It seems to me that the best strategy for someone looking to buy a new Pixel phone is to wait for Black Friday. Google usually gives a deep discount in the official store... at least that's how it has been the last 2 or so years. That way you get a good price and they have time to iron a few bugs out first :)
Have ordered my 7a Coral which arrives next Wednesday.... Have seen videos and the camera is massive improvement even sometimes better than 7 and 7pro. Yes will use wireless and no plugs at home ...just lay it down and charge...so looking forward to receiving!! Keep 'pushin 7a videos!
Well, I don't know about that other one, I would watch that Dave2D video on the 7a. It's a pretty stark difference in video and photos between the 7 and 7a, and not in the 7a's favor, but I do like the phone overall, once it works right.
@@StevealiciousTechfor the life of me I don't understand people's infatuation with cameras. This isn't 2013 anyone most phone cameras today are pretty good it seems folks are splitting hairs and just nitpicking. To each their own I guess.
I bought a pixel 6A for $160 brand new yesterday. I just needed the spare phone for work. I do have a Google Pixel 7 pro. I'm surprise with how good the pixel 6A is. Camera is awesome. The 60 Hertz is okay compared to 120 Hertz but it's smooth.
Hey Steve, really appreciate the no-nonsense attitude you have here toward these devices. I agree on your point about the 5a being a bad buy since Google has abandoned new features for Snapdragon devices, but it's a huge bummer. The rear fingerprint scanner is the fastest and most reliable way I've ever used to unlock my phone. The battery easily got 8 hours SOT, and the newer Google devices keep shrinking the battery. It was the perfect device for people who didn't need the power to handle heavy graphics work. That is, until the motherboard failed two years from its purchase date.
I'm rocking a 6a and while overall, I've been happy with it, I'll go with the 7a once I can upgrade for cheap. The only reason I want to eventually upgrade is this damn fingerprint scanner and I desperately want the option of face unlock. I do use a glass screen protector so not sure if that's the reason but the fingerprint scanner is definitely the weakest link on the 6a
Finger print scanner just does not work for me. I also have a screen protector on. I have been thinking of replacing the 6a with 7a or 8 when available just because of this problem.
I snatched a used 6A a couple months ago at a second hand wireless dealer close to my neighborhood for $150. Freaking insane deal. I guess pixels aren't too popular around this neck of the woods cuz this store routinely sells pixels dirt cheap. Last summer I bought a pixel 6 from this same store for $250 in flawless condition. Right now he's got pixel 7 pro's at $450 all day. Or pixel 7 at $299! What?! But he wants an arm and a leg for the Galaxy S series though just because dumb ass people will pay whatever for Samsung and Apple. SMH.
I looked at the 7a, must say it's got the dullest display I've ever seen. I checked the brightness slider thinking it was about half way on the slider and it was set at maximum, it had a beige tint/ hue too 😱 I believe Auto brightness is a bit grim too. I've checked a few 7a display models and they were the same I saw the Samsung A34 on the next stand and it had a beautiful, bright and vibrant display ( although the rest of the A34 isn't the best ). No way I'd pay over £400 for such a device . To me the display is what the phone is ( the soul of the phone, )despite all its other components.
Yeah I agree with you. Wait on getting a new pixel phone. I have the Pixel 7 pro and honestly still it's battery wise. It's not very good when I look at usage it's always the mobile network even more than the screen and that tells you it's the modem and the processor aren't very optimized or maybe I got a bad one. That's kind of the luck of the draw which means when the pixel 8 comes out I'm trading this one in cuz my battery life is never been good. It's a nice big phone. I like everything about it except the battery life
ur rews are something else, really honest no bulling around ! love it ! hence a quesiton.. do u have heating issues with the 6a? im thinking of getting it
Exactly! Got my pixel 6a and not switching 😊 even tho I am watching this on my Priv currently 😇 lol. But honestly the design stands out more on the 6a, I just love it. And 😐 c'mon. People who praise the 90hz (or worse, knock the 60hz) I just don't understand em. I had a Razer phone in 2018 when 120hz was so ahead of its time - and my other 60hz phones were as solid back then as they are today 🙄
@@StevealiciousTech gorgeous! And one of my fav things, besides WOW-ing people w/ the slider, is noticing how the pixels-per-inch are rarely matched on newer, even flagship devices coming out year after year, vs my Priv 😎 but the pixel 6a is #amaze there are actually times it's hard for me to switch from it!
Google been running a deal and the 7a is 444 and the 7 is 449. I get 130+ back from trading in my 6a to knock it down more. Should i jump at getting the 7?
Well you can get the 7a for 450 and it's not just the price that different between the two. 7a better screen all around it's smoother not just at 90hez but at 60hrz too. Bigger battery, both speakers are used when a call is put on speaker phone, the network connection is better, the camera is also slightly better. Not saying it's worth the price but it's certainly! A better phone. How ever...I wouldn't buy either one. The chip is not the most efficient in the phone still gets very very hot while doing simple tasks. There are way too many good phones at the five to $600 price range
People have made a fuas about thia 50 bucks price increase. I personally believe the increase is justified (new chip, 90hz display, new camera etc). Pixel 7a will be a better buy relative to other phones in the price range (most of them if not all). 7As problem is googles own phonea (6A and 7). So, there is no need to be over critical here!
Right, but...why? If you add enough to a phone, you can justify it, you can put more and more features until it's a flagship, but that's not the point. It's getting away from what the A series should be, and it almost promises a price increase on the 8 and 8 Pro in the fall. It's not good overall...sure, it is better than the phones in it's range, but it's more expensive than them as well.
@@ottallmanI have the Pixel 6a and iphone 13 in green so I'm good for the next couple of years. If Google has the audacity to raise the price again when their quality control is shit then good luck selling the 8 series. Maybe I'll see what the Pixel 10 has to offer. Maybe by then we'll have under-screen front camera and 5-day battery life. Ha.
Hi! Have been using iPhone for about 10 years now, currently using iPhone 14 Pro Max and I’ve been looking for some change. That because I’m not a professional user, I use my phone for social media, taking daily photos and videos, Pokémon go and clash of clans. So I’m really not in need of an expensive phone like a iPhone 14 Pro Max. Which google pixel phone should I go for? The pixel 7 or 7a? Just need a stable, fast phone with good camera.

Thankfully, my 7a experience has calmed down a little, but that still doesn't make $499 ok.
