We're not conditioned to expect low prices from Chinese manufacturers: we're conditioned to expect overpriced products from the mainstream brands.
That very well could be true!
I dont think we realize this as much as we should... Well said sir!
@@TopTierTicker Also, the fact that you said that you're brainwashed into thinking paying a higher price for a Chinese watch despite it being superior to anything else in its price category reflects your sheepish mentality, gatekeeping snobbery, and in you being a useful idiot for the mainstream brands.
Who cares if it's a higher priced Chinese watch? It's just an overall fantastic value proposition regardless of the country of origin, relative to its similarly priced competitors.
@@12801270able What's the need to be so extreme... 'Brainwashed' 'Sheepish' 'Idiot'. Just because someone has a different opinion to you? Seiko, Tissot and Sinn also make great watches for the money. It isn't a one or the other situation here. People can see value in both.
I just got mine today..because of this video and I must say I’m extremely impressed and in shock to the quality and finishing, iv paid double for other watches that’s not as good.
Glad to hear it's met your expectations. It's a serious piece for the money. Enjoy!
I own several low-tier San Martin watches and their quality is quite stunning. Their watches cannot be simply dismissed as "Chinese scrap". Good value for money instead.
I am also yet to be dissapointed with the quality of a watch from them. They are making some of the highest quality affordable watches, that's for sure
Of course all reviewers will be praising this Chinese watch crap, SM gave them the watches for free LOL
Thing is so dope, San Martin is competing with Tissot, Citizen, Hamilton, and even Henry Archer and WISE in my opinion. I love the blue dial version. Would love to see one given to Kevin O’Leary, with a red strap to see his reaction. I’m wearing a Pagani Design AirKing V2 homage as one of my grails is the Rolex AirKing, but the bracelet is pretty terrible. That said I have an Addiesdive and Steeldive Submariner that are sub brands of San Martin and they’re incredible especially for the money.
This is clearly a step up from all SM watches, in every aspect. Regarding the price complaint, I just checked yesterday and, after using a discount code from another UA-camr, I was able to bring it down to $297.
It is still much cheaper than any other brand using this movement and will probably be even cheaper in the 11.11 sale.
I absolutely agree, no complaint here regarding the spec sheet or value for money. My point comes to brand. You can get some serious watch brands with some serious history and heritage on wrist for this kind of price, is my point. The quality is unquestionable
Of course all reviewers will be praising this Chinese watch crap, SM gave them the watches for free LOL
((hits blunt))
Whoa. You said something nice about San Martins.
😂 I'm not a serial hater my friend. And I'm certainly not stubborn enough to not change my mind on something 🙏
@@TopTierTicker Like you, I keep an open mind. It’s pretty cool I think. The community is starting to take notice of SM. Even Long Island Watch has started selling them.
@@ivoshandor6859 I saw that too! I watched Mark's review on one a few weeks back with his advice to them... I guess they listened 😂
San Martin are definitely upping their game. The red dial is mesmerising.
Isn't it! A red and black gradient always catches my eye!
I agree with you. That red dial is the best. And the fact that they use a Miyita 9015 is such an attractive value proposition.
Glad to see San Martin is upgrading their movements to the miyota. The nh35 was a solid workhorse, but a bit below the higher standards that San Martin is providing.
Received my orange version a few days ago and it looks much better in person, it has a precision made and luxury appearance about it. Another thing worth noting is the orange dial in some lighting appears like glowing hot metal which can be captivating to look at. Received in Canada less than a week,
Can’t wait for the 36mm version
I payed £245 for my blue version of this watch from San Martin and I did not have to pay any import duty. The watch is stunning.
Bargain!
Hoping to i do too if i decide to get one.
@linzitazim you will not regret buying this watch it is superb. 👍👍👍👍
Enamel dial and a decent movement for that price is a good value. Excellent review Kieron, thank you
It's as good if not better than my Astor- Banks Fortitude and costs about £200 less. Great watches mate, and makes me wonder why we spend so much on timepieces that cost so much more (me included)
must say, it is so fun watching you start cozying up to the real affordable quality watches from SM!
I cozy up to quality watches! I'm open minded when it comes to each watch! However you won't see me reviewing their next Tudor homage 😆
@@TopTierTicker I think (and hope) that the feedback they get from these watches keep pushing them into originality🙏
To be fair to san martin... (homages aside) this watch commands a price that reflects the build quality of all previous san martin watches. This is what they should have cost all along. I'm ok with the price tag as long as they keep the miyota movement
Great video!
My goodness some people can be negative…..
This watch is tastefully made and nicely in character for its features.
Thanks Maxina 🤣 The San Martin reviews always attract some weird ones.
