Thank you for this conversion. Bob Yancy was the original creator of then # 109. In the last few years the owners of czeck mate had created a formidable gold racer. It was truly sad to lose Sherman just prior to Reno. Your model is a brilliant tribute to the plane and the wonderful man that flew her
Absolutely AWESOME! Thank you so much for the informative and entertaining video. What an unreal amount of work involved, but that's what true GOAT modeling is all about!!! Looking forward to the next installment...Blue skies my friend!
Chris, I love when you show us these refinished planes you do, just awesome work. This ones no exception. I have done a few refinishes (no wheres near as nice) but like you said , its just a lot of work you must put in, mostly sanding and re-applying filler/polyacrylic. Thanks for showing yet another finely re-finished bird.
Thank you! The sanding blocks are ones I’ve had a long time, however dubro just re-released them. I use a light application of spray glue to hold the paper on the blocks.
Amazing work, I’ve done this monotonous prime sand prime sand cycle myself but the results pay off, halfway through your like, is a foamy worth this, the finish you obtained is stunning
Thank you! True story, I asked myself many times if this foamy was worth the effort, haha! I love how the model came out once finished and it flies amazing!
Thank you! As it turns out, dubro just brought a number of sanding blocks to market, so I’d recommend checking them out. For the small ones though, I make my own using hard wood. I have a small 3” one I made ages ago that I use all the time.
@@Thercgeek one other thing I picked up a totaled jet and fixed it up but can’t find a flap to elevator mix for it anywhere what’s the best way to figure that out
I was using the hobby lite stuff too which was really great stuff. The sherwinn williams is the best replacement for it I’ve found so far. Not quite the same, but still good.

Wow Chris. You and Brent...masters of the foam bash!
Thanks man, I’m pretty excited for this one
Great to see you back in the shop working your magic. Hope the family is doing well.
Regards Rodger
Thanks Rodger! Been quite the road getting here, but feels good to be working in the shop again. Lots more projects coming! 😊
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I am watching this this for the second time.
Awesome, thank you! 😊

Thank you! Such a terrible loss. 😢. I debated whether to continue the project or not truthfully, but thought it best to see it through in his honor.

Thanks Jon! Both the video and the conversion were a lot of work, haha!
@@Thercgeek For sure!
Wow…..that finish looks amazing Chris….!

I really like your refinish series you doing Chris amazing jobs!
Thank you!
Great video Chris. That is really cool. Thought and persistence rewards the hands. Nice work on this racer. It's going to be a looker. AirHammer out!!
Thanks man!
Great conversion Chris. The new shop looks super clean! Can't wait to see this one flying!
Thanks man!
Video sponsored by star bond but used BSI foam safe throughout the build LMAO 🤣 love it! Beautiful plane as usual. Great tribute to the full scale.
Haha, I didn't realize at the time I started this 6 months ago that they had a foam safe CA.
Super job!!!!!
Thank you!! I’m hoping to have the next installment ready to post in a couple weeks. 😊
Dude this is amazing! Can't wait to see the finished project!
Thanks man!
Awesome tail mods!
Thank you!
Another good job !!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Chris you shire put a lot of work into your airplanes Great
It’s a sickness, haha
@@Thercgeek Chris your work is like from years ago .A lost art
Cool!
the difference between a nice finish and a hack finish is a piece of sandpaper!!! ;)
Ooooh, I never thought about using long thin strips to make a contoured turtle deck. I might have to use that sometime!
A little something from my balsa bashing days. 😊
I recently tried Starbond and it is so superior to all the other brands on the market it is amazing!
Yeah, I really like it
Looking good man 👍 Great production and explanation . Who makes those cool alloy sanding blocks ? Is the paper glued on or does it clamp.
Thank you! The sanding blocks are ones I’ve had a long time, however dubro just re-released them. I use a light application of spray glue to hold the paper on the blocks.
very nice !!! 👍👍
Thank you 👍

nice job. always amazing. where do you get those nifty sanding blocks.

Where did you find depron I have a really hard time finding some especially in canada
Got it from rcdepron.com (also a link in the description) :)
@@Thercgeek thanks man
I think they ship to Canada, so hopefully they will work for you. It’s nice having depron available again.
@@Thercgeek one other thing I picked up a totaled jet and fixed it up but can’t find a flap to elevator mix for it anywhere what’s the best way to figure that out
Nooiiice!
have you ever mixed baking soda with your polycrilyc ?
I have not. Is that to help thicken it?
@@Thercgeek yes. thicker, easier to sand, better filling quality . try it on some scraps
Fly fixed wing, bro? ? I'm definitely getting some S.W. no shrink spackle.
All my projects are fixed wing. I’m a terrible heli pilot. Or are you talking full sized?
@@Thercgeek actually I took a stab at what your shirt was saying .. lol.
No More Wonder fill , filler ?
I’m not sure what you’re referencing. I’ve been using sherwinn Williams shrink free spackle for quite some time.
@@Thercgeek Might have been somebody else. I was using Hobbico Hobby Lite but can no longer get that. I might try the sherwinn stuff.
