Elektron is a new vibe these days man. The old days of Octa are gone. The boxes will not be “obsolete” so that is ridiculous but I wouldn’t expect too long of a wait for your Digitakt 3 ;)
I'm psyched on this update! The Wavetone machine and comb filter really open up the sound palette of the Digitone. It might be a minute until I upgrade my Digitakt, but this feels like a real no brainer.
Ableton's Collision actually doesn't use comb filters, it uses a series of parallel resonant bandpass filters which act to resonate and bring out certain frequencies in the impulse/noise signal.
I think I'll be selling my syntakt and my digitone. My digitakt got a ton more use and still does, and the 2 isn't enough of an improvement to upgrade. This new one will do enough of what i do with the others and will be one less box to be precious about... i think this and the old analogue heat should be more than enough. I'm feeling disappointed with the lack of updates for the dn1 and syntakt.
It's crazy, everyone loves and makes music with their box, the next day the Mk2 version comes out and suddenly their box that they loved and made great music with until yesterday is no longer useful? Something is wrong.
you're not wrong! It's always a fun distraction though, to speculate and wonder if maybe the new thing will fit you better than the thing you already have, I think that's sort of the nature of technology and capitalism, some people like to get the new iPhone every year, some people lease a new car every year. I'm over here buying a new drum machine every 2-3 years and yappin' about it with a few people on the internet.
@@soffter Sure, and besides that you share your knowledge. Nothing to say to you. But I see many comments in different places where they refer to their SYNTAKT and DIGITONE 1 as waste because the DIGITONE 2 came out. I like your madness and I learn here. Thanks
Here's another take. Imagine the ps6 comes out, and it's the best way to play gta6, but it emits and 45 second extremely high pitched annoying sound every time you turn it on. Eeeeeeeeeee. But you love gta6 and this is the best way to play so you *put up with it* to play your favorite game. Then they release a ps6 pro that doesn't make that noise and just starts up quiet. Then you think "well fuck that annoying screeching ass ps6, I wanna play gta6 without a freaking migraine every time" That's how I feel about 64 steps on the Syntakt. I put up with it cause a 128 step Syntakt with polyphony doesn't exist. When it does, I'll be giving the og the side eye. Still like the syntakt, but every time I gotta copy over a patch in a chain I have to turn on the lights and hope I don't accidentally erase my pattern.
I feel like very few of us actually feel that way. New version comes out, it's a new opportunity yea, but it's a new family member to the overall offering. There is no obsoletion. Original digitakts and digitones will keep on beep booping, and many of us don't really care about this notion of "upgrading" being thrown around. I think it's all just a projection of varying degrees of consumerism within the community. End of the day, more variants and new versions means more instruments out in the world, and maybe even lower prices on the original versions, which helps us to beat inflation on instrument prices (whereas, simply discontinuing production will instead increase prices).
DIGITONE 2 I tried looking everywhere for the storage info. But weirdly can’t find that info anywhere. Does anyone know the storage and internal ram info???
This sounds thin and has the same low RAM usage software coded sounds as the Syntakt. RAM is king and a 16 GB RAM M4 chip Ipad Pro is $1500. This is not remotely close for $1000. If you could get usage out of it get it. I would wait on that trademarked Toneverk.
@@Reroute836 I believe it is important that people get the best products in our modern times for their money especially in times of inflation. The RAM should match the price and when it does not the market that is for instruments becomes a market of collectors items like baseball cards.

So funny thing about the digitakt album ess made. The max patches were the prototypes of the digitone fm engine sampled into the digitakt.
damn the deep lore is out there :O

as a digitone 1 user I upgraded instantly, machine will arrive tomorrow. more voices, more tracks and a lot more. god job elektron!
Syntakt is my desert island synth. I’d honestly choose it over my modular rack
Same but… what if digitone 2 ?
Would love a polyphonic syntakt!
@@lextron-audioSyntakt II before Xmas?
@@karl.weaver not sure about that.. next summer I think

The Virus plugin only made me want an actual Virus more.

If you find out report back because yeah I can’t find anything in the manual or on the site
i really like you but why do you keep saying diJi instead of diGi. Dig not didje
Because that’s a hill I’ll die on dangit. Cause it’s like
“Digital” to me
DIGITONE, digitakt
But I understand I’m in the minority here lmao

Ma perché fai la recensione della Digitone 2 se non c’è l’hai???