That watch looks great! I just bought a red dial watch, so I think I'll wait for another San Martin offering. They just seem to be getting better and better.
Great review and a gorgeous watch. For the first 7 mins of your vid I only had one thought running through my head and then around 7 1/2 mins in you said the exact thing I keep thinking... $360 for a Chinese watch is tough to get my head around. We'll see how it ages in my brain, lol. Thanks!
I'm glad it's not just me that feels that way! Again, no complaint with quality. It's just that mental block! The more San Martin can deliver these beautiful designs, the easy it gets!
Why exactly does heritage matter so much? Any equivalent priced option, while having a heritage, also don't have that positive of a perception, such as Tissot. Anyone who knows the brand, knows it as an "entry level" brand. Those brands, don't have the most recognition either, as the average person only know rolex, omega or Patek as fancy brands. Tissot and seiko have "cheaper" watches labels, for the "Average" person. Giving them some obscure brand with heritage and this, they'd assume the SM was more expensive because they don't relaly know anything about watches.
Heritage is the biggest con in the watch industry and so many people have been fooled.
San Martin are making headway, about time,
C,West London.
Too right mate. This one was a real shocker... Really incredible piece for the money
San Martin have done a really nice job here, simple and quite elegant.
The dial is stunning, I think this watch would look great on a vintage black leather strap.
Great review Kieron...passionate, informative and positive as the end links 😁
Cheers mate 👍
Haha cheers Rik! Have you noticed the San Martin videos always bring out the fruitcakes? 😂
@@TopTierTicker I have indeed mate, it's hilarious! 😂
I just cannot get behind the poor bracelet articulation. My CW Twelve has nice tight links, but they articulate enough so I can lay it flat on my nightstand. I’d have no reservations if I could option this with the SN0129-GC2 bracelet that also features the new clasp. Great review as always!
I get your point of view. It was nice to see something a bit different with regards to bracelet. I've had way too many 'oyster' style ones now 😂 I'm sure they'll keep evolving it
Agree on the the bracelet from 0129 GC2
Man, that bracelet is a stunner, imo along with the dial. I've always heard that san martin does regulate their movements in house.
Good to know! All the ones I've had have been very accurate but it's hard to say with movements. Do they send me a good one for the review? Does everyone get the same treatment? Who knows.
@@TopTierTickerThe one I received was also regulated and is keeping excellent time
This is a beautiful and very well made watch. Finally San Martin are embracing the Miyota 9 series movement. And I get why they designed the bracelet the the way they did. But nonetheless there is something about I don't like about the bracelet. Perhaps it looks too much like an armour to me. I would prefer some airyness to the bracelet, perhaps something like a j-style. Would you say Tudor watches look less premium because they use female end links?
I get your point about the 'armour' look. No gaps always looks a bit strange on a bracelet. It makes for one epic wrist roll though!
Regarding Tudor, kind of. They're obviously a very well made bracelet so you can see the quality. But I think they'd look better as a positive link!
Ordering this tonight.
I expect I'll be wearing my Omega a little less when it arrives.
Strange, the screwdriver I received for mine worked fine for the bracelet screws.
Damn man. I don’t know if this is the first time I went through your comments but it gets wild in here.
It's usually a very pleasant place... The San Martin videos are always like this for some reason.
It's a beautiful piece of watch. I was THIS close to buying one, but some pressing matters came up. Don't know why, but it reminds me of Casio Oceanus T200. Indexes, bezel shape and the fact that, with dial, they fill the whole space. Lugs shape and their size in proportion to dial. To me, the overall look of SN0144 straight up brings T200 to mind, but the details on the other hand differentiate them - oceanus is more angular, hands are in the shape of fence posts, indexes are receded between minute markers, are blocky and have almost no lume.
And yet...
So similar, but so vastly different.
You know what, I first thought Oceanus when I first unboxed it. Has that sort of feel about it doesn't it?
It is an improvement, but being hyped up a lot. They still need to improve the logo badge quality a tiny bit. Do San Martin live up to being rugged? You should torture test a few. I never bought one yet.
They are still cheaper than Tissot and Hamilton. Tissot may have similarly priced watches but they are usually quartz watches not mechanical.
On average cheaper, yes. But when you can get those big brand names on wrist, it's something to consider, yano? Regardless of movement
I don't agree that we are conditioned into expecting cheaper watches from China, I had no trouble when it came to ordering this particular watch, I purchased it on pre order without the privilege of seeing a review .
I guess they've already sold you on the quality then? Because I know me and my watch friends haven't quite crossed the boundary yet!
But I am still new to San Martin and Chinese brands in general, so it will take some time!
