    Thank you for making these videos. Wish I had seen more videos like this before taking Accutane as there are a lot more side effects besides dry skin, lips, etc. On the 5th month of taking it I got a blood test back with low count red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.. they took me off the drug and my Dr. said worst case scenario, I could have Leukemia. Thankfully, a few blood tests later everything cleared up. Also had some bloody stools/yellowish stools while taking it. It's interesting you mention brain fog, concentration, fatigue, etc, as this is something I've struggled with in the years preceding taking it. Thought it might be side effects of taking epilepsy meds for many years, but it could very easily be the Accutane.

    My acne is very mild and I'm only on 30 mg. Before I started taking the pills, I binge watched UA-cam for like two or three days on this topic and never did I see any videos about the long term side effects!

      Same I’m on 30mg but I might stop accutane because personally I have always had depression and suicidal thoughts and always felt like I can control my my thoughts. I’m 24 so I had acne for quite a while but I have tried everything and for the most part I seen some success. I went to a new dermatologist and wanted to go originally for scarring. And prescribed me accutane because at the time I broke out. So I don’t know if I should go on with it.

    I probably got depression and wastage of a small part of my bone on the tibia of the ankle, which had to be operated 2 times. Everyone who wants to take the drug, I'd recomand to think twice if he wants to take it. But worst of all is definitly the depression, and that they gave it to me at the age of 13. There is definitly no way to reverse any of the side-effects. Greetings from Germany

    I did accutane. Didn’t have the side effects taking it, but dry lips and now I think my eyes are affected dry eye. They just feel weird when looking at screens. 35 now still have my hair but it’s dry texture now and thinning could be due to age. My skin is no longer oily too, use to be so oily. I do wonder if it dried me out Vs just aging but impossible to know

    This is a fucking public service, all the respect 🙏 how can dermatologists recommend this shit? Have you seen Dr Dray, the youtube skin dermatologist, and her 1.6m viewed q and a about it? How is it possible for a dematologist be so glib about this? There is no way they don't know about this! I would be grateful for your thoughts

  • @hingginchu

    The only real solution is if there is money and interest to develop a drug that can do the reversal of what accutane does. Accutane damage is real and permanent. There has been so many victims but we are not getting together. People who are suffering and struggling right now should get out, raise their voice and support each other.That's why I really endorse this channel. Only by being together, can we be strong. If we are strong, may be something can be done. I don't see it happening at the moment.

    • @hingginchu
      @hingginchu Рік тому +1

      If the mechanism of accutane and its effect on the human hormonal system is well understood and well documented, why can't we make use of this understanding and do the reverse? It would take decades of research but morally and practically, for compassion and for medical science's sake, this should be done. Such a drug has the potential to cure Sjogren's syndrome and hypogonadism. Maybe some folk who works in the industry who also happens to be an accutane victim will take the first steps. Provided they still can work and is not disabilitated by it.

    It’s so hard as I didn’t take it but now I’m heavily scared and my life is ruined in this way. So it’s like there’s no good choice. Diet did help (LcHF)but not enough so continuing to get one bad deep cyst a month over 3 year period has left me with so much scaring. Kills confidence and leads to isolation. Now I’m on topical Tretinoin in which is helping. Is there a danger in long term topical tretinoin?

    • @tiffanyrussell5040
      @tiffanyrussell5040 3 роки тому

      Many people say it's ok to take long term (many people use it as "anti-aging", as it's basically prescription grade retinol). However, my pharmacist mentioned that the vitamin A in tretinoin plus the vitamin A in a daily multivitamin is plenty for the body. *edit*.. check out the comment from 'r bht'. After doing a google search, it looks like long term side effects are actually common. Not good..

      Comment is 3 years later but for people reading this. Don't use topical retinoids either. I used it and had side effects but couldn't connect them to the cream. It's only when I took accutane that I connected the dots with retinoids and vitamin A derivatives. The side effects are milder but are just as permanent.

      A lot to unpack from this short comment. Firstly, high school is only a few years, not your entire life. Secondly, it’s impossible to ‘move on’ from LONG TERM side effects that actually do last for your entire life. Most people’s acne comes back after Accutane anyway.
