely pick smaller sizes of foil kites. Even the Sonic4 12m in about 25 knots is very complicated on the launching, landing and packing part. But you can imagine I have experience with it already as in formula racing we were always riding big kites in strong winds as well. So what I'm trying to say is: it is very "complicated" to have fun with foil kites in stronger winds. I guess you might also need some assistance with launching. So unfortunately this "discipline" might not be as tempting for young talents as riding a tube kite. What do you think about this?

    • @sejalipe
      @sejalipe  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi bro, indeed the launch is the tricky part in higher winds but if controlled I don't see a problem there. You just need to know what to do and what not to do and have the assistance of two caddies that also know their job. Not much difference to the mid air kite swaps we have in competition in tube kites for double loops, there you also have to rely on experienced caddies. It's just that most people don't know how to launch a foil kite safely and that is the most important thing to master first especially in stronger winds. It seems to work in the formula kite, so why not in airstyle. It's not for everyone, skill is required but I'm sure we are gonna see more people working on their foilkite skills in the near future. It can't be ignored forever especially when the audience approves of this discipline.

    How do you know where is left and right while spinning and rolling? And since you hold the bar (down) with the left hand, why doesn't the kite loop or fall to the left?
    I once pulled the bar too much with one hand while jumping and it shot me away with a kiteloop... Thanks for helping.

      How do you tune ozone foil kites? The only yt vids are from about 5+ years ago and you have to measure every single bridle and compare to line plan pdf from ozone. That is extremely tedious. Does Ozone have a system similar to Flysurfer long/short mixer test?@@sejalipe

    • @bekanav
      @bekanav 9 місяців тому

      @@movieman12341 At least my Chrono V2 has adjustment for C in the mixer which also affects on B line row. There is an adjustment for brakes too (which FS has only now in Sonic4).
      In V2 bridle is designed smartly in that sense there is similar line lengths in upper levels of the bridle between A-C line rows. It means you can just compare these lines to each other to see if there is any deviations. This is almost same as LMT in FS kites
      You can correct errors by stretching shrunk lines back to original length

    It's bizarre how long and what you do in the air.
    But it strikes me that you mainly train on flat water and not on the sea with high waves. Why is that?

    • @sejalipe
      @sejalipe  10 місяців тому +3

      Let me explain, on flat every pass you ride you can perform a trick or move. At sea you have to time the wave and be lucky nobody's in your way. The math is simple, much faster progression on flat and much better development of edging technique without the free boost you get from a wave.