Appreciate you watching 🙏 Stay well
SAN MARTIN WATCHES ARE NOT BAD GOOD PRICE BUT I ALWAYS SAY THANKS TO CHINA FOR MAKEING AFFORDABLE WATCHES MOST OF MY COLLECTION COMES FROM CHINA THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL VIDEO
Thank you watching my friend 🙏 my ears are hurting a bit but I appreciate the support 😁😂
If they plan to make an aubergine, wine colored dial, I'll be in!!!
It's stunning. I just wish it was 41/42mm.
1. New Ali watches are always more expensive first year of release, then drop by 20-30% after a year or so
2. It's more expensive cause more expensive movement 🙃
3. During sales with Ali coupons , store coupons , sale % + games shopping credits + country % codes ... yeah whole lot cheaper
Knowing how much of a sucker you are for a red dial this must have a permanent place in you collection from now on! Hope you are well Kieron!
I'm developing a little red collection as a side project. Currently on 3 pieces! Need a chrono & dress watch next!
@@TopTierTicker That sounds dope and like a great collection angle! What about the Venezianico Watch Nereide Canova for the dress watch? The chrono might be a bit trickier because it needs to be just right. 🤔
I’m torn on this one because I love the design and finishing but hate how it has male end links along with a case that is straight across and doesn’t turn down very much. The clasp also looks pretty chunky for this type of watch.
What's your wrist size? Because if it's the same as mine or larger, the end links aren't an issue. Clasp is a bit big but it has that awesome spring loaded system, so I'll never complain about the size. (unless it's stupidly big of course)
All chinese watch makers should lean into their chinese heritage. The only way I might want to buy it, since I don’t like supporting their regime.
Seagull and Atelier Wen already do that.
Well i think you have it the nail on the head
Appreciate that! Not often that happens... Although I'm sure some will disagree with you here in the comments 😂
@TopTierTicker yep i am sure also but it is an accurate assessment
Maybe it will be on sale for 11/11
Nice review! And this is the first one for the red dial version that I've seen. I also like red dials, but the pattern in the blue one (which is also very nice) stands out much more, so I'm torn between the two. Also, right now, there are some $40 discount codes, so with them and the store codes the price drops down to about $300. I really can't decide if this is the right moment to buy, or if I should wait for the 11.11. sale. The $40 coupons will expire by then, and I am not sure whether the sale prices will be better since this is a new watch and I don't expect it to be discounted heavily. Any thoughts on that?
It's hard to say really, it's impossible to predict AliExpress prices. Logic tells you that the watch gets cheaper the longer you wait, no? That's my experience with most of them anyway. But I'm not an avid AliExpress shopper so what do I know 😅
@@TopTierTicker I also wanted to ask you about the bracelet - did you have any problems with hair pulling? I am worried that since the links are so tight, if any hairs get between them, the links would be like tweezers 😄
I have rather hairy arms and I haven't had a single one pulled. I also was worried when I first saw the bracelet but I can confirm that it doesn't pull hairs (atleast for the week or so I wore it)
@@TopTierTicker Thanks, good to know!
What would hit it out of the park would be official boutique outlets in each country that can take it apart for service and adjust for accuracy, otherwise it’s just a throwaway watch and I would skip it. Service is a go or no go bottom line decision.
Well learn to do it yourself; it's not rocket science and the equipment is cheap
For a moment I thought it was a Patek
An absolute beauty! I've ordered the GMT in green. Has an NH53 heart but is stunning in spec and I really liked the numbers around the edge. San Martin are raising the game.
Very nice. Hope you enjoy my friend 🙏
2:56 that dial is gorgeous, wowza
The counterbalance on the seconds hand seems a little bit too long.
Great video! I don't believe he deletes comments.
First time I've ever been accused of that by the way. The guy deleted his own comment because I made him look a bit silly with my response. Now he's trying to discredit me by claiming it was me. Proper idiot man 😂
Appreciate you watching my friend... Internet trolls 🤣
Does anybody know if San Martins watches are actually the water resistant to what they claim?
They seem to be one of the AliExpress brands that actually sit on the conservative side with these claims. 100m of this watch's construction actually looks bang on.
The link price is now $301
Blue was a forgone conclusion but I’ll consider this because of your videography thanks. Still trying to warm up to those boring hands tho
The blue does have a much more detailed enamel dial... Not personally a fan of blue dials though. Especially when there's a red options. Good luck with your choice my friend
£400??? It’s not even £300. With discounts around £275. Amazing value for money.
plus tax!
Yeah, once you include UK import duties & taxes, it's getting close to that £400 mark.
@@TopTierTickerit was free delivery and I never got charged any import tax etc. in fact I don’t think I’ve paid import fees on any of the 3 san martins I’ve purchased. (Direct)
That's interesting. I haven't avoided import duties for almost 2 years now 😭 lucky sod
Review Edifice EFB 730D
It's coming!
The only thing missing from SM mechanical watches now is sapphire back cover with brand & detail markings. That will make their watches look legitimate watch makers.
Yeah! As long as they do a custom rotor, I don't mind that idea!
360$! SM used to be affordable. Yes, it is still good value but not irresistable anymore
Wish they had more neutral colors
Yeah, I thought that too. Like a nice grey gradient piece!
I like San Martins. Beautiful. But they seem to have this weird fancination with automatic movements over better, more practical quartz.
That's a hot take! But I appreciate it
They might be pricing themselves out of their niche with such releases. I can get a nice Mido watch with a COSC certified chronometer movement for $450 from a gray market seller.
That's exactly my point. You can get some proper watches for this kind of price. Not everyone wants immaculate finishing... Sometimes a good brand name with a Swiss Automatic is more desirable.
360 is still a bargain for this one! Well done SM, just please introduce another unique set of hands as these have been overused.
nice
Thanks. Appreciate you watching!
Anybody see the resemblance with the monta noble voyager? 😅
Hi,
We have watched all your works and we think your works are very good, no matter the video shooting technique or the explanation of the video, we like it very much and it is very attractive.
We would like you to publish the video for our watch products. We will try our best to meet your requests in terms of commission, etc. We sincerely hope to establish cooperation with you.
We look forward to your reply.
Have a good day!
please change the logo, San Martin. You don't have to piggyback off other brands anymore
female end links? don't like the way it sits
I like it but the logo looks so ugly to me it
Of course y'all be praising this Chinese watch crap, they gave you the watches for free to review LOL
Honestly, the name "San Martin" sounds as if it would be great restaurant for Latin American cuisine. I think that if I were in charge of San Martin, I would've named the company "Paradigm Watches".
You mentioned that this is a GADA watch. I thought for a Watch to be a GADA, it has to have either a white, black, silver, gray, or blue dial…🤔
Depends on your personality! I'd rock this red as a GADA because I love red! The neutral colours obviously fit most situations better. But a GADA is determined by style and specifications for me
I think your opinion on the price is a little bit laughable LOL even at 360 it's a great price for what you get and still less then watches who have way worse quality and are more expensive than this one. You think they're just going to keep upgrading and the price is going to get cheaper? LOL also you'll never pay that $360 I ordered mine and it was $280,280 is the most ridiculous price for something like this. So maybe you need to be more realistic about the fact that it's almost 2025 you're trying to judge this watch as if it should cost $150 in order for it to be a market. Get real bro
You've completely missed the point. I didn't say that the watch is overpriced or poor quality. Simply that it's a high price tag for an AliExpress watch.
I even end the video by saying it's worth the money. Come on, listen!
@@TopTierTicker deleting comments shows your channel has zero integrity
@TopTierTicker ill repeat again eventhough he'll delete again. Didn't hear you complaining about jodis watches that are also made basically in China and this SM is WAY better than that. No integrity.
@@musik4u343 You've lost your credibility as a sensible commentor... Well done.
@@TopTierTicker you never had any..well done
“Which to me has to be perfect”…dude the watch cost under $400 in 2024 that is not a lot of money. Beautiful watch but expecting perfection at < $400 price point is unrealistic.
That statement wasn't meant to be taken literally. It's that old chestnut of heritage vs value. The value has to deliver highly to outperform the heritage.
@@TopTierTicker good to hear but since I hear similar comments so much in other videos hard to not think otherwise
I think you should turn your excitement down a few steps. Your reproductive equipment might overload....
😂 I enjoy what I do!
I honestly don't understand the fuss about this watch... Like, yeah, miyota 9 series, nice dial, but SM has over very nice and even better watches, in my opinion. Perhaps it's just my taste, but I don't like the combination of this case shape, bezel, and crown. Feels like something is lacking. Also the red dial could have looked better, in some lighting it looks kinda cheap.
Great watch. Terrible looking logo
Guys don't bother commenting on this video because if he doesn't like your response he'll delete the comments LOL wow that's so sad. Basically I called him out for complaining about the price of this watch but yet he doesn't complain about the watches that Jodi put out and these are way better. But of course he deleted my comment because he has no integrity

@TopTierTicker what's sly, is you trying to negate your own words. It's hilarious. Dude complaining about the price of this Chinese watch yet had zero issues with watches like erebus which is a Chinese watch but since jodi makes it, then it's ok....yea ZERO integrity. Thanks for agreeing
